Good morning all! Happy Friday! I thought we could use a new randoms. Also, since so many babies are 1 now or are just about to turn 1, I thought we could do a special HBDB....we could share our favorite picture of your LO as a newborn, and then a favorite picture of them more recently to see how much they've changed. I only have about 10,000 pictures of him so I'm sure this will be easy

thunderenterprise I have been on the Disney Wonder twice and it was so much fun. I am working on a trip on every ship. Right now I only have the Fantasy left until the new ships are done.

I've been on the Magic (pre-reimagining) and the Wonder. I'm trying to hit them all too, and I want to go back on the Magic. The Dream is going to be hard unless we B2B, with the flight to Florida, it's hard to justify the short time on the ship. We are a v v Disney fam. H and I got married at WDW. One of DD's first words was Minnie. It's a whole thing. lol

We took our honeymoon in Disney and that’s when we became dvc members.

Another Disney family here too! We last went when I was pregnant and I am sooooo excited to take DS there for the first time. I think sadly we are going to wait until he is 3 or 4 though- DH wants him to be a little older first. I on the other hand am ready right now!

We are going because G will be 4 and finally able to appreciate it. The baby won’t cost us anything extra besides maybe the dining plan so it’s worth it for us now. Since we are dvc members we also don’t pay for our hotel so we thought, why not. 🤷🏻♀️

Random question- do you use monitors at night? We have been using a video monitor still, but I am a really light sleeper. He sleeps through the night most of the time but usually wakes up for just a few seconds multiple times throughout the night, and it always wakes me up and then is soooo hard for me to go back to sleep. I think if I didn't have the monitor on I would hear him if he cried loudly for a bit since our room is right next door, but I feel guilty putting the monitor on silent. But I am exhausted! I feel silly getting so little sleep when he is STTN.

Disney is so tempting but it's soooo expensive and I'm such a cheapskate lol. Every time I'm tempted, I talk myself out of it because we could go to Europe or the Caribbean or Hawaii for the same price 😂 I know my kids would love it though. I am hoping to go in about 2 years when my kids are 6, 5, 3, and 1. I feel bad that the 1 year old won't remember it though.

We are super excited. My sil, bil and their two kids are coming with us. They are staying at another resort so we don’t have to spend every minute with them but we can still meet up and have fun. I could literally talk about it all day, every day because I am so excited. Lol

I will enjoy Europe when my littles are bigger. The best part of Disney cruises is that you get characters and great service but you get to go to the Caribbean too. I totally understand the expense part. We are a family of 4 and not paying for our resort and it’s still really expensive. That’s why we don’t go often. My bff goes every year because it’s only her, her H and their daughter and they also don’t pay for the resort. I could never do it.

I hate cruises but would go on an Alaskan cruise so I am hoping to do that on Disney. And maybe cruising with kids will make me get over my cruise hate 😜

Like $9 and hour for the first kid and $8 for additional kids. Then they have the kids clubs that are free! The kids love them so much they never want to leave. That is for all kids 3+ that are potty trained. They will even feed your kids at meal times! They have bracelets that link to an app so you can track whether your kid is in the kids club or the lab. They also have free phones in your rooms that work anywhere on the ship so your kids can contact you.

pinkcat Sounds like you should ditch the monitor. Get some real sleep! If his room is right next door you’ll definitely hear him if he needs you. I still use a monitor for E (just audio), but that’s because her room is down the hall right next to DD1’s room, and I’d rather get to her before she wakes up her sister.

I feel silly getting so little sleep when he is STTN. We use audio monitors for DD2 in the crib and DD3. We turn them on the quietest setting and plug them in on the opposite side of our bedroom far away from our bed though. Both of them have white noise machines so their grunts and groans do not wake us. The monitors in their rooms are also on the far side of the room away from the crib/PNP.

Lol I am a light sleeper too and I struggle with hearing him all night. He is such a loud sleeper. With G I started turning the monitor sound on very low so that I would only really hear her when she was crying. I did that at right about the year mark. At 18m I switched to a video monitor but still kept it on low because her room was far from mine. She is 3.5 now. I only use a monitor when I am downstairs and she is in her room whether it’s for sleeping or playing. At night, I hear her if she is crying which is very very rare. We share a wall so it’s easy to hear.

I can't sleep without their room white noise now though 😂
