rebeccabunch we had that last year I believe around the same time. I had it the worst and coughed my innards out for weeks plus awful sinus infection. Lil fella got it too but he didn't cough and his eyes weren't crusted shut like mine, I ended up having to take a Zpack. Taitai despite that gif, I wouldn't have thought twice and have them stay as long as they need to. However, as guests, I would certainly be observant and respectful of the other person's home and habits. Hoping her appt. goes well. I know all too well how nervous she/they must be feeling. Also I will post the recipe links. danvers Thinking of you and DD2. Hope she'll be alright and so will you! She's been well for a while hasn't she...hoping that trend continues. We're into 1 week of snotty nose and I hope it's going away...at least its running clear and no longer pea green.

I love office space so much. That is A+ giffing right there. Good news - her appointment went well! Baby looked totally normal and healthy. So happy for my friend! They got the panorama genetic test sent in too, so we’re hoping for clear results on that as well. So a positive bit of news today for us 🤣

We are cutting canines today. Shed been chewing on everything in sight and sure enough, there they are. I think that's all our teeth once they all come in

cythe DS2 hasn't been eating or sleeping as well the past several days. His 3rd canine is just through and the 4th one is close to breaking through. This should be ALL THE TEETH until the 3 year molars. I'M SO DONE! I'm sure he is too. Thinking of you danvers. I hope today goes well and you get some answers.

We are also cutting canines over here...but then aren’t there also 2 year molars? I feel like DS2 got 2 sets of molars by the time he was 2. But I could be totally wrong. Clueless mom alert. 😬
In my ongoing house guest saga...they have a follow up appointment to get the panorama results on a May 3rd, so they will be here until May 4th at the very least. Likely longer, because the husband hasn’t heard anything back about job interviews. Since he hasn’t even interviewed yet, I can’t imagine he would be able to get an interview, offer, and plane tickets figured out in less than 2 weeks. Sigh.
Their kid also had watery diarrhea 4 times today and runs away and sits on stuff/hides when anyone tries to change his diaper. No leaks that I know of, but he also mashed a chocolate muffin on to another one of our dining room chairs.
I have now covered all the chairs and couches with towels.
I also told my friend that her kid needs to tidy up his toys before bed/outings, and they need to take him to a doctor tomorrow if he has a 3rd day of watery diarrhea/not eating. Their poor kid!

Taitai maybe they are called 2 year molars. Idk, I can't remember when DS1 got them. Here's a chart I found, lol. My kid has 1 set of molars so far and I'm just going to live in denial and pretend he won't be teething for a while after these canines come through.

I’d let a friend stay a week maybe. Up to 30 days? No way. Even if they cleaned up after themselves. I couldn’t do it. Taitai you are a much better and patient person than I am. I hope their kid gets over his illness soon and everyone else somehow avoids it. And that your dining chair isn’t ruined?

We had a great Easter. Who knew I’d enjoy holidays so much more with kids?! We all got a bit sunburned but I’ll take it over the wet and gloomy winter!

DD2’s appt was a bust. Our local pedi submitted paperwork to insurance for preapproval for allergy & asthma testing which is different than the immunology testing we were supposed to get today 🤷♀️. So paperwork has to be resubmitted because we don’t have $$$$ for this kind of stuff out of pocket! 😳
We rescheduled for summer. Immunologist was not super concerned based on the bloodwork we already did and I really don’t to use anymore sick days this school year (not even sure if I have any left!)

The day wasn’t really a bust though. We went to the zoo that’s just a hop away from the hospital and DD2 had a blast - Like 5 hours of wandering the zoo before she finally looked even a little tired for her nap. She repeated a ton of animal names and sounds with me and the 1:1 time was great because I never really get to outside of all her doctor appts.

AND THEN THEY GET 6 YEAR OLD MOLARS TOO!!! I had no idea until we had DS1s dental check up last year and she mentioned it. They didn't hurt but he was definitely slightly uncomfortable while they were coming in.

