Ds1 has croup. Daycare called with a 102 fever and when I got him he looked and sounded awful. Thankfully I got him in to the pediatrician right away and they gave him steroids so hopefully it'll be short lived. I hope he feels better soon. E has another cold too and I swear to god we haven't lasted longer than 2 weeks before he's sick again. I can't wait until they are a little older and their immune systems are stronger. Glad he's already feeling better jules1614. sarahandben108, I've been saying we're on a three week cycle, it suckssss. I keep thinking it'll be the last one because it's spring now, but no luck yet!

So I think C has eczema. He’s had a small patchy rash on his chin for a month and now he’s getting some spots in the creases of his arms/legs. It’s weird that he’s developing it now, right? Any tips? I put some hydrocortisone on it last night which seemed to help. I’m also going to get some scent-free natural baby wash for his baths. Here's some tips- ds2 has really bad eczema but it's been well controlled with doing the following: Definitely unscented baby wash and possibly laundry detergent if it's not getting better. I use the aveeno unscented soothing relief creamy wash and All free and clear laundry detergent. He bathes almost daily (partially for skin and partially because he's a super messy eater). I don't use the body wash every day though. Right after bath I use vanicream cream (not lotion) everywhere. If he has any breakout spots I use hydrocortisone ointment which is prescription strength. Ointment is better than cream if they have it over the counter. If we're eating something really acidic I sometimes put Vaseline on as a barrier on his chin because he gets contact dermatitis from acidic foods. Now that it's not so dry his skin is getting better but then we run into other environmental things that make him breakout in summer lol.

Glad he's feeling better, jules1614! Random question I thought of while looking through supermarket deals - did any of you use Dreft/baby detergent, and when did you switch over to regular stuff? We have a full bottle of stage 2 Dreft still to go through (thanks Mom lol), but I'm wondering if when that runs out we'd be ok using the same pods we use for our stuff - I use fragrance/dye free for us already anyway (one unexplained outbreak of hives for me and I switched to sensitive everything).

Personally, using the dye free stuff is probably better than the dreft anyways but if you don't notice a skin issue for your LO I'd finish what you have and then use the regular stuff.

I used all free and clear and dreft for like .06 seconds then promptly switched DD1 to our stuff. DD2 I never used anything but our regular detergent. My kids have my resilient skin and ain't nobody got time for running special loads of laundry. All our stuff tends to mix together since our laundry is right off the living room and we just toss things into the washer whenever then run it once it's full. DNW want to empty, separate, and wash various loads. Hard pass.

I feel like I have nothing of value to add to the conversation this week. I have been working early days so I am just mentally and physically fried. We have been busy, too. We watched half of the new Game of Thrones on like Tuesday, and still have yet to finish it. LOL. Some of that is because H has been watching playoff hockey though. The Sharks made it to the next round, which like... yay them, but also, ugh more time spent watching hockey. It is pretty cute seeing DD2 do the Sharks chomp, though.
This weekend should be good. We just have our usual plans on Saturday (my early workout and then DD1's tee ball), and then H and I are finally seeing the new Avengers movie that evening. Sunday we gloriously have no plans. Half of me wants to do nothing, but half of me wants to go to the zoo. So we will probably go to the zoo in the morning, if it isn't raining.

We switched B to ours for like a week and we got sad because he didn’t smell like baby detergent anymore so we switched back 😂😂. We usually still use purex baby on his stuff but probably will switch him to ours when the bottle runs out. *waves hi*

N can reach the knobs on the oven, so time for covers. I feel kinda bad I hadn't gotten them yet... oops. (Gas stove, so yeah, don't want him accidentally turning things.)
I thought H had to work tomorrow but he's off, which is good for two reasons. His car is overheating and it needs to go back to the shop, and also my BFF is moving (sob) and asked me to help pack tomorrow, so now I don't have to bring N along. H and I finally agreed on a pain point for repairing the car, because I'm getting sick of "This will give it more time" and then something else breaks. It's doesn't drive well (I won't drive it unless absolutely necessary), never really got rid of the cigarette smell from his aunt, and is so old it doesn't have LATCH. It served us well for longer than it needed to, but it's falling apart and time to move on.
Also he's been up at 4 the last three days so maybe I'm just being cranky.
Sunday H does have to work a Mother's Day event at his job, so once he's home we'll probably go out to an early dinner with N. Then it's Kings Landing Battle time on GoT!

My students pretended that they were going through Ellis Island today. So I've been pretty busy and haven't had a moment to breathe. They dressed up and had to go through stations to be approved to enter the United States. It's been a lot of fun but a lot of work. I can relate on being mentally and physically fried.
On a nice note, my H sent me flowers at work for Mother's Day. That was a delightful surprise.

Have a nice weekend thatgolfb, last Sunday we didn't have any plans and it was so nice! It felt like we got so much done and also had time for fun. The zoo is awesome though, but after that I'd be too tired to accomplish much, haha. cakewench, car stuff is so annoying. I just need to get my AC recharged and I just can't bring myself to call and book it and drop it off before work and go back and pick it up. Somehow that's too much work. I'm just starting my work day, I have to power through because I'm too excited about my weekend away to work! Going to go to Old Navy or Gap at lunch and see if I can grab a new pair of shorts. I haven't unpacked mine from last year yet, but I don't think I bought any new ones then, so I'd say it's time either way (previous year was mat clothes!!). I guess I should get DD some shorts too, although with her wildness she'll have scraped knees all summer long. I'll probably leave her in leggings for daycare so they don't have to worry about scrapes and sunscreen. AnnPerkins, is your DD wearing Keens in your IG story? Are they comfy for her?

We did a similar thing where we all dressed as immigrants from a country in our heritage, and did a big presentation to other classes we invited to come in and learn about Ellis Island. Unfortunately this presentation required us to sing "Coming to America" by Neil Diamond, and I now cannot hear that song without shuddering.

We used one bottle of Dreft when ds1 was a baby, and only because my mom bought it so his clothes would smell like a baby. We’re probably going to switch to scent-free natural everything now that C is so rashy. It looks a bit worse today. Thanks for all the tips jules1614 I’ll definitely try them all. We’re stuck at home today. I’m waiting for the plumber to call me and come check out a small leak we have in the pipe above the water heater. I’m taking my mom out for dinner and a movie tomorrow night for her Mother’s Day gift (which is also kind of a gift to myself! Win win). Then on Sunday we have no plans until a cookout dinner with Dh’s family.

AnnPerkins, is your DD wearing Keens in your IG story? Are they comfy for her? Yes, a hand-me-down pair from a friend. Other than being a little beat up from being previously loved, I really like them for her. She has never acted as if they are uncomfortable and seems to like wearing them as well. I did find a similar style sandal in pink at Walmart that I like, too. They are definitely a lesser quality than the Keens. I'm not sure they'll survive past the summer, but are a good option for knock around shoes.

I know you didn’t ask, but Native shoes have held up really well over two kids and are so great for summer wear.

My sister is back in the hospital, and needs surgery to aspirate the pericardial effusion that has built back up. My parents are driving there now, and she has her ILs there. I feel terrible that I can’t go... but we already have such a short staff at work this week. Obviously if it gets bad I will go. But I’m hoping that’s not the case.

We had brunch this afternoon and it was amazing. We will definitely go back to this hotel again. I’ve made my H do most of the kid work today and he even made the boys their lunches for tomorrow and I didn’t even ask. Later he’s giving me a pedicure. Overall, not a bad Mother’s Day. Hope you all had great days today.

I just spoke to H and we will be going up Saturday morning through Monday morning (I’m off work on Monday, fortunately).
