Yes. I was in so much pain at the hospital and the nurses kept telling me it was totally normal. Said that each pregnancy just worsens all the muscles so it hurts more when they contract back. The nurses brought me heated blankets to lay on my belly, which felt really good. It was so much worse with DS2, I'm dreading it this time around. You guys aren't helping 😭 FFFC: it wasn’t bad at all for me with #2 or #3 😬

Supposedly they get worse with each child. Yes. I was in so much pain at the hospital and the nurses kept telling me it was totally normal. Said that each pregnancy just worsens all the muscles so it hurts more when they contract back. The nurses brought me heated blankets to lay on my belly, which felt really good. I agree that the heating pads helped a lot. Except they made me sweat 😅

@amc do you by chance recall everything they gave you to prevent the hemorrhage issue from happening again? That's my worst fear this time. I want to do everything possible to avoid that again. My doc said they'd give me stuff to prevent it but I want to make sure I get it all!

Thanks @amc! That's what I recall having afterward last time, it must have just been too late. It was that same time frame for me too so hopefully if we are more proactive right away I will have the same results as you. I really appreciate the info, thanks!

LO slept nearly 5 hours from like 5-10 last night, which was great because it allowed me to do dinner and bedtime with the big kids uninterrupted while H was napping.
But then I didn’t go to bed because I kept waiting for him to wake up. Finally he did so I fed him and went to bed but he basically hasn’t slept since then. So I have gotten a ~50 minute stretch and a 1 hr 15 minutes (maybe?) stretch, while he screamed and MH walked him around downstairs. Very uncool.
After he finishes nursing now I am hoping he falls asleep so I can take him to bed with me. And maybe he’ll do another 5 hour stretch with me like last night.
All this does not bode well though for next week when H goes back to work. I have to deal other kids and am not going to be able to just lay in with the baby if he decides he only wants to sleep well from 3 or 4 am onward. H will not be around to help with the kids at any time of the day 😞

I haven't really slept tonight. Maybe an hour. I'm trying to balance pumping and feeding and sleeping. Also worrying about her. SO has to work in the morning so I'm trying to let him sleep. I know it's just the first night so I'm trying not to worry too much. I know I can get a nap in tomorrow if needed.

Anyone else up? I just finished giving A her bottle and getting ready to pump. I'm tired tonight. Really hoping for a good stretch after this.

We’re up. Have been for a bit actually but PB was taking forever to load. Fortunately Two Dots just added more levels 😆
Hope everyone gets a good stretch after this! The fatigue is starting to really catch up with me. MH too I think.
He has been taking the first shift at night, which is when V has his fussy time of day (like 10 pm-2 am or so). I know he goes out and drives around for some of it. He definitely doesn’t get to rest. But earlier tonight I guess he did fall asleep in the rocking chair with the baby, which I’m not really okay with; I don’t mind cosleeping MH is a heavy, restless sleeper and the rocking chair is not a safe place. So we’re going to have to address that tomorrow.

dashook I’m really worried about MH going back to work too. Right now I feel like I’ll never leave the house with all 3 and can’t imagine having to get up to take DS1 to preschool. but I’m most afraid of just being able to feed B. As I suspected, the boys are so intense with her and are constantly fighting over who gets to hold her. I’ve mostly just been keeping her upstairs in our bedroom, coming down intermittently to let them see her, but that won’t work when MH isn’t here. 😬

MH walked into the bedroom, where I was sleeping, about an hour ago and said, “he’s been much better tonight.” Idiot—don’t jinx it!!
LO has eaten now and seems peaceful so I’m going to attempt to get in bed with him. Wish me luck!

I was up a couple of times but too tired to post. Its 630 now and all 3 children are awake. I was so hoping to go back to bed at this feeding/pumping but it doesn't look like that is happening.

I go here tonight. DS2 got up an hour and 45 min ago to come in and say "I love you" then went back to bed. 🤷 Then 20 min later was cold and needed to be tucked in. I have been wide awake since. Going to be a fun day...

@amc I chuckled a little at 11p being late because that is always the time we go to bed. It's been later some nights since baby came home and I was proud of us for getting in bed at 11 last night!
I got a decent chunk of sleep from 3-7 but woke up with my boobs killing me. A has another weight check this morning.

tngrl3 We've been trying to do her last feeding of the evening around 9pm, then off to bed ASAP after that. Our boys typically go to bed around 7-7:30pm and get up for the day between 5:30 and 6:30am, so we've got to get sleep where we can! I need to figure out a bedtime and bedtime routine for V. I feel like I already had one for DD by now, but things have just been such a shitshow with MH home that we are still kind of winging it. V will be a month old this week though, and I’m about to become a solo parent to 3 kids 4 and under, so it’s time! ETA another difficulty is how unpredictable his sleep still is. It’s 9:00 and he fell asleep on me nursing like an hour and 15 ago. I could have done a bedtime thing then but honestly I thought he was wide awake so would nurse and then be up and fuss a while). He probably will sleep another hour and a half at least if I keep holding him so like...do I hang out and wait for him to wake back up to feed him again (which puts me doing his bedtime routine at like 10:30/11 pm)? Go to bed now knowing he’ll be up again kinda soon (and he’ll probably have to come with me because he does not like to be put down anywhere at night)? I feel like a newb.

So after typing out that whole thing I finally just went for it.
V woke up a few minutes after I posted so DH changed him and afterwards I took him in the nursery, put on the new noise machine that I bought for him (as opposed to just using the one on my phone), put him in the Merlin suit, rocked and sang to him, then put him down in the crib. The actual crib! He hasn’t been in it before.
He lasted 4 minutes before he started to cry, so I went back in. Turns out he had spit up, so I rocked him some more and put him back down. He’s been in there 14 minutes now and going strong! I’m getting in bed in a show of optimism. Lol tonight should be interesting.

So he slept exactly 60 minutes in his crib. Brought him in bed with me and we dozed fitfully for another 30 before he started complaining. So I “fed” him (quotes because he didn’t seem to be nursing very deeply) and now he’s asleep again.
Part of me wants to try the crib again but a much bigger part of me just wants to effing sleep. So back we go to the big bed.

dashook just keep trying. Then do what you have to do to survive. It took until last night for S to sleep on her rock n play next to the bed. First night at home was like 4 min, then the next a few rounds of more time and last night it just clicked. Until then... get the sleep however it will come

Anyone else’s baby latch fine throughout the day and then forgets what to do motn? It takes like 10 painful latch attempts before she’s productive. And during that time my nips take a beating

He basically chews on my nipple for 5 minutes before he actually decides to give a damn and open his mouth to latch normally. And once he does it’s business as usual but my nips are sore from all the “attempts.”

I swear she bites to latch on at night. I also remember this with the boys and it should get better soon. she’s a piranha at night.

B slept for a few short stretches in the pnp bassinet! One small step toward him sleeping in his bassinet in our bedroom and me getting to sleep in my bed again.

This is exactly what is happening with us. I have more milk at night so he tends to bounce on and off. I am hoping if we just keep really focusing on a good latch even MOTN it will get better? It is so hard to care about the latch in the MOTN!
