Guys, I have an embarrassing story.
Last year when I moved, I packed up all my baking powder and put it in a Mason jar for safe moving. I didnt label it because yolo, I guess. For the last year I've been baking things that taste like complete and utter shit. I (somehow??) assumed it was my baking ability.
Today - a year later - I made some southern style biscuits that called for 4 tsp of baking powder. So I grab my Mason jar of unlabeled white powder substance and make my biscuits. They taste like garbage.
It dawns on me, finally, that maybe JUST MAYBE I put the baking SODA in the Mason jar instead. You know, because the baking soda box doesn't close, so that would be a prime candidate for moving in a Mason jar.
So I tested it. Sure enough. Baking soda. 4.5 tsp of baking soda went into these biscuits I made today. I cant think about it without feeling vomity.

Happy Easter! We've had a good weekend so far. We went to a fun Easter egg hunt yesterday morning, went to church last night, and are driving to my mom's this morning to spend the day with my family. I'm sorry cythe, but that's funny. I glad you figured it out!

The girls had a great time hunting eggs (animal crackers & Apple Jacks are our “egg stuffing” of choice here 😂) and getting their baskets. H’s extended side was surprisingly drama-less which was nice. The kids played outside the entire time and all of us came back with touches of sun! DD2 is obsessed with farm animals so she was in heaven with all the animals.
She’s also added the word “bubble” to her repertoire - bringing the grand total to 4 words. 🤷♀️ She is signing a lot without prompting so that’s promising for her speech session tomorrow too.

Also I’m 99% certain we are done nursing here and I think I’m ok with it? She’s attempted to latch the last few days but has settled for cuddles when that didn’t satisfy her at wake up and bedtime. We are probably done having kids so it feels weird to think I’ll never do this again but then at the same time I actually get my body back for me and just me.
Feelz... I hasz them 🤷♀️

A rather late happy Easter O17. cythe oh man! Glad you figured out your baking soda mix-up. I actually empty mine into a container. Easier to scoop and measure. I too have a a mystery unlabeled item; spice in a jar which for the life of me cannot figure out what it is. Even my mom is stumped. I should just really dump it. CoachTsWife hope you had a great day with family danvers, I actually got some small goodies for DS. I totally forgot about animal crackers. He’s never had any 😳 anyways the Easter bunny left a trail of eggs filled with blueberries, strawberries, nuts, gummy bears, chocolate covered raisins, m&ms and a golden egg with a couple of Ferraro rocher. Also cuddles are good replacements for nursing. The only time I get to cuddle now with lil fella is during nursing which I’ve started dropping last week due to 1 nap transition.

danvers Hugs on the weaning thing - I know I will feel the same way once I wean DS2 in the fall. It will be a chapter closing in my life, but also I’ll be really happy to have my body back after what seems like an eternity of TTC, IVF, pregnancy, breastfeeding, pregnancy again, breastfeeding again.... But yes, I know I’ll be sad/emotional about it too.

Our Easter bunny is not so healthy as the ones you guys have....no nuts or crackers or raisins...just jelly beans, Reese’s pb eggs, Ferraro Rochers, and money 🤣
At least we make amends by not letting DS2 eat any of it, and DH and our nanny’s daughter will eat about 90% of DS1’s treats 😬

We had a busy but great weekend despite lil fella being under the weather. He got a cold mid week which I suspect included an EI on Friday. Lots of snot and sleeping with him is like sleeping with baby Darth Vader. He seems to be back to himself today and we have clear snot running instead of pea green so I think we’re on the mend 🤞 He had a rough week though with our nap transition so we’re just winging it and did 2 naps when he wake up early and from not sleeping well the night before. I managed to make a carrot cake for Easter and am really pleased with the recipe and frosting technique which will be my go to from here on out. We gave roughly 2/3 of the cake away and working out way through the rest 😋

Taitai, lil fella doesn’t get any candy yet either and DS only gets 1 pc of treat after lunch or dinner if he beats the timer and cleans his plate. It’s sad but we still have a few candy from Halloween still. Hubs and I will be sharing his Easter hunt loot. DS also thinks that the boxes of nerds are “shake” toys and gives them to lil fella to shake 🤣 and we’re leaving it at that. He’ll find out soon enough so we’re pretending to be ignorant about it. Oops!

Taitai so far so good, he’s been asleep since 830 and had. Really good nap this afternoon with no crying midst and he doesn’t sound like darth Vader so I should probably go sleep. Just needed to unwind after folding the laundry and tidying up the house. The cake is pretty good And every I gave it to said they loved it. I do have another recipe I wan to try so not totally convinced yet however the CC frosting is definitely a keeper.

We still have a ton of his Halloween candy...like a whole small gift bag full 😩

Wednesday will be 4 weeks from last nurse. I didnt realize it was our session so Im bummed about that but otherwise im good with it. Im happy i can move throughout the world without considering nursing and that i can sleep in!
For those that wean though, i learned the bloating and all over cramps i got starting the second day after not nursing were normal. They lasted about 10 days. I did not get them this strong with my boys. I also didnt have the huge emotional swing i had with them though, weird trade off!

Taitai i remember a couple of weeks ago your DS1 had a cold virus where his eyes were crusty and he had a lot of congestion right? It got better and then came back, right? Halfway around the world my DD has something similar with the eyes, the break in the symptoms etc and my DS2 got it. Hes not as bad but DD has had a terrible nose for two weeks. How long did it last for your DS1? I realize its likely not the same virus but humor me.

