I wish we would all get more time to ourselves especially like akwild mentioned about feeling touched out. I'm really trying to work on self care but it is so difficult. Not only that but I really feel like I've lost who I used to be before kids. Like now, my only identity is "mom", and that's it. I had my first time away from DS on Friday. It was so needed but at the same time felt weird. I had a therapy appointment and their dad was in town so he actually watched both kids solo while I went to therapy and grabbed clicklist groceries. It was only two hours total, but it was nice to be child free for a minute. Of course DS wouldn't take the bottle but we will keep trying.

It's especially hard for me with dd2 since she won't eat from anything but me I can never be away for very long. My friends are doing a spa day, yoga, and brunch this weekend and I have to miss out on most of it because it's all taking place 30+ minutes from our house so I won't be able to go back and forth to feed DD. I feel like I'm missing out on everything that's fun this year. I'm going to wean DD by the time she's one so I just keep telling myself it's only a year, it's only a year.

pixiepink24 , brenna , I felt so much the same about losing my identity when I had DS. I wasn't working anymore, had very little time for myself, it was hard to get away and I just became "Mom". This time has been easier in that sense because I already stayed at home and had already found more of my new identity as Mom. So I haven't had that overwhelming feeling of losing my "self" this time since I'm still Mom 🙂 But I definitely struggle with self care and having time away. I feel like I'm doing better with self care with DD than I did with DS because I learned how important it is the first time around, but it's so hard to juggle in time to take care of myself in addition to everyone else. My DD also is not interested in bottles so I can't go too far. We haven't really tried to push bottles though, so perhaps if we worked harder at it maybe she would take one. I also imagine that if she were hungry enough she would figure it out. But it's not like I have much to go and do for hours away from home anyways, so I just don't bother. Oh, and then when I DO leave the kid with MH I feel a little guilty. So that's fun. I am sometimes bummed about the fun, adult things that I can't go and do (or even the simple errands that are 100x more difficult with two littles in tow!), but that time will come again. When I was pregnant with DD, MH really stepped in and got more involved with taking care of DS and taking him out and about. Those months in there where I was getting more time to relax by myself and was able to get out more alone were kind of a tease!! Haha!

DD had her first solid food this afternoon! A delicious blend of smooshed banana and breast milk 🍌 She was unimpressed!

DD is getting to the point where three naps is too many, but 2 is not enough. Her bedtime is getting later and later because she just isn't tired for her last nap until about 5:30. I don't remember when dd1 transitioned to two. I'm not looking forward to it, plus then her and dd1 will be on completely opposite nap schedules 😥

I think she still needs it, but it's getting harder to make it happen every day. It's falling at a weird time some days.

It's gotten hard to make any naps happen around here this week. And the 2 1/2 year old hasn't napped on the weekend in a couple weeks now. I think we need to implement a quiet hour or something in his room because I am not ready to have a kid that doesn't nap at all. And he does still need it, it just hasn't been worth the fight.

We do quiet time with my three year old. She naps about half the time and just plays in her room the other half of the time. she is still a pain sometimes, but it's a definite improvement to have a scheduled quiet time every day as part of the routine.

Those of you who've had six month appointments, should I expect that DD will get the flu shot at her appt tomorrow even though we're towards the end of flu season?

Our pedi recommended it and we got the first shot and will have to go back for the second in mid April. She said she recommends it through the end of April and said at least then after this year DD will only have to get one shot instead of two.

I asked about it but we ended up not doing it. The peds office was not confident they would still be able to get it for his second dose. She said it would have some effect only having received the 1 dose, but he'd still need 2 next flu season if he ended up not being able to get both this time. Since it's already mid-March, he doesn't go to daycare yet, the rest of the family was vaccinated, and hands are always washed before picking him up after coming home from somewhere else I decided to pass.

If we couldn't get the second dose and it would only be partially effective, I probably would have passed too!

There's still a lot of the flu going around here (a friend's 4.5 month old was just in the ER for the the flu 😔) and there was no concern with being able to get the second dose, so she got it.
Poor girl was really not feeling it at the pedi today. She showed off her new yell for the nurse, the doctor and the shot nurse!

DD did some awesome unassisted sitting tonight! Still with a spotter of course, but I think at one point she may have sat unassisted chewing on her blocks for nearly 60 seconds. She's really getting the hang of it!

Luckily nothing has made it here. But it’s so crazy.
