Unfortunately we don't have cable so we won't be watching until it comes out on DVD so it will be a while yet. The forecast for this week is crazy warm like 70s then boom Thursday night they're expecting snow! It's a wonder if we're going to get sick again just as we've recovered. Going to catch up on last week's thread - BRB

cythe I just read your post about E. I am so so sorry you're having to go through this. It's nerve wrecking for sure. Big big hugs. Know that just by following your instincts and taking all the necessary steps is the very best you can do. Hoping it's a case in which treatment will be available. Thinking of E, you and your H. Please keep us posted

Well speaking of GOT, lil fella lately has been speaking 3-4 word sentences not all entirely clear and just last week, he started running around last week saying Shut the door, Shut the door! and it totally reminded me of poor Hodor. BTW lil fella can totally open doors too! Luckily our front door handle sticks and hard to open. CoachTsWife its so hard to get a direct explanation from pre schoolers and glad to hear baby is fine but it's unnerving to not have eyes constantly on them which is impossible. Taitai glad to hear your dad is having a great time with the kids and hopefully DS' eye will clear up. rebeccabunch CXGF sounds like a good show. BTW hubs and I are catching up on Blacklist now - it's surprisingly a good show despite the heavy gunfires

duskymonkey We don’t GOT, but my secretary is obsessed....which means I have a general Cliff’s Notes understanding of the show. Hope the ending isn’t spoiled for you before it comes out on DVD! CoachTsWife Sorry about your DS2, but yay about the farm! We have extended family members with farms, and I know how much fun it is going to the farm as a kid! Any animals like chickens or cats or horses?

Day 3 of the beach - DS1’s eye has totally cleared up! Must have been viral or something. We have been hanging by the pool and eating lots of tasty seafood. My dad is already super tan. We’ll be ready to leave tomorrow though - I think all of us can take only so much sun and pool time before we get worn out!

Taitai several cats, a dog, a horse (my niece barrel races) and LOTS of cows. DS1 pretty much hung out on the swing set the whole time and DS2 loved yelling at the cows on the other side of the fence. It is times like those that I wish we could live back home near my family. Things seem more simple there, though I know that is not true. Our life would be very different, as my job does not exist in that community, and I know there will be so many more opportunities for our boys in the metro area we live, but I do sometimes yearn to move back there. Half of my family are farmers and I grew up very different than my boys will. That isn't bad, but part of me feels like they're missing something as well. PDQ poof

Just got all caught up on last weeks randoms and this weeks. Work has been crazy busy and I just finished up 6 days and what feels like a million hours.
I’m currently getting my hair done, I have an appointment this afternoon and looking forward to the rest of my days off.

I’m actually back to teaching - my amazing student teacher is phasing out and it’s exhausting to do my job again 😂
DD2 is as clingy as ever. My dad stayed over last night as he had a mtg in one of the cities around here and DD2 barely looked at him. DD1 was in heaven and stayed up way past her bedtime playing with him. He even surprised us and stopped on his way back home for her soccer practice.

CoachTsWife adorable! That hair! 💕 Baby girl has a tooth that just popped through and a canine that is bulging. Probably explains all the drool and snot. But she slept all night last night for the first time in weeks. Thank goodness. Today is big kids Easter egg hunt at school. He’s beyond excited. Next week he is off school for spring break. Say a prayer for the nanny. 😂

CoachTsWife Those are beautiful pics, and your DS2 is such a cutie! That scenery reminds me of where I grew up - farming community with lots of fresh air and open spaces. We even had a “drive your tractor to school day” at my HS 🤣 I have similar feelings to you, although while I have nostalgia for that lifestyle...I’m much happier in an urban environment - it just suits me better. We do love visiting farms when we are home though! Also - barrel racing is no joke. I get so scared when I watch my H’s aunt do it. So fast!

We are back from the beach. We had a great time, but everyone got their fair share of sun, and we are all happy to be back home.
DS1’s crusty eye came back, and I came down with a fever, body aches, and some stomach/lower GI issues the last day...so it’s better that we’re home. I feel better after some pepto and Tylenol. Let’s hope it’s just something funny that I ate and nothing contagious! 🤞🤞
Also - we watched Paddington 2 on the way home, and that is a really cute movie!

Oh yes, FFA sponsors the "drive your tractor to school" day. My niece (the older sister of the barrel racer) is President of the school's FFA chapter. lol
I hope you and your DS feel better soon! Glad you enjoyed your trip.

CoachTsWife , look at all the green grass! and he's waayyy too cute! How is your H doing? Taitai glad to hear you had a great time despite the eye and tummy issues. GOT is scripted well and watching it is pretty entertaining so I don't care if I happen on spoilers. Also we love reading Paddington and all about his "chunks" . I'll have to ask my BIL to ahem! get it for us then Hubs grew up on a farm too and he still would love to live in one which is why we're out in the middle of no where however no property to speak off but we can see the stars in the sky and our milk comes from the dairy farm just down the road. Farm life is no joke though...you never NEVER get a break. The animals always need taking care of no matter what. Urban life doesn't appeal much to us. The only way I would live in a big city if I had boatloads of money and have a penthouse however I did live in NYC and own a house in JC haha! I do love the city for other things but I always yearned to go upstate to the catskills and Adirondacks. August Blooms enjoy your days off! Well I guess old man winter hasn't left yet...or rather he went on Spring break and now he's back! How appropriate as we are awaiting the season finale of GOT. Here we go again guys! Better batten down the hatches! We're expecting blizzard conditions starting this afternoon oy!

duskymonkey, my husband is doing pretty good. He had to mow the yard for the first time this season on Monday and he was pretttyyyy sore afterwards, and he gets sore if he plays too rough with the boys, but overall, he's going great. No more restrictions, yay!

