Has anybody given any thought about packing your hospital bag yet? Anything you would/wouldn't pack this time around?
I've been focusing on finding cute comfy clothes I can wear at the hospital and immediately post partum. I was definitely neither cute nor comfy my first time around! Ive found a few pairs of cute pjs from target that would be ok to wear If guests came by to visit. Now I'm looking for some more clothing like items to wear when I get home from the hospital.
Also anybody have any nursing tanks they recommend? I think my plan this time is to wear black yoga pants, a nursing tank, and a cardigan so I feel a little more put together. I could never find a nursing tank I loved last time and they are so expensive to just try out.

Yes, I'm already plotting what to pack because I wasn't prepared when I went into labor at 33 weeks with the twins and all of my bras were in the washing machine and it took DH a ridiculously long time to bring me a bra to the hospital. I think the final straw is when I told him I'd flashed his grandfather - those hospital robes have slits in the front and weren't covering my big boobs very well. I just ordered some nursing bras, shirts, yoga pants, and a pajama set from Motherhood as I'd like to avoid that hospital robe this time around. If anyone has recs for plus size nursing wear please let me know. A cardigan is a good idea sunny75, I've also debated using this as an excuse to splurge on a cute new overnight bag, but we'll see. My packing list so far: clothes referenced above and would like to find a cute/comfortable nursing dress as well. robe Socks - maybe with grips on bottom? giant comfortable underwear giant pads (hoping hospital provides but just in case) nipple shields long phone charger chapstick and hand cream toiletries - soap, face wash, face lotion, body lotion, deodorant, brush, shampoo/conditioner, dry shampoo, some makeup because I do tend to feel better with a face on, q-tips hair ties and headbands Snacks notebook and pen to keep track of visitors, instructions, jot down memories, etc. kindle and charger dvd's (nurse recommended as there are dvd players in each room) Onesies for baby, coming home outfit, blanket for pics Gifts for older siblings (hopefully the under 18 visitor ban is lifted by then)

I bought a new nursing nightgown and robe. Got them in sale for super cheap so if they get ruined I will just throw them out there. I am also bringing a nursing tank and mat pj bottoms (they look like sweat pants) for coming home.
Other than that just toiletries, hair elastics, and stuff for baby.

I really like the 4 pack of Felina cammies from Costco. They are not nursing tanks, but can be pulled down like one.
I never use much of my own stuff at the hospital, with my first I dont think my main bag ever even made it out of the car till we were ready to leave. I did have some essentials with me though.
I definitely want - Phone charger Chapstick Maternity pants to wear home Nursing bras Nursing pads Nipple balm Hair ties Cute going home outfit, maybe 2 since we are team green. Baby blanket for pictures that my other kids have hospital pictures with Toothbrush and toothpaste Hair brush A bag to take all the mesh underwear, etc home in DH's nice camera
I guess that is a pretty long list And I guess I dont have that much time till it is time to actually start packing, wow

Last post! Now I really will pull together a bag soon, prob tomorrow. Best advice I ever got was to pack a 3 month outfit just Incase your child is born to big for newborn clothes. I had a 9lb baby so we skipped newborn clothes and where finished with newborn diapers quickly So many cute newborn clothes she never used. That I still will never use Because now I’m having a boy! Sad. Lol or a premie outfit for when your 42 weeker comes out a shocking 5 pounds 😭😂

It did cross my mind to pack something soon. Last time I packed too much. My nurses pushed constant skin to skin. So it didn’t make sense to really wear a shirt the first two days So I will bring bathrobe for the beginning. Snacks. I didn’t pack snacks last time. Biggest regret. I was in labor 20 hours. I was so hungry the second I had a chance to think and breath Everyone was was always saying you gotta have chapstick ! I still don’t know why I didn’t need it at all. It's funny you said that about the chapstick because that was literally the first thing I packed in my bag. The dry cold hospital air just tore my skin up last time and I was always looking for my chapstick, and I was so thirsty all the time. It was terrible! I'll probably even try to bring lotion this time because even my hands were dry by the time we finally left the hospital.

I ordered a package of huge granny panties to pack in my bag from target online and they came in yesterday while I was not at home. I guess somehow our dog got hold of the package and tore it up. So I got home home to see my six pairs of very large underwear lying in various places around our front yard. So embarrassing!

How soon do you start keeping a bag ready? I hadn’t even thought about doing it this early (26 weeks).
Also, thanks for sharing all the tips! Lots of things to ask about when we take our hospital tour!

I have a list ready and everything I won't miss packed already. I keep it in the car, in case they keep us at one of our appointments for some reason, it's got enough to keep DH and I set for a couple of days if we had to stay, but not deliver. I'll finish packing it at like 35 weeks or so.
Right now it's got: Toiletries bag, hair ties, clip, bobby pins, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, chapstick, etc. Granny panties Cheap leggings Nursing bras Nursing tops/Comfy kimono for a cover up Socks Couple of shirts DH's basics, shorts, shirts, socks
I have to pack later: Cash for DH's meals, if I have a CS again it's 4 days in the hospital 10 ft phone cord Tablet/speaker for music Pregnancy journal, to write everything down during labor Grippy socks Jeans for DH and I for going home NB/3 M outfits Diaper bag (to take home freebies) Towels for in the car if my water breaks on the way to the hospital
I'm only 28 weeks, and I'm already panicking, packing and planning.

