Mom’s day is going well over here- H got me a little charm of a boy with DS2’s birth stone in it to add to my floating charm mom necklace. I remember he got me that necklace back in 2015 for my first Mother’s Day, so it was nice to add DS2’s charm to it today. 👍 DH also had DS1 and DS2 make a very cute card for me. DS2’s part was just a scribble, but DS1 actually wrote out (in his own special 4 year old way) - “happy mom day. I love u.” Very cute 😊
DS2’s present to me was not sleeping from midnight to 3am last night. Whyyyyy?? He wasn’t grumpy or crying, just like - wide awake and ready to party. Why you no sleep DS2? So out of character for him. Fingers crossed for a better night tonight.

Mother’s Day was a good one here. I stayed up till almost midnight reading a book (and wore a face mask for part of that!), got to sleep in, and took a nap today. H is outside with the girls while I internet so all in all it’s been a good day!

Taitai ,That sounds lovely and a really special piece of jewelry. Meh! About DS2 being awake. Lil fella did the same thing a few days ago. He was chattering, laughing in his crib 🤷🏻♀️ And eventually went back to sleep. Hubs of course was dead asleep 🙄 how I haven’t the foggiest clue. danvers sounds like a relaxing day and just what you need and really all we need too. Both boys were up at 630. While I made crepes, DS drew me a flower! He behaved reasonably well during breakfast then we had a really nice morning walk and saw 2 baby owls! 1 already branched. Hubs is out mowing the lawn and DS wanted to watch a show so we’re watcging Thomas and lil fella is napping. So far a pretty good day.

duskymonkey Those owls are so cute!! DH’s parents have a morning dove nesting right outside their back patio door, so now they can’t use it anymore, because they don’t want the dove to abandon the eggs. Very sweet of them - they say there are 2 eggs in there and we are getting regular picture updates 😊 The floating charm necklace from DH isn’t fancy or expensive (he got it on Amazon for cheap), but I love the idea of taking my little boys with me everywhere I go. So glad I have charms for both DS1 and DS2 now!

Good Monday morning O17. I was not ready to face today, but alas, here I am. I had a really good weekend. Friday evening we went to Lowe's to pick up a wall cabinet to go in the boys' bathroom because we need extra storage. I wandered down the faucet isle because I had started to think that my kitchen faucet was leaking. So we ended up buying a kitchen faucet as well. Saturday morning DH took the boys grocery shopping and errand running so I had some time at home - which really I just did some batch cooking like always but at least there was no one underfoot and I could eat snacks as I cooked without sharing. lol Saturday afternoon DH was really optimistic we could replace the kitchen sink faucet ourselves so we started that project after putting DS2 down for nap. About 5 hours, 2 trips to Lowe's, and 1 S.O.S. call to FIL later, I had a new faucet. The old faucet, which WAS leaking, was so corroded we had to take the ENTIRE sink out so we could get proper leverage to remove the bolts. Ugh. But it is done and I love my new non-leaking faucet. Yesterday was really lovely. My Mom drove up and met us at church. After church, Mom and the ILs came over to our house for tacos. DH gave me a canvas wall hanging with a collage of pics from DS2's first year - two years ago he gave me one with pics from DS1's first year. I also got a nice card and some chocolates. Mom gave me a hummingbird feeder and some flowers for my deck. All in all it was a really nice weekend.

Happy Mother's Day (a day late)! I hope everyone got to enjoy their day.
Life is still crazy. DD starts swim lessons tonight. She will do one-on-one lessons today through Friday, minus Wednesday because she has her end of the year program at school. I also have to travel for work on Thursday and will be late getting home on Friday, so H will have to hold down the fort. If I make it through this week in one piece, it will be a miracle! I'm already tired.

Happy belated Mother’s day! We had a busy but great day. DH made me a blueberry cinnamon roll French toast bake thing (I picked the recipe haha) and he and the kids spoiled me with a floral tote bag, Mom coffee mug and stuff from Lush. Our tradition is to to have part of the gift to be something to do with our kids. So they also picked out some learning card things and a little game. DD loves the cards so much haha. Then we had church and then to my parents for brunch. My dad, DH, and BIL cooked us waffles with all kinds of toppings, sausages, eggs and we had two kinds of mimosas (virgin for me but still tasty). My mom bought me a bunch of plants and my dad is going to plant them all for me. And my sister got me flowers too. Then off to a bbq at my ILs where I got another plant from my MIL. Busy day!

As a follow up to that busy day...DS has been asleep in my arms for an hour and a half. He was so grumpy this morning and crashed hard at 9:30! I need to wake him now though or we will be late to pick up DD from preschool

Hey ladies
My mothers day was rather disappointing. My husband doesnt seem to have a clue how to be a supportive parent/spouse/what have you without me telling him every. single. time. and its exhausting.
So I decided ill blow a bunch of money at a day spa and treat myself to a late mothers day. Yay me.

cythe a well deserved break! Hope it was enjoyable. For Mother’s Day I got shingles. 😂 😭 It’s pretty mild and I’m on anti virals so hopefully it will clear up quickly. Worried about little one since she’s only had one of the two chicken pox vaccines, they don’t give the other one until 4 years old. Tried calling the pediatrician today but I guess they were busy, they never got back to me. Ugh.

