DD1 seemed to have found my very last nerve today. For a normally perfect unicorn child she was in rare form, even her preschool teacher mentioned it. Of course today was the day H had to work in the evening so I had her and DD2 all to myself.
DD2 was as sweet as sugar and unusually happy all evening. So much so that she just played and talked to herself while she was in her crib to fall asleep.
I’m ready for the weekend.

Im at a -1094848392 today
Last night at 3:15 our carbon monoxide detector went off. I turned the alarm off and was trying to decide what to do when there was a knock at my door. ADT had automatically called the fire department and they wanted us to evacuate the house while they checked levels and such.
So i had to grab E and we hung out outside until they told us they found detectable levels on the main floor as well as higher levels in the basement (where the monoxide dector was going off). At that point they offered their emergency vehicles for us to sit in as it was going to be a long night. E loved that part!
So they had to call the gas company while they ventilated the house. They got the readings back down to 0 then turned on all our gas using appliances. The gas company guy had more sensitive equipment and found 0 co2 at that point so he told us it was safe to go back inside, at 5:00 am 😐
Basically they said its uncommon but not unheard of for co2 to get trapped while trying to vent outside and thats likely what happened here. When we opened the doors and windows it broke whatever air pocket was trapping the gas and it continued to vent properly.
So TL;DR is my house alarm may have saved our lives last night. The firemen said the monoxide detector caught it very early so we didnt get any exposure. Oh and then we had a pedi appt today and had 2 shots and a blood draw. Im tired.

Taitai I’m doing ok, on the mend except those stupid anti virals are making me gain weight 😡 I hope it’s just water weight and it will go back when I stop. Sadly you can get it again and again and again. Worryingly. DH and I had it out yesterday because long story but I’ve felt like we’re roommates, we never get quality time together of any kind (romantic or otherwise). I think it’s partly the new anxiety meds he’s on so he said he’d stop them and ask his doctor about other options. So I love him more when he’s neurotic I guess haha Anyway I was mad two days ago and I threw my BCP out (because we never need it 😔) and now I have a period. So that was dumb as shit. cythe what a crazy experience! I’m so glad you had those detectors and they worked! I bet you’re exhausted though.

cythe random thought, have they tested E for lead exposure? Yes and they did a repeat test today. My pedi doesn't seem like the most organized doctor on the planet so idk if its normal to have 2 lead tests within 6 months

But we had that debacle with the iron levels on our doctors machine being wonky and when he sent them to a real lab they were fine so maybe they’re double checking? It’s probably fine though.

She actually just called to say the blood draw and the lead test came back fine (which it did last time too). I dont know what she's doing, both houses E has ever lived in has been built in the 1980s or later so minimal risk.

Yikes cythe -that’s really crappy you guys had to go through all that. But, thank goodness for your CO alarm!. We have CO monitors in our home, and we’ve had similar situations here in DS1’s room from CO2 build ups caused by the weird plumbing in the bathroom that is connected to DS1’s bedroom. We just open the windows/doors, vent with a fan, move DS1 into the guest room, and then the situation resolves itself very quickly. But it still sucks. I hope this isn’t a recurring issue for you. It’s happened to us like 3 times in the past 2 years.

curmudgeon On no - your poor dog!! How old is he? I am so glad the surgery went okay, and I think you made the right call. Poor thing. doodlemommy How is your mom recovering from her surgery? Hope everything is okay! bootsorhearts1 You feeling ok? I just read an article about vaccines, and I wonder if you will be immune to the shingles virus from now on? duskymonkey How are your kids doing? I hope you didn’t end up at urgent care all night 😩 Thanks for asking Taitai! She is supposed to be released from the hospital this morning! They have been waiting for the drainage tube to dry out and yesterday she was still having a scant amount of drainage so they wanted to wait a bit longer. The surgery went really well but it was a huge defect they said. She has a 6x6 mesh where they couldn’t rejoin the muscle. So she will have to definitely make some major lifestyle adjustments. From now on she can only babysit if my dad is around to help with lifting (which is fine, he is usually around on the days they watch our kids anyhow, just means he has to do naps etc). Other than lifting I don’t know exactly what the restrictions will be but I know she will have some. She is really looking forward to getting out of the tiny noisy hospital room and eating some non hospital food today! cythe that is so scary! I’m glad you had good monitors and that everything is ok now

Yall my burglar alarm went off last night just to add insult to injury to my sleep. If you need a really great way to just lay in bed worrying about someone in your house, just have your alarm go off. I woke H up, he grabbed a thick ass piece of wood and we crept downstairs. Everything was fine, we think it was some issue with the window settling after they had opened it to vent the basement the night before. I promise you that was little consolation at 12:30 am.
