Lās birthday party went well! He was so entranced with everyone watching him that he barely touched his cake. He took a few bites but didnāt go all in, which was nice because there was less to clean up afterward. He got tons of toys š and we fit everything in the car to take back home except for a slide and a giant activity board thing my dad made. I have to AW the gifts my parents made for him. They both remembered me mentioning in passing about wanting to find a cute quiet book and activity board (like with all the knobs, latches, switches, buttons, etc) so they made them for his birthday. It was so thoughtful. I donāt have any pics of the quiet book on my phone, but Iāll take some and post later.

I just walked by the daycare room and L was eating his lunch at the table. Sitting on a mini chair and using a plate and everything. There were tears. I keep feeling like it was not that long ago when I was needing a boppy and two pillows to feed him. Now heās just eating at the table like itās no big deal. ššš ETA: tears from me. He was happy as can be.

And my oldest is going to be 5 and all of a sudden heās so old. Like a real little kid.

Warning rant ahead:
I'm annoyed this morning because one of my BFFs says they have plans the night of his party and she doesn't know if they can change them. Making plans with our family has gotten pretty difficult since DH started working shifts and it's always like "well this person can do Wednesday morning at 5 or so&so can do Sunday afternoon but I can only do Saturday after 9pm. Not literally, but often someone had to change an appt or something to make it work. There is literally only one day that works for DH and I out of three weeks so we just sent invites. It's inevitable but I'm feeling petty about it not automatically suiting everyone else.

We just got back from a weekend at Great Wolf Lodge. The kids had a blast and Owen sleeping in the pack n play in the hotel room went way better than I expected! He did pretty good rolling with the punches and staying up past bedtime. They both slept until 7am toošš».

clementine, That is an amazing gift! Your parents did a great job! leatherpants, I know about the 5 year olds seeming so big now. Yesterday mine came home from school and was talking like a old time mob boss. "Mommy, I put the word out to my friends not to be friends with (her rival) because she's a lying liar that lies." We followed that up with a conversation on why that's not a nice thing to do. Does anyone else have their baby refusing to eat anything that is remotely solid? The only thing that J will eat is completely pureed food. Even giving him something that is really soft like a banana he will just make a face and spit it out.

that is an awesome gift clementine! iāve been busy with snow days and finally getting dd1 potty trained. she decided last weekend she was done with diapers, and iām not saying we wonāt have hiccups, but she has been doing great - literally one accident so far on the first day. add me to the overly emotional about the year mark. i canāt really separate logic from my emotions at this point. i had a talk with h about a third and we are on the same page with wanting another. part of me wants to get on it because iām no spring chicken and the other part of me is enjoying where we are with the 2 now. i am anxious to get into a bit bigger house before then as well and it wonāt happen for another year and a half. we did go to an open house this weekend though so who knows.

auri my girl is the opposite. She wonāt be spoon fed at all. If she canāt pick it up and gum it she is not interested. Sheās spitting purĆ©es back in our faces. But she only has two teeth so we are stuck in a soft finger food rut. Sheās a terrible chewer. She gives two good gums then tries to swallow whatever it is.

I hate having to cook for her too. I hate this limbo where some days she nursing a ton and eats nothing and then does the opposite the next day. MAKE UP YOUR MIND KID. auri look at the āfeeding Littlesā insta and Facebook pages. They have great resources. Try the solids first and then offer a purĆ©e. Have you just let your LO play with the foods? Donāt worry too much about actually eating.

Donāt worry too much about actually eating. +1 to this. Keep exposing him to solids of various textures even if he wonāt eat them yet. I know itās a pain to make food and then have it go to waste, but even just having an opportunity to touch and play with the foods is important. Tolerating different kinds of foods on his tray is the first step in eating, so if heās okay with that, then you can gently encourage him to touch the foods with his hands, touch them to his lips, and progressing to putting them in his mouth and eventually eating them. You could also try dipping solid food in a little bit of purĆ©e that he likes. Like maybe a banana dipped in yogurt. Then heās getting a familiar and preferred flavor with a new texture and it might help him accept some new textures. Edited to fix pronouns. I got confused with girl baby mermaid and boy baby auri!

Yes yes and yes, Lās birthday is in a week and I canāt believe it. Major nostalgia. I just canāt comprehend that itās been a year.
That said, Iām majorly looking forward to him interacting more and learning all of the fun things they learn from 1-2. Thatās a fun age.
We have Lās first birthday shoot tomorrow and heās been a mess. He had RSV two weeks ago and last week seemed better. Now heās had a fever two of the last three nights. No idea why, because he doesnāt have them during the day. Going to cross my fingers that he sleeps tonight because he was up last night from 11:30-1:30, and got up the morning before at 5 am.

My 15 month old nephew still has 0 teeth š± I asked about it at his 9m appointment and the pedi said that they donāt worry until 15months and even then they just send you to a pediatric dentist for X-rays to make sure there are actually teeth under there. Itās so bizarreš³

Thanks for the tips Leaf š± and clementine! I'll have to check out the feeding littles pages. I do try to give him small pieces of foods that I already have made, so I'm not worried about waste. He seems more willing to explore it if he sees me eating it. We'll keep trying...I'm pretty sure he won't be in high school and only eating a liquid diet! It's just hard since I never had this problem with DD. I will say though, I do have a really cute video of him "eating" a dill pickle spear. He hated the taste, but must have liked the texture because he kept taking bites and promptly spitting them out.
