Just catching up, major tantrums over here too! Anyone entertaining the idea of potty training? Mil thinks H is ready, DCP and I don't, but I don't want to discourage him or her. Potty training at 17/18 months?? Seriously? No. He's not even close to being ready. Try like 3 years old.

I mean girl, I'm like, what? She watched an episode of Daniel tiger with him where DT uses the potty and H did some things that let her know he understands how the potty works. I don't think understanding=being ready, plus you can't potty train 2 days a week. He grabbed himself the other day and pointed to the toilet, I reminded her and MH that he could also associate doing that means he gets to play with the potty not that he understands he's going.

Yeah E knows how to flush the potty and he grabs himself too. But none of that is bathroom readiness. I wouldn't even attempt to try to potty train.

I'm sorry. Was he the instigator? yup. He's trying to be friends with a group of "cool kids" and they're not good influences Ugh... I'm so not looking forward to that phase. Hopefully this suspension will straighten him out and he can find better friends.

laurensc927 I'm with sarahandben108. No way to potty training at this age. In my experience if you push potty training too soon it'll be unbelievably stressful- definitely wait until he has more ability to communicate bathroom needs.

AJ is OBSESSED with the potty. Like he always wants to sit on it, only reads his potty book, loves to watch other people use the potty. But it's wayyyyy too early. I entertain him sitting down on it but that's it. He's too young to really grasp it

And laurensc927, I say this with love, but you have got to get your H on your side on setting boundaries with your MIL. The fact that she is even putting this idea into your head is not good. You need to follow YOUR instincts and do what YOU think is best. You can't let her influence your raising H.

Hopefully this suspension will straighten him out and he can find better friends. he has to go to a ISS type thing 2 hrs a day in the administration Building. All other hours of the day I've been working his ass inside and outside. He won't be using this as a vacation. Trust After a couple weeks I'm going to look into getting him an extracurricular activity outside of the school. Something very wholesome lol

Haven't been around much cause ds2 got sent home from school yesterday morning. He's suspended for 5 days for fighting. I'm so disappointed and frankly in shock. He's a good kid and I never expected this from him I hope man. I’m so sorry.

DS is nowhere close to PT. I plan to wait until DC thinks he’s ready, and I can’t imagine that will be for another year +. They practically PT DD and she was daytime PT by ~30 mo. I’ve heard boys are generally later so 🤷🏼♀️. DS has signed potty to me after he pees sometimes, and most of the time after poop, so I’ll encourage that like I did with DD. At least he is realizing sitting in poop doesn’t feel great.

DS signs potty as I mentioned above, and he “wipes” himself over his pants and tries to wipe down his diaper if he’s given a wipe, but he’s not ready. I would have your MIL focus that toward sitting on the PT potty if she wants to encourage it. DD would practice sitting on a little potty probably around 18-20 mo. Nothing wrong with that.

Now that our babies are all old we don't pay any attention to leaps and stuff like that, but maybe there is one around now because DD was also melting down by dinner time! It sure seems like she has been learning a lot lately so I think that tires them out. I definitely think that's it. Lots of new words over here.

DD2's life mantras or something.

I have a biter. She’s bit two people at daycare in the last two days. Awesome. I have a hitter. When he doesn’t like what’s going on he’ll come right over and wham on you. Yes this is mine, too. She knows not to do it and she does it out of defiance. She is my honey badger for sure.

We got Hello Fresh this week (meal delivery thing) and tonight's was really good! Beef bulgogi. It was nice and spicy and came with a ton of mushrooms so DD was happy. Last night we did salmon with smashed potatoes, beans and tomatoes. It was good too, but less exciting. Tomorrow I'm going out for a mom's dinner out, and then Saturday I'll make the Mexican rice bowls. I'm not as excited about this one, it was DH's pick, but I feel like I make some version of this all the time. Their recipes seem to have some twists and things I haven't tried before, so hopefully this one will too. thatgolfb , how was your Amazon meal delivery?? Oh I never reported back on this! It was so good! I did Hello fresh for a couple years, actually up until I was pregnant with DD2 and had miserable morning sickness. And I just never resumed it. I would say this one was comparable. It was roasted chicken with a pearled couscous salad thing. Delicious!

Hahahahahahahaha No. I am coming from a place of a newly 3 year old that wasn't ready (we tried the 3 day method and it just did not work), who was not day trained until 3.5. And who, at 5 years old, still wears and wets pull ups overnight. So, I do realize other kids are ready sooner. But 18 months? Nah.

Potty training is a huge pain, definitely don’t rush it. I would sooooo much rather change diapers than wash pee soaked clothes and take toddlers in to public bathrooms.

The signing is impressive even! DD would pee and poop in her diaper all day without letting us change her it seems. However I was thinking of getting a potty only because every time I let her run around nude after her bath she pees. So I thought MAYBE after bath time we can try to get her to pee in the potty.

She is my honey badger for sure. The only thing that my DD really is defiant about is when she takes a beer can out of the recycling bin to chew on/stick her tongue into. I say NO in all of my usual ways and this is the one time where I actually have to go over to her and take it away and put it out of reach. She actually cut her tongue by sticking it into the hole of my La Croix I was trying to share with her the other day. Watch out whoever gets her first kiss, she goes in tongue first, ick.

Hi all - sorry for disappearing, I've been hacking nonstop since last week. The pollen is just awful - post-nasal drip irritates my throat, making me cough, which makes my throat hurt more. I've never had a sore throat like this not wind up being strep (I had a test done, it's not). We like... don't actually need trees, right? N's been tantrum-y and climbing as well. We've even started getting some foot-stomping tantrums! But he's also doing some cute stuff like bringing me his bowl or plate when he's done eating. (He mostly eats at the little table we got him from IKEA now.) Tomorrow he goes to his first nerd convention (Awesomecon). We're getting our picture taken with Weird Al - going to have him hold a sign (if he's willing) for my dad's retirement in June. My dad will freak. Then on Sunday my friend is coming over to watch N while we go to Avengers. FX I can stop coughing before all this happens. I am so over it. Oh and no way for PT right now. But MIL keeps insisting we show N Daniel Tiger. He barely wants to watch Sesame Street, but ok.

It was intense. I started taking claritin everyday at the 1st sign of spring this season to hopefully keep it at bay this year. Sorry you're dealing with that

I saw a tweet yesterday that said the amount of pollen in the air over DC totaled 127 pounds. It's currently pouring and I am ecstatic.

I'm hoping to start this summer. I would have started already if we weren't in a house selling black hole. C has been ready. She's been using the little potty for months, though I also know the horrors that are potty schedules and real life. DD1 was potty trained right around 2. That said, if you don't think he's ready, don't push it. There's really no rush.

Similar to hello Fresh, you cook it. The romanesco sauce was already prepared and everything was portioned. It actually took exactly 30 minutes to make. The only thing I don’t generally love about those types of meals is that the calorie count is typically higher than I like for one meal. But I’m weird and eat like 6 meals a day lol. I will definitely be buying them in the future, though!