Ugh, I still don’t even know where I’ll be when I give birth. I haven’t even thought about a hospital bag. Although, I was induced at 41 weeks with my first, so I’m not getting my hopes up about going into labor sooner so I should have like 17 weeks still 😂
Mostly I think I will be packing: depends (seriously this was great for the heavy bleeding and I didn’t have to worry as much about staining) Black Leggings Tanks & cardigans Nipple ointment and all the nipple soothing things I can find Toiletries Baby outfits and blanket

My first delivery was such a cluster Fuck I used literally nothing out of my bag. So this time I'm keeping it to bare minimums.

Lurking from March because I just had my baby early and was unprepared...
1. Makeup wipes. When I went into labor at 34+6, they wouldn't let me out of bed. I was stuck with day old makeup on and then eventually had to wipe it off with warm water and a washcloth.
2. More clothes than I expected to need. Eating in bed and bleeding on everything made me wish I had twice as many outfits to wear.

Hope you are doing well.

Today some one I worked with had their May19 baby. That got me going. I’m totally packed for the hospital. And I packed my daughters bag too. Except day time clothes. I don’t know what temp to pack for. I am going to wash the summer 2T clothes I have in the basement and probably pack those and Hope the baby is on time. Is the baby doing okay? I’m totally freaking out about being this early. I need to pack my bag... or at least get things some what in order. I did sort out the outfits I’m taking for DD2.

Are you guys packing 1 bag or two? Last time I packed 1 for me and 1 for baby. I'm thinking of doing the same this time around but could also likely get away with one. I'll be there minimum 3 days.

sammysam, I have just one big duffle packed so far but now I'm wondering if I should pack another one for the baby. I'm trying to figure out all what I would need for the baby in the room with me since DD was in the Nicu last time. Just a couple outfits I think? I'll also be I the hospital for around theee days.

Thanks everyone:) I have 2 diaper bags about the size of a big purse. I think I might pack one for baby (I think I really only need a few sleepers and a sleep sack but I'll likely bring diapers and wipes etc anyways) and one for me. Last time I didn't bring any toiletries (I had this magical image of me giving birth and going home a few hours later in my pre preg clothes with baby), just a change of clothes. This time I'm buying some travel sized things that will last for my stay but that I can toss when we leave as well as my own nightgown and robe etc. I won't bring a lot but I need to make sure I have the essentials this time!

Last time I feel like I packed perfectly- I unexpectedly stayed a 3rd night which sucked so I’m preparing for 3 days of needs just in case LoL.
I’m just sitting down today to do a list and I think I’ve got it:
General: Phone Charger Ear buds Robe (I had a short, very light robe and it was perfect last time- you don’t want something dragging on the floor in/out of the bathroom. The short robe I kept on and just pulled up when going to the bathroom) Cloth shorts x2 (I cant sleep in pants) Loose shirts/tank tops x3 Leggings x2 (Will wear a pair home- our drive is an hour 😬) Abdominal binder Large Undies x6 Socks (I hate the hospital socks) Kindle + Charger Notebook + Pen iPad Gift for E from baby Tylenol, Colace
Toiletries: Toothbrush/Toothpaste/Floss (they will bring you some but they suck, trust) Brush Dry shampoo Face lotion Mascara Foundation powder/sponge Hair ties/Clip Witch Hazel wipes Face wipes/cleansing cloths **Not bringing pads because they will have them. I have Thinx period underwear I’ll use for post partum once I get home
Snacks: Granola Bars Oatmeal (those cups where you just add hot water) Pretzels Small soy milks for coffee ...will add moar LoL
Baby Bag (I packed the diaper bag last time): Breast pump Nipple cream A couple onsies Hat/Mittens/Socks Pacifiers (I didn’t bring these last time and I sent H out for them the first night LoL) I think that’s it— they will supply diapers initially and send you home with a couple. They will also provide formula if needed and send you with some extra home

@starzia Ooo forgot the boppy. Adding. I didn’t BF last time but it’s the perfect support for holding the baby with the shape.

Also adding a heating pad. I have one that you plug in but they also have the disposable kind that you activate and then toss. It was super helpful last time for the post partum cramping that would happen when pumping. That was a beast. Also those hospital beds aren’t comfy (IMO) so might be good for the back too LoL.

After having loosely organized piles of things to pack for the last week or so, I finally started packing my bag for real tonight! Trying to make sure I have the essentials without totally overpacking.

I finally got around to packing my bag and put a change of clothes/sleeping shorts in there for DH (and a toothbrush). I found it hard to commit pants, etc. to the hospital bag because what if I need to wear them yet, lol. I still need to wash the swaddle set and some clothes for baby to bring with.

I just pulled the nightgown and robe out of my bag because they are now the only sleeping garments that fit me:/ So my hospital bag is empty...again. I should get started on this in a week or two.