My Dad came here from the USA, and 2 days later DS1 had the crusty eye. It’s very possible that he brought the virus with him. For my DS1, the crusty eye lasted for about a week. He also had a runny nose and some coughing, but not bad. No redness or pink in the eyes...it was mainly in his right eye, but then it went to the left eye for a bit too. He complained of his eyes being itchy...also, after he would rub his eyes, they’d get a little red, but not like bacterial pink eye red. Once he stopped itching, they went back to normal. DS2 never got it thank goodness. I hope your kids get over it soon!!

So, do you guys all remember that horrible house guest friend of mine? They’re baaaaack....of course their kid has a 102.7 fever, is coughing up a storm (all over the toys/my kids and doesn’t cover his mouth or like washing his hands), AND - cherry on top — their kid had diarrhea all over one of our fabric covered dining room chairs this morning. I feel so bad for him, but - WHY IS HE ALWAYS SICK when they come to stay with us?? They have been here for 20 hours. They have no leave date, because they are waiting to hear back on whether my friend’s husband will get this job interview in Europe. So they’re just hanging here until his recruiter calls. I didn’t think they’d be staying here again, but my friend found out she was pregnant a few weeks ago (total surprise, as they needed IVF for their first one and had a long IF struggle). So....she asked if they could come to our country and stay with us for a bit, since we have good hospitals here and she needs prenatal care/genetic screening asap. So, here we are. Their visas are good for 30 days, so I guess that’s the longest they could stay. Cross your fingers that my kids don’t get sick and that we don’t have any more furniture casualties 🤣😂😭😩 Oh - and their kid takes all the toys out, and never.puts.them.away. And then they leave/go to bed. Me when I walked out to the disaster of our living room this morning:

cythe CoachTsWife I know. It’s awful - but, she’s pregnant and 38 and scared/excited because they never thought they’d have another kid, and they need a place to stay until they move either to Europe or the states. So I feel like I just need to be supportive. It feels like the right thing to do - even though they are challenging house guests. Will keep you updated on the saga! DH and I are working on subtly informing them of our clean up rules. One day at a time....

Being supportive and letting them stay is the right thing (come fight me). Its not like in the states where they may know someone else to burden for a while. I just... don't think I could stop my face from doing the thing. The resting bitch face thing. (Ps I hope the kiddo is okay and the poop was just a travel thing)

Taitai I totally get it. I couldn't say no to them either, you guys are good friends. I hope their kid is feeling better and they figure out how to be good house guests asap. I can't imagine being out of country and in her situation. I hope everything goes perfectly for her pregnancy!

Is anyone else amazed at how much food their kids can eat? I'm sure this is a FTM thing but like, I have to order her her own food out at restaurants now or else we both go hungry.
She just demolished a full grilled cheese, an entire banana and her pouch. Oof.

She just demolished a full grilled cheese, an entire banana and her pouch. Oof. Oh my, yeah. Not so much with DS2, he's definitely pickier than DS1 and will refuse something he ate yesterday and/or shove food into his mouth that he refused yesterday. Drives me BONKERS. DS1 always ate/eats whatever we put in front of him and he spoiled us I guess. But I have definitely felt it in our grocery bill and have overestimated how many leftovers we will have for a given meal.
With DS1, we have to order adult meals for him sometimes -- depending on the place. He's 3.5 and he usually eats more than I do at meals.
I'm already cringing at what our grocery bill will be in 10+ years.

Taitai, I have no words. You are a saint of a friend... or you've maybe lost your mind. Because the thought of living with another family "up to 30 days" is enough to make me lose my mind. I really do hope this works out for the best for you all. Hopefully job recruiter calls soon for everyone's sake so they can make a plan of action. Oh my....

DD2 has her immunology appointment tomorrow. It's at a children's hospital right across the state line from us so I've never been there but it's supposed to be really good for this kind of stuff. I'm not sure what testing will look like or how long everything will take. We have an 8:00am so I will need to be out of the house by 6:00am! Up until today I wasn't really worried about the logistics of it but DD2 is definitely not as "easy" as DD1 (and hates all things doctors) so this might not go so smoothly. It's just me so I have loaded the diaper bag up with snacks and toys and can hopefully occupy this kid long enough to fill out paper work, wait in waiting rooms, and whatever else needs to happen. FX she sleeps great and will be super chill tomorrow because it's going to be a long day.

danvers Good luck at the appointment tomorrow! I was actually just thinking about your DD2 and wondering when they were going to run those immunology tests. You have a good plan, and I hope it goes well - please keep us updated! rebeccabunch If I was in my friend’s position, I would absolutely have been putting myself in a hotel until we were all better. I actually probably would have just done a hotel for the entire time....but that’s just me. We don’t even stay at our parents’ homes when we’re visiting the USA - we like our own space and routines. The kid had diarrhea again this morning, but it didn’t leak out of his diaper this time. 🙌 He still has a bad cough though, and he won’t eat or sleep that much. It sucks, and it’s extra work for all of us and our nanny. I hope he gets better soon. My friend and her husband are at the doctor for her first prenatal check up - hope it goes well! Fingers crossed for happy news.