My family is back in South Dakota and they're all sooo over winter and preparing for 12-36 inches of snow.
Glad it's missing me!

It was supposed to be rainy today and I was excited for it to get rid of some of the winter dust and dirt. Seems like the rain has pretty much missed us though I did make chicken noodle soup in the instant pot which was tasty. But then I ate too much and now I am just staring at the mess not wanting to clean up

Snow storms in mid-April, ugh - puke! So not fair! It seems more and more that Spring isn’t even a thing anymore in many places in the states. Just winter to summer!

Sooo any idea how it works if my kid’s school wants him to repeat pre-K because he’s not ready for kindergarten? I mean it’s a private school so they can do what they want but, doesn’t he have to legally be in school by the time he’s 5? 😬
They feel like his motor skills are delayed and his emotional maturity is just not where it needs to be. Poor kid.

Poor kid. Enrollment age and cut-offs vary by state. If he is retained, will they be doing anything to help him with these delays? Or just hoping that “time” will fix it all? I’d probably want to know if he’s retained will he just be doing the exact same Pre-K program again in the exact same way? I don’t think he would remember being retained at the PreK (or even Kinder) level so I wouldn’t worry to much about that, I would just want to ensure that there is a way to address these “delays” so that he can best be successful whatever class he is in

It is not helpful when people point out the differences in personality between DD1 and DD2. I don’t think people are doing it with negative intentions but I do not need to hear for the 1000x time that DD2 is so much more “serious” or that DD1”never threw tantrums”.
I am acutely aware DD2 seems to be a good deal more “intense” then DD1. Im having a hard time accepting that her current demeanor may not be “just a phase” without everyone pointing out how “easy” it “good” DD1 was. She was (and continues to be) a unicorn first kid.... I just do not need the general public pointing all this out continually.

Everyone in the car couldn't stop pointing out how "X or Y never cried like this in the car" . Thanks everyone, for your invaluable input. Let the kids be how they are, people!

I agree that I'd be interested in knowing if they will be doing to help him develop motor skills or emotional maturity besides just making him do what he did last year and hope for the best.

bootsorhearts1 as danvers stated, every state is different in requirements. Out here I just found out that Kinder isn't a requirement at all. I am no help as the school system here is uncharted territory for me. Now that DS is enrolled to be in Kinder in the upcoming school year I should probably ask his teachers if he is ready...I have zero clue . Many days I look at his behavior and think he isn't ready but I really don't know as I have no frame of reference. Also don't beat yourself up because sometimes as much as we want our kids to meet all the predetermined milestones, it's better to allow them to be in an environment they can be comfortable in achieving success rather than being feeling frustrated with falling behind. As suggested, follow up and see if the school has any plans to help him further along. There are probably many other kids in and has been in the same situation.

Taitai I tell everyone out here, there are only 2 seasons, Blazing hot or Stupidly cold. It's also common to expect snow storms into May. I remember a couple of years ago hubs had changed out our winter tires to summer tires Labour Day weekend and a week later I was cursing driving to work in a snow storm. We will now wait until at least the 2nd week of May to do that regardless of 70K temps which was that just the last week! Now were back to freezing temps. Weather be cray out here I tell ya! cythe I hope your family is safe. Luckily the blizzard picked up during the night and we were just at the fringes of it so it wasn't as bad as the last one.

Everyone always points out how “easy” and “chill” DS2 is in comparison to DS1...often right in front of DS1! Let’s not give the kids complexes, okay??! It’s really frustrating for me too. Sigh.

Poor kid. I don't know what state you're in, but here (Missouri) you can send your child to K if they're 5 by July 31st, OR you can wait and send them the following year. It is quite common to "hold kids back" and send them when they're 6, especially if they have summer birthdays.
Like others said, I'd see what their plan is for helping him.

danvers thank you! Yeah I’m not sure so that gives me some ideas of what to ask. We had him evaluated and he was age appropriate in all the areas they assessed except for fine motor skills. We had his eyesight and hearing tested too. He holds his pencil all funky and we keep correcting him but they actually said we should let him hold it however? Which is so odd to me. His teacher feels like he won’t be able to keep up with his writing skills and he will get frustrated, he’s also not very emotionally and socially mature so another year would give him time to ‘grow up’ a little. No one has said we should be doing any kind of special intervention with him but we may still look into an occupational therapist.

We have the craziest weekend but it’s all good things... Today we have a church Easter event for kids at 10, a baby shower at 12, and then D, me and my sister are all taking my mom to high tea for her birthday at 2:30. Hoping to do our taxes tonight Tomorrow I am signed up to bring snack for coffee time at church and then my BIL is getting baptized. We will be going to his parents house for lunch after. We do technically have a birthday party at 3 tomorrow too but it’s a casual get together and I’m guessing we won’t make it It’s going to be a tiring weekend 😬
