Just a heads up that rock n plays are being recalled now. You just have to send a certain part of it back with either the receipt or the month and year it was bought. Less than six months is a full refund. Mine is from DD (4 years ago) so I guess I should just take it to the dumpster day tomorrow. It's going to make me a little sad because it was such a lifesaver with her and for a few nights with DS. I think I read anything longer than six months is a voucher? It’s worth a shot looking into it because maybe you can get something else? Maybe not sleep related but another kind of baby gear?

DH is out of town right now but called to make sure I knew about the recall. I haven't been using it for sleep since all the info came out. Just as a safe place to strap him in downstairs. So maybe we can get a bouncer or maybe I'll just see how the swing goes. It's going to be a pain walking him back upstairs for sleep everytime but maybe it will help us get into a routine.

What do you all put baby in when you need to shower, eat or take care of things around the house? I’ve always used the RNP for that as well as supervised naps. With the recall I’m not going to use it anymore but I’m at a loss as to what else to try.

When E was little if I needed to shower I brought either the bouncer or high chair (when she could sit up) into the bathroom with me and would peek out the curtain every few minutes to check on her. But the bouncer is light weight and easy to carry around for me. Or you could just put them in their crib knowing it's a safe space.

I’ve been using the rock n play too & putting it in the bathroom door. I’ll probably switch to the bouncer or like pambee said putting her in the crib. tapdancer I’ve been having dd nap in the bouncer or the mamaroo and I just keep an eye on her. But also switching to crib naps isn’t a bad idea.

It just takes up so much room.

We do bouncers or the twinz pillow (like a double boppy) when we need to set down. But often we just do their play mat too. These guys don't mind tummy time so much (DD hated it).

Does recall mean the RNP cannot be used even to set down while they are supervised? Or just not for sleeping?

I’m so torn and sad on this RNP thing I have no idea what I feel like will be a functional substitute. I used it for DD for when I did dishes and shower cooked etc I would just drag it wherever. Our house is small, we have the RNP and sit me up and that sit for baby gear I never got a swing or bouncer before. Are bouncers just as easily moved around you think? Then I just worry about my giant dog with something like that.

The SNOO is here, and we used for L last night. He went in at 7 pm, and we took him out for good at 7 am. He woke up for a bottle at 11, and pooped at 1:30. Each time he finished the bottle, he immediately fell back asleep in the SNOO. MIL may have offered to rent us a second one for J, who was up three times and took forever to go back down each time. haleyscott was it you who was also waiting on the SNOO?

Our power was out twice yesterday with the longer stretch bring about 6 hours. Would you assume breast milk that was in the freezer is no longer good?

If not, can you feed it today/tomorrow and pump to replace those feedings to get more back in the freezer? I'm sorry that happened, that sucks so bad.

It was solid this morning but the power was out from 9pm-3am so I’m not sure if it had thawed and refroze or not.

But something I did last time was a coin on a bad of milk laying flat or like on top of an ice cube in a tray then if it was to thaw you could tell. If it had crystals still it’s good tho so I’m sure it’ll be okay

I had a growth scan today 😳 I’m so so scared and I feel like a giant baby because of it. DD was 6.8 (at 37w when induced) and I had a 3rd degree tear. This ones 7.13 give or take a pound at 38 weeks so my head goes to 8.13 and I still have 2 weeks if not more. I’m so scared at what will happen during this delivery. This makes MH sound terrible so I can’t really talk about it IRL he’s really not, but we have much different sex drives and for some reason my head goes to I’ll get a terrible tear and sex will never be comfortable for me and that would break him. Like, we’re barely managing our sex life by meeting in the middle with it before this pregnancy. I’m trying to take deep breaths but for some reason I’m so focused on this. No sex for him would be a huge huge issue. I wouldn’t enjoy it either but clearly sit at two different ends for this .

nmom, my 32 week scan said the boys were both already 7 pounds. At birth (37+5) they were only 6.8 and 6.15.

nmom I get being nervous. Anecdote but DS1 was 8 lbs 3 oz and I had maybe a third or fourth degree tear and it took a loooong time for things to feel ok again. But DS2 was 9 lbs 14 oz and I “only” had a 2nd degree and actually feel a lot better down there post partum. So hoping recovery isn’t as long / painful as last time.

nmom the point of my post was that I feel, for me, the second recovery could be better even with a bigger baby. Apologies if that was not clear.

Actually after my first I was totally fine. 6 weeks check up I was ready for sex everything went okay. I nearly broke my tailbone so I think the third degree tear was NBD to me because I wasn’t sure what part of what hurt worse lol.

nmom I had very similar experiences to you with both my labors. First was 6lb 8oz and I had 3rd almost 4th degree tear and very bad bruising and second was similar he was 7lb 8oz so the bigger size didn’t really change how bad it was. They also estimated him larger at 35 week scan, said he was already 6lb 7oz which I don’t think was accurate. With my first they said she was more than what she ended up being at birth. So the ultrasounds can be very off and I commiserate with the fear of tears! I hope yours isn’t as bad this time.

nmom Here is my anecdote. I had a small tear with my first and she was only 6lbs 8 oz so my smallest baby. I somehow didnt tear with this most recent birth even though my 3rd baby was 8 lbs. Hopefully any tearing will be less even with a bigger baby. I had a lot of anxiety about birth even though i did 2 times before so I understand being worried about how its gonna go.
