I’ve got one of the littlest ones. He’s going to be 11 months next week. We’ve had no water for part of the week so it had been stressful.
Here’s my smiling boy. Poof

Am I only the one with a one year old that isn’t walking independently yet? Nope. DD2 barely stands so I would definitely say we are the furthest behind development wise - given we both have the same age babies. Arden is not standing unassisted at all yet. She cruises and will walk with my hands but does not stand alone at all.

We had our follow up today for Ds2. The congestion is gone in his chest but he’s still got congestion in his sinuses so we have to start Benadryl and start making his room more humid and try to eliminate as much dust as we can to see if that helps. He did gain a pound in a week which was huge for us. I was so worried when he lost weight because he’s so tiny to begin with. He’s 17 lbs 5 oz which still puts him less than the 3% though.
Oh and he loves to cruise holding onto things but freaks out about standing unassisted because he gets nervous.

marygracerich E doesn’t walk either, and isn’t even cruising. She pulls herself up to stand holding onto something, and happily stays there awhile, but doesn’t take any steps. If I try to get her to walk while I hold her arms she just cries and tries to fall into me. 🤷🏼♀️

Oh, and we had her 1 year check up the other day! 18lbs 11oz, which is about 33% for weight, and I forget her height (28 inches?) but it was 12%. So we’ve got a little shorty!

I haven’t been around much, but it’s my little guy’s first birthday today! We’re having a party tomorrow. Just our siblings, their families and our parents. Which is actually 29 people.... It’s going to be packed in our 1100 sqft house.
I’m heading out to a huge bridal show shortly. It’s an hour away and we’re expecting 15-20cm of snow. Not looking forward to the drive.

Happy birthday baby cake! I have to ask...what kind of cake are you making him? We’re having this baby’s party tomorrow too - 30 people. Have to get to the party store today for supplies. (And I’m making a banana cake with lemon cream cheese icing.)

(And I’m making a banana cake with lemon cream cheese icing.) Plain old chocolate. I have a lot of people ask how crazy and over the top his cake will be. But it is the most basic of basic lol. He can have a fancy cake when he’s a bit older and will be excited by it. I did make decorates cookies to give to the little kids as favours though. I love banana cake and I love cream cheese icing, so I’m jealous of the cake your little one is getting!

Mine will take a few steps but is still mainly crawling. No real words either. He does love to eat though.

My little isn’t walking yet either, but standing and cruising for a while now. It’s a risk taker so it’s just a Matter of time before he takes off.
Anyone’s LO discover the water in the toilet? 🤢 I swear sometimes he’s a dog. Lol

pippiann YES. She sometimes even sneaks in and tries to splash WHILE I AM SITTING ON IT. Looks like baby girl will have her first ear infection for her first birthday. We were up all night with her, poor thing. She also has a nasty rash all over. Does anyone have experience with kiddos with strabismus (lazy eye)? DD3 has a very obvious one. My brother had it growing up but it presented much later, I'm kind of shocked that hers was that noticeable before her 1st birthday already. I am expecting it will mean surgery down the road but will definitely ask about it at her 1 year appointment.

I am sure things have changed since I was a baby/small kid but my biggest rec is to get her in to a specialist for kids. My parents first saw a local eye doc for me and he somehow managed to make things worse. After that, we started driving to Wash DC once a year (about 1.5 hours each way) and it was worth every minute/penny of what they paid for my surgeries and getting it fixed as much as they could. I still do have a lazy eye. PM me with specific questions if you have any. I had multiple surgeries, eye patches, the whole works. Any chance you are in the Mid Atlantic? Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute is top notch.

Happy birthday baby cake! Iz didn't do very much independent standing until she starting walking. Today is her birthday party. The house is decorated, H is in the kitchen cooking and I'm camped out making sure she takes a really good nap before people get here.

Thank you easternshoregirl, that helps!! I will try to make sure I find an ophthalmologist who specializes in peds. We are in the Midwest, so I have a feeling it may mean going a few hours to a more major city, but sounds like it is definitely worth it. I'll start Googling tonight so I'm ready for my ped to write the referral!

I post pics so infrequently I never remember how to do it so let me see if I can... PDQ but this is one of our pics from a snowy photo shoot we did last weekend. I love so many of the shots she took, I want to get prints of all of them! This is me and V (obviously).

Late to the game .... (I forgot who asked about kids standing independently)
J has a gross motor delay .... he is in PT. He is only army crawling and not even close to standing independently. He doesn’t pull to stand, either

easternshoregirl Beautiful photo! So we did it! E’s 1st birthday party was a success. Now we have way too many leftover bagels and eclairs. Not complaining about that though. 😋 And E did great, was in a good mood all morning. She’s such a people-person, loves attention. Did not actually eat her cake though, just squished it through her fingers for awhile.

We just got back from another 1st birthday party, for some friends' twins! It got me super excited for V's bday party too.
I'm testing a chili recipe for the party right now. Plan for food for her party is a chili bar. I'm thinking a venison/bison red chili, a white chicken chili and a lentil/black bean/sweet potato vegan chili. And corn muffins and tons of toppings b/c that's how we roll. And cupcakes for dessert of course!