Can one get chickenpox exposed to shingles? What symptoms did you have? I’ve had chickenpox

I’d do the same. Hubs also didn’t do anything but that’s the way he is and I don’t expect anything more or less. If I want something I just go get it myself 😂

Ugh, cythe I’m sorry your DH disappointed you. Can you gently mention it for the future? DH is a bit of a last minute planner but has gotten better over the years. All I really want is something handmade (one year they made a birdhouse, other years just the card is handmade) and to not be the default parent the whole day. As DD gets older (she is 4.5) she is more involved in helping pick ideas etc so that helps him get organized and make plans more I think

doodlemommy that sounds like such a good day! I would be mortified with the kitchen if hubs made me anything. He prob can’t even find anything other than fork spoon knife and plate 😂 Haha DH grew up in a very traditional household role home and I have worked hard to teach him otherwise. It is super important to me that our kids do not grow up with the strict gender roles and that they both can cook, clean, do laundry, basic car stuff, yard stuff, the whole nine yards. DH is not confident in the kitchen but is capable. We have an open floor plan house so when he is cooking I stay in the living room area so I can talk him through measurements or where to find things. He has gotten much better over time and is capable of significantly more now than when we got married! I am still working on the cleanup part as apparently he is blind to crumbs 🧐? But he did cook, serve, and do the clean up for mother’s day! It helped that I picked something very simple

duskymonkey Oh no for the pukes!! I feel like I jinxed you by bringing up car puke a few days ago 😬 bootsorhearts1 Ao sorry about the shingles- I hope it doesn’t spread to your kids and that the anti-virals do the trick. cythe I’m glad you treated yourself on Mother’s Day, but I’m sorry your H was clueless. Maybe a gentle talk is a good idea, like what @doodlemomy said. My H is extremely forgetful (I had to remind him to call his own mom and wish her a happy Mother’s Day), but he’s gotten better with this stuff, as he knows what my expectations are. Does your H care about father’s day at all? Maybe framing it in terms of asking how he would feel if you did absolutely nothing for him on that day? Just a thought.

duskymonkey thanks, yup it’s chicken pox so if you’ve had it you can’t catch shingles but you can get it because it’s the same virus, but people who have never had chickenpox (or the vaccine) can get it from someone with shingles. It’s like, something old people get. Waaah. The doctor was like “you’re kinda young to get shingles” I’m like thanks dude, not helpful. Sorry about the pukes, how are they feeling now? Our big guy is super skinny so if he pukes repeatedly we feel better taking him to the hospital or doctor; though now we have some prescription anti nausea drug for him we give him that if he gets sick. If they give you some ask for a prescription so you can keep it at home!

I got a massage tonight for the first time in months (my massage place doesn’t allow first trimester massages and scheduling issues kept me away until now). It was glorious. My mom also got her hernia repair done today, the surgeons will come by in the morning to update on how it went. She is in a fair bit of pain but hopefully the repair went perfectly!

We went to see detective pikachu on mother's day while my mom watched M. She always has a good time over there and my mom says she is super fun to watch. Too bad the laundry and cleaing/organizing can't do itself. I'm -thisclose- to hiring a cleaning service.

codex320, I started using a cleaning service about a year ago. It took me a bit to get used to strangers in my house, cleaning everything, but I have gotten used to it. It was also hard for me to let go of that $$ to pay for something I could do, but I got over that too. It is money very well spent IMO. I also find that we tend to keep things I bit more tidy, because we know the day before they come we have to have everything picked up. If we keep things a little more tidy all along, it is so much easier. If you think you can swing it, I highly recommend giving it a try.

I had to get my dog’s eye removed last week. He gets the stitches out tomorrow and I have an irrational fear it won’t be healed. Other than that, he is much happier and back to his old self. Poor thing must have been in so much pain from his eye before.
Long version- He had a corneal tear that wouldn’t heal since Sept. Vet kept giving us antibiotics and eye ointment but it always looked infected and gross. He had no vision in it and some days wouldn’t eat. So I told the vet to just remove his eye if it was of no use and causing pain.

Hope everything is okay! bootsorhearts1 You feeling ok? I just read an article about vaccines, and I wonder if you will be immune to the shingles virus from now on? duskymonkey How are your kids doing? I hope you didn’t end up at urgent care all night 😩

curmudgeon, oof that sounds horrible! but i'm glad he's feeling better. CoachTsWife, I'm going to shop around for a cleaning service. duskymonkey, car puke is the WORST. H actually went out and bought a new car seat because it got everywhere. We washed it so it's still ok and will use as a back up since you never know when the car sickness will happen.

Taitai he’s 12. So, not young! But he is still playful and full of life. I’m so so happy to see him back to his old self again. We have a 12 year old dog too - he lives with my parents in the states, because where we live now is so dog unfriendly. At the most recent vet checkup, the vet said he has an in-turned eyelash that is causing a bit more tearing than usual, but it doesn’t seem to be bothering our pup, so they’re not going to do surgery for it or anything. I hope he’s not silently suffering though! We’re going to take a closer look when we are back in the USA this summer and see if we should just do surgery for it to make sure he’s comfortable. Dogs!