We only have barely 8 teeth over here so poor lil fella's food adventure is somewhat limited. I am almost certain by this age DS already had a full set of chompers. danvers , that totally stinks the your pedi's office made a mistake but looks like you took advantage of it and DD2 is totally adorable looks so big now! I just can't with all our babies growing up Taitai oh my! the poor kid. I would definitely be worried sick if my kid is having diarrhea pushing on 3 days..little kids get dehydrated really fast. Hopefully it's something he had eaten so it doesn't spread.

Taitai and everyone else, here are links to recipes for the carrot cakes This is the one I made - www.finecooking.com/recipe/ultimate-carrot-cakeI also just used all canola oil instead of the walnut and omitted mace just because I didn't have it in the pantry. I was tempted to do half veg oil and half butter but decided to keep it "light" I did not use the frosting - it looked too sweet for my taste. Instead I used this CC recipe from Stella Parks whom I have the biggest crush on - www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2017/10/cream-cheese-buttercream-recipe.htmlHer book BraveTart: Iconic American Desserts is totally worth to add to your library I really really want to try her carrot cake - www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2017/10/carrot-cake-recipe.htmlI opted to make the FC recipe because it was easy. If SP's CC frosting is an extra step with the custard, here's my recipe which isn't too sweet and is what I use for hubs guinness cake i make for his birthday every year 8oz Butter 16oz Cream Cheese 2C Confectioners sugar 2/3 C Heavy Whip Cream 1. Beat sugar and butter first until light and fluffy 2. Beat in cream cheese 3. Whip cream - medium stiff 4. Fold and mix into CC quickly It's important to follow the steps. Makes enough frosting to fill and torte a naked 3 layer 8" cake - Make 1.5x recipe to cover the whole cake

curmudgeon I wanted to reply about your co worker's story about animals in her kitchen. I am totally ignorant in thinking that everyone is mindful about kitchen hygiene. I am a total nazi about it. Now it has gotten me thinking.

danvers I’m so sorry to hear that your pedi messed up the paper work! 😱. I am glad that you made the best of it and got a nice day with your DD2 though. She is adorable! Great to hear that the blood work looks good so far too. Fingers crossed that you have a hiccup free appointment this summer 🤞 duskymonkey Thank you so much for the recipe! Saving both of those - esp the frosting! I absolutely hate it when frosting is too sweet. That recipe looks really good and right up my alley. Maybe I will try it out on the next cake I make - need to figure out a reason to make a cake...😁 curmudgeon Yes - the house guests staying up to 30 days was actually a surprise to us when they arrived. My friend had given me the impression before they got here that she and her toddler were going to chill here for “a few days” while her husband was interviewing for a job in Europe. She would do the prenatal appointment here, and then they’d be off once the husband got back from his interview. I figured that meant a stay of a week, max. When they all got here and I heard that there is no interview scheduled yet...and their only time frame limiting their stay is the 30 day visa, I was like...

I have similar feelings to duskymonkey Legit shocked someone would think that is acceptable inside a house - let alone a kitchen where food is prepared. I eat street food in my country...but I’m worried about eating home baked goods from American people I don’t know now. 😩😆

danvers that is infuriating 😠 We are at Disney, have been here all week just hubs and I. He forgot to put on deodorant so he went back to the hotel, I’m at animal kingdom sipping on a mocha. Could not be happier. I sent a poolside picture to all my workmates who pestered me for things while I was on vacation. Sorry not sorry. The kids have been ok with Nana, DS threw up the other night but she have him zofran and he was fine after that. 🤷♀️

Also based on how people treat the work bathrooms, no way am I eating something from their houses. I’m also a no on kids “helping.” If DS1 helps bake cookies or a cake, I tell people upfront that he cracked the eggs or stirred etc. I don’t know if other kids are sticking their hands in the batter. Oh I thought of another reason 😂 I’ve even caught MIL using expired ingredients. I still eat at her house but I tease her about it.
