Why do I stay up late even though I know I have to get up early in the morning? I'm dragging today. Oh hi, me.

Happy Thursday, all! It is my last work day of the week. 👍 Tomorrow morning we go up to nor cal, drop the kids with the ILs, and then head into the city for 2 nights for my cousin’s wedding. Most of our extended family will be there. It will be nice to see everyone. Plus, 2 kid free nights! Haha. SF is my favorite city, and it will be really fun.
My parents will be there, but my sister and her family won’t. She did get out of the hospital last night though! At least, her last text said she was getting out. I’m trying to follow up on that.

As a teacher, I think the specific gifts on certain days is dumb. Granted, I have no experience with it and have only heard people talk about it online, but it seems like unnecessary pressure. My school just asks for dessert donations one day that week. I also think it's ridiculous and I'm also a teacher. It seems counter productive to tell other how to appreciate someone. I never get shit for teacher appreciation though because I teach inner city middle school and it's a place where we work harder than hard could possibly be with little to no acknowledgement. I didn't even know TAW was next week, it's so off my radar. Our admins will likely do donuts one day and lunch one day and that'll be that. I'll get zilch from parents or kids. I typically ignore this week, it means nothing to me. /curmudgeon

I didnt know it was somewhat expected after elementary. If so... I'm a horrible parent lol

But I see how much it's talked about at elementary and DC and preschool level and it truly boggles my mind. I'll enjoy whatever treats we get next week.

Have fun this weekend, thatgolfb! Happy your sister is doing better! H has to work late tonight and all day tomorrow, so it will be me and N for a while. Sunday my company is taking part in the MS Walk, so we will all go and participate. Then I have to judge a production of Annie. So, busy weekend. Looks like I'll finish the steroids on Sunday morning... hoping I can have a beer with GoT on Sunday night, I'll need it

Yes this week went so so so slow!
It's finally nice out and tomorrow should be gorgeous too. We were going to head up to the cabin but my husband ordered some trees for our house and of course they arrived yesterday so he'll be spending the weekend planting them. Ds1 was disappointed but I told him we could go to the zoo instead and that made it all better lol.

Happy belated birthday to your little pootsen! thatgolfb I'm glad your sister is feeling better ❤️ I know it's not totally comparable but I dragged both kids to multiple doctor appointments this week and my god, it was horrible. So I'm sending you patience and well behaved kiddo thoughts quinn.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for ds1 everyone 🥰 we spent most of the day getting ready for his party tomorrow.
I also had a phone interview for a new job. I applied on a whim and was going into the phone call with a “whatever” attitude but that quickly changed when they said the starting salary would be 30k more than I make now 😮 The company is also well known for being very family friendly and they have amazing benefits. So of course now I really want it. Oh and the gig itself seems like it’ll be pretty sweet. I’ll find out more next week.

We dropped the kiddos off and are on our way to SF! It is gorgeous out and the drive is pretty. H had to take a work call before our flight so managing 2 small kids at the airport by myself was... interesting. DD2 has actually been great, and fell asleep on the plane. So I had a mimosa. It was perfect.

E threw up all over herself and her car seat right after I picked her up from daycare. She had been totally fine all day and it came out of nowhere. Then, she threw up two more times on our 30 minute ride home. Since then, she’s been puking roughly every 15-20 minutes. I’m waiting for a call back from the doctor and hoping we don’t end up in the ER.

I just had a 5 minute cry on my couch because I can’t find the remote. I’m just so tired, came home to a disaster of a house and started cleaning as soon as I walked in the door (my mom watched E today but never even cleaned up the dishes from lunch), spent literally 45 minutes trying to find a pacifier that has been lost all week (we are down to one and I know it’s in the house somewhere), made dinner, put E to bed, and now can’t find the remote. I am so tired of stuff not getting put away in their correct spot. I just want to watch some mindless tv.

Aww bethkate, that is both sad and yucky to clean up I hope she recovers quickly! DH and I were just saying how lucky we are to not have had a puking incident yet. And I have to say, for the differences between US and CDN healthcare, you can tell that you get what you pay for down there. My doctor would never really call back and give me advice. They only get paid if we come into the office. Pros and cons to both sides @poosten, holy shit, that would be a noticeable raise! I'll cross my fingers for you. Happy Friday everyone. I'm drinking wine on the couch watching trashy tv now that I've finished the work I took home. I think this month is going to be a nightmare at work. Someone is away for a few weeks and for some reason we didn't hire a temp. So with the one task I was helping with today I realized it was really slow and dumb, so came up with a better way to do it and now I have to make that happen. Silly me.

And high five thatgolfb, nice job with the kiddos. Also, so lucky she napped! We haven't flown for a while, but have to take an approx 2 hour flight in August that I'm not terribly looking forward to. I should probably book those flights though.

Thanks, guys. She’s been mostly sleeping for the last 5 hours and seems to be going 45 mins to an hour between throwing up now. We’ve got her in the couch on several layers of towels and we’re taking turns staying up with her. I just slept 3 hours and tagged in for my shift.

Another E update... she woke up around 12:30 and smiled at me. She drank some water and acted 100% normal until around 2 with no throwing up, so I put her to bed. She slept the rest of the night there. She last threw up around 11pm, so I don’t know if it’s completely done, but at least hopefully the worst is done.
