It’s been a long day and no baby yet. They put the Foley bulb in this afternoon and I was in crazy amounts of pain from it. I got a walking epidural which has taken the edge off and they’re doing some pitocin. I’ve been walking the halls and sitting on my birth ball at the moment. Could be awhile still. This is definitely a marathon!

It definitely is a marathon so try to eat and drink a little bit if you can to keep your energy up. Hope things pick up for you soon!

This afternoon has been busy. Got home and H was trying to take a nap (a massive irritation for more than just that but I digress) so I made both boys stay in their room with me while I hauled everything out of their closet. My mom showed up when she got off work and helped me start getting the room arranged to house 3 kiddos and sorting things into "too small", "needs washed", and "put back in dresser" piles before my dad showed up and he put the crib back on the top level. My nephew was hauled over, too, and got rid of a ton of boxes we have been putting off recycling. When my dad's back hurt too much, he took the boys and read stories to them while my mom and I continued to reorganize and get the entry way in better shape and my nephew packed things away into the guestroom closet and shed.
The kids bedroom still isn't 100% finished but now it's just picking up some miscellaneous items off the floor and taping up boxes of clothes.
I almost lost it at H when he finally decided he could join the rest of us at 7pm but my dad put him to work grilling chicken I had marinating and fixing rice to go with it.

We’re home! He’s still really sleepy, though. We have a follow up with the pedi tomorrow and they’ll check his levels again. FX they’ve continued to drop.
In other news, I have PP edema like whoa. My ankles seem to have disappeared. MH took my BP and it’s fine, so I guess I’ll just add this to the “new this time” list.

strawberrykiki the foley is intense, but does the job! I had one with DS1. I agree with dashook, try to hydrate and eat what you can. Even if all they let you have are sugar free popsicles, they'll boost your energy and tolerance. <3 Glad you could get a walking epi to help! I don't know if you have the tub option, but something to consider that helped me a lot both times - just having the water take on some of the weight and the warm water helped with pain. Whatever helps you, do it! You got this!

strawberrykiki thinking of you. I haven’t had experience with the foley bulb but I can imagine it’s not pleasant. Glad you were able to get a walking epidural and that you’re still able to be up and moving around. Being confined to the bed while laboring isn’t fun at all. FX everything is going smooth! CharlieB glad to see y’all are home! Hope his levels have come down at the checkup today.

Last night and this morning I've been feeling very off. My heart rate is high even though I'm sitting down and I can't seem to catch my breath. Getting dressed etc was very difficult. I wonder if this warrants a call to the OB? On one hand, I know these type of symptoms are normal, but on the other, the intensity is new for me.

Well ended up with a cervical check at my 36.5 week appt before I knew what was happening... She started with a ghb swab (I was thinking it was unnecessary because c section but didn't come prepared about it so didn't get up the nerve to say something until it was done) then all of a sudden she was checking my cervix... Luckily it was less uncomfortable than the normal annual check you get where they're trying to grope your ovaries between your vag and stomach lol...I guess it was also less sensitive because it's not changing much yet. She said baby's head is "really low", cervix is "slightly" thinned, and I'm at one centimeter. So nothing much exciting.
We DTD last night but in the back of my mind I wondered if it's ok with a dilating cervix... Is that a thing? Or is it just a problem after delivery because of the placenta leaving a wound with risk for infection?

And some thoughts about permanent birth control... Anyone else considering that after this baby??
I asked about having my tubes removed and learned that Catholic health doesn't permit it (I'm delivering at a Catholic hospital). She laughed that I was shocked that in her words "the pope is controlling what women do with their bodies!" Well I'm not Catholic and never imagined that health care could be limited that way! Regardless, she would only do a ligation (cut out a small piece) with c section she said because they'll be more vascular with pregnancy, so I'll insteadget them fully removed laparoscopically at a later time if I choose. (Removing has virtually 0% failure rate as a bc method, plus reducing ovarian cancer risk and may reduce chance of my endometriosis returning). Then DH wouldn't need a V. I'm not comfortable with a V alone anyway because of the failure rate. Really do not want to worry every cycle if we got accidentally pregnant and the baby will die because we didn't know and start blood thinners!!
I'm glad it's not an option to take care of with the c section because I'm not quite 100% ready to choose it, but I know DH is and I'm about 99%.

sunshiney, we are 99% done after this pregnancy. I'm getting an IUD after this baby -- that's good for 5 years. After H is likely getting a V.

@amc it’s been 115-120 just sitting there doing nothing. Normally it’s been around 100-105.

We are also 99% sure we done, funny how many of us are 99%! No permanent BC here yet. DH will get a V eventually-probably when B is 1-2. Until then we will use nursing ,condoms and my personal favorite-abstinence as BC.

k, right!? H told me to get rid of my maternity clothes that don't fit anymore, but I'm not ready. I would hate to end up in that 1% and need to buy all of them again!

I think no matter what we choose, I'm always going to feel the pull to have "just one more baby." It's so bittersweet thinking about closing the pregnancy/tiny babies chapter of our lives forever. 😭 Agreed. I know I will always feel that way. That’s why I cried when her stump fell off last night 💔. Every milestone will be a last.

I’m still waiting! They broke my water around 3am and I switched to the full epidural. I’ve been having some spells of feeling super sick and shaky. Thank goodness for the drugs she gave me. I’m almost an 8.
The baby doesn’t like it when I get too many contractions back to back. He’s had a few scary episodes where his heart rate dropped too low and I had nurses everywhere flipping me around trying to make it to back down. It was so scary. 😪

MH is getting a vasectomy for sure. After me spending the last 20 years coordinating my BC and fertility needs, it’s his turn. 🙃 And it’s the best fit for us as far as options go. strawberrykiki You’re doing an amazing job!! I hope you’re enjoying the snuggles ASAP.

We are for sure done having kids. 3 is enough for us, plus I was soo, so sick with ds2, I don't want to go through that again. Of course, people are already asking if we will "try for a girl". Hopefully dh will schedule a v soon. I am hanging onto my maternity clothes, but only to pass on to my SIL.

MH is for sure getting a vasectomy. The plan is to schedule it when LO is 6 weeks old. We’ve both always wanted two kids and while it is sad knowing this baby will be our last, it also feels perfect for us and we’re so excited to complete our family in the next 10 days or so. Still feels surreal some days!

strawberrykiki, Thank you for the update! Hopefully, things have picked up and smoothed out since you updated. We're 90% sure about this being the last one. Well, I'm 85% sure and H is 99% sure. No permanent fixes for us until we're on the same page but H has been pushing for getting a V. He did compromise finally that I'd just get an IUD and we'll make a decision about him getting a V in a colle years.

I thought I'd for sure feel done after 3 but currently I'm open to a 4th. It probably won't happen as I'm almost 37 and would want to wait a couple of years mostly likely. Also I'm pretty sure my OBs would advice against it since I have 3 complicated pregnancies with the 3 early babies and 3 csections. Nothing permanent will be done. I don't mind BCP and will probably just go that route when I finish BFing.
