orangehibiscus FWIW both my pedi and LC told me that they used to say no pacifiers because they cause confusion, but they dont any more. I have given all 3 of my babies a soothie paci within 48 hours of birth. I have a complete oversupply and tiny babies especially like to suck for comfort, but if I let him stay on more than 5 mins he is puking all over the place. He wont be content with a paci if hes truely hungry so you'll know the difference.

We used a pacifier with DD from 3 weeks to about 4 months. She went through that horrible sleep regression and started to refuse it but it was helpful while we had it. DS will take one from DH or DD but not from me. Smart little booger. He doesn't hang out on the boob quite as much as DD so it's ok.

Yeah i am team pacifier. I was told about nipple confusion too with my first. That was never a problem for either of my kids. They always new what the difference was. i slipped my sleepy newborns off my boob an onto a pacifer to comfort suck. This kid will be getting a pacifer too as long as she will take it.

I think we may get the twins pacifiers. We didn't use then with DD but I can't sit and comfort nurse both. What brand do you all use? Soothies?

I think my bra gave me a clogged duct earlier. It was horrible. My chest hurt & I felt like I had the flu with aches and chills. MH put my pump together for me so I pumped until it felt mostly empty. Then I switched bras and took a Motrin & then dd woke up so I had her nurse from that side. I’m slowly starting to feel better. It was miserable. I cried. Then ds2 had a meltdown during it.
Oh and this was all 45 minutes before mh had a work call 😂

I use whatever they gave me at the hospital Eames. I think I also have some Nuk ones, but she hasn’t tried those yet. ETA: They gave us a Soothie at the hospital. Ouch! Sorry for the clogged duct haleyscott. I’m glad you’re feeling better though.

Is it normal for my boobs to feel hot to the touch? Nothing else is hurting or seems different.

I’m definitely having night sweats also, it’s the worst!

It will feel painful in your breast and you will feel flu like (fever, sluggish, etc) so just keep an eye on things.

Leroy just started nursing well. Also, today is my due date!
My LC still wants me to pump some and I am not responding well. I didn't pump for a day because he was exclusively nursing but she said I'd tank my supply. Which I didn't understand but something about him being a preemie.
I tried to pump at 3am and got 1 ounce! I was getting 6 oz so easy before. I've been an over producer but I wonder if my supply did take a hit by not pumping for a day or 2.
I'll be attached to the pump and eating oatmeal to try to correct it.

Yogurt, hooray for nursing well! Could you be getting less pumped because most of it's going straight to baby? Hopefully everything is regulated to his needs plus a little extra. We're still using nipple shields over here, and the LC told me to pump after because they are not as efficient at draining the breast with them on. I was able to latch them last night without them, but then they both got pissed off. Still trying every day.

Eames that's great you got them to latch though! They'll get it eventually 😀 Yogurt I had the same thought, that since he nursed more maybe that's why you didn't pump as much? Babies are usually more effective than the pump at getting the milk out, so maybe he just ate more from the breast than you normally pump.

Dd’s been clusterfeeding all day. I’m so sore from it and it’s also harder to deal with when I have other kids needing me. Her naps also weren’t that great.
We had friends over to meet her tonight. I brought her up two hours ago to put to bed & she’s still awake. And wanting to nurse. I feel so frustrated and bad bc I feel frustrated. I’m also worried my supply dropped and that’s why she is clusterfeeding.
I’m hoping it’s just normal and everything is trying to regulate?

haleyscott, it's so tiring, but I think it's completely normal! It will also help to establish your supply as baby gets bigger. I hear you on the difficulty when other kids need you. Dinner and bedtime is usually disastrous around here. It's just so hard to meet everyone's needs! Including my own, ha.

Eames thanks for the reassurance!! With mh home I haven’t had to worry about dinner and bedtime with my older two but he goes back to traveling at the end of the month more than likely and I need to start getting a routine down before that happens!

Bumping to see who else had the 2-day old cluster feeding in the hospital? My gosh this boy wants to do nothing but eat. It’s supposed to be good for my supply but I’m nervous he’s going to go all night!

Like he took an epic nap in the late afternoon and then was just up eating constantly. I think it's to help bring in your milk.

@ges that happened with us too. I was exhausted and would call the nurses to come get her as soon as she was done because I would be on the verge of falling asleep. I think that second night was the hardest though.

We just tried nursing without the shields and it resulted in all 3 of us crying. I really want that easy BF relationship I had with DD but it's not there yet.
Damn this is so hard and makes me want to consider exclusively pumping. They just prefer the bottles to breast and with twins, every bottle feeding thing you're supposed to do to protect the BF relationship is just so hard and takes up so much time with two.

Oh no Eames! Sorry for all the tears. I can’t imagine how difficult nursing twins is. If you need/want to EP for your preference/sanity, then do it. Hugs!
