It just occurred to me we don't have this thread, yet! Leave your announcement here but please don't be afraid to also post your birth story in a separate thread. This one is best for keeping track of our babies as they join us

I got on tapatalk to I'll post a picture here! Induction at 40w 3d on 1/2/19. On the way to the hospital I started contracting on my own. At 7:30 am when I got to the hospital I was between 3-4 cm. They broke my water, started pitocin, antibiotics for GBS, then put in the epidural at some point. At 12:15 DH went to grab lunch and my doctor checked me again - 6cm. A little before 1 I was feeling soo much pressure so the nurse called the doctor in and I was at 10. Pushed through 2 contractions and he was out at 1:09! I was concerned he was going to be big since I went overdue but he's 7lbs 7oz. We are doing well! My epidural took forever to wear off in one leg so I needed assistance throughout the day and night to go to the bathroom. I forgot how often someone is in and out of the hospital room. Plus the hospital no longer takes them to the nursery for the night, so we are pretty tired.

Is this where birth stories go? I want to type mine out before I forget it and figured I would share.
Monday 1/21-Saw my high risk OB, opened up about my anxiety and stress. Baby's abdomen growth was lagging further behind. He put me off work. Scheduled c-section moved up to 37w1d. Got first steroid shot for lung development. Tuesday 1/22- Second steroid shot, 24 hour urine collected. Wednesday 1/23-Urine protein came back elevated indicating pre-eclampsia. My OB called that afternoon and said he had talked with high risk and they both felt we needed to go ahead and deliver to keep baby safe. My c-section was set for the next day and told to be at the hospital at 6 am. We sent the kids to my parent's house and enjoyed of few hours of just hanging out SO and I. I slept maybe a couple of hours. Thursday 1/24: We head to the hospital first thing in the morning. SO is not feeling 100% and thinks maybe he just ate something bad. They have trouble getting an IV started and it takes several sticks and nurses to finally get one. It was a busy morning in L&D so my csection got pushed back a few times. I was on the monitor so it was reassuring to know baby was being watched. SO's stomach issues continue and he has to make multiple trips to the bathroom. He is clearly not feeling well, but tries to suck it up. My parents ended up showing up at the hospital at some point, which was odd and kind of annoyed me because I hadn't asked them to come. It ended up being okay though, but just weird for them because they usually respect boundaries well. Finally get ready to head to the OR around 1145. SO is fading fast. The CRNA has trouble getting the spinal in. I'm already emotionally spent, hormonal, hungry, and worried about baby girl and SO. I start crying which I hate doing in public. Spinal finally gets in and starts to work immediately. SO comes in the OR and I know right away he isn't doing good. He is pale and shaky (all from his GI issues. He is a paramedic/RN/FNP and blood is no big deal to him). I have a good amount of scar tissue so it takes some time to get down to baby. SO somehow manages to hang in there long enough to see them pull her out and take like one picture, before the OR staff notices he is pale and about to pass out. He ends up laying on the floor of the OR so he doesn't pass out. Baby girl gives a few weak cries after some stimulation but I can tell she has a lot of fluid in her lungs. I get to see her for about 2 seconds while they take her to work on her. Abby Lee is officially born 1/24 at 1219 weighing 4lbs15 oz and 18 inches long (she remained nameless until the next morning). She required oxygen and lots of suction. I can hear them talking about her and her numbers but no one is telling me anything. By this point SO has been taken out of the OR in a wheelchair back to my room. They continue to work on baby girl and she is stable but requiring a lot of oxygen. I'm a complete wreck at this point and all alone in OR. They get me closed up and we head back to my room. SO has recovered somewhat. My parents are around somewhere and get SO some Gatorade and go check on baby girl in the nursery. I actually feel pretty decent and just want something to eat. After a little while the neonatologist comes in because the pediatrician called him due to baby's ongoing need for high flow oxygen and a not so great looking chest x-ray. They tell us they need to transfer her to the NICU at the hospital that is a few miles down the road. However, the transport team is out taking a baby to a hospital 4 hours away so it will be a while. She is stable but serious. I start pumping to keep myself occupied and later that evening when she is more stable, they are able to tube feed her some of it. At some point SO gets to go check on her in the nursery and takes a few pictures. I finally get something to eat, I start getting movement back in my legs, SO continues to feel like crap. The rest of the afternoon is a little fuzzy. My parents left to get my kids from school and daycare at some point. The pediatrician and neonatologist both check back in and agree she still needs transfer as she is still on oxygen with bad blood work. That evening I sent SO home to rest. I have an awesome nurse that night who helps me get up to a chair, take my catheter out, cleans me up, and helps me to the bathroom. She seriously rocked. She stayed on top of my pain, let me rest when needed, and was helpful when needed. Baby girl finally gets transported around 10pm and they bring her by my room so I can see her for basically the first time all day before she goes. I get some sleep between waking up to pump. Friday 1/25: My favorite OB is on and comes to see me first thing in the morning. He gets my meds straightened out and says that since I got up yesterday and already took my catheter out, they can give me a pass that allows me to go to the other hospital to see baby girl but remain a patient. I just can't be gone longer than 6 hours. SO is still at home miserable so my mom comes and takes me to the other hospital. Baby girl was able to come off oxygen that morning and her chest x-ray is better. I finally get to hold her and do some skin to skin. She is tiny but perfect. I go back to the other hospital to pump and rest. Later that afternoon my parents bring the kids by to see me. They are both really sweet but can't quite understand why they can't see their baby sister. Saturday 1/26: I get discharged less than 48 hours after my c-section so I can be able to see baby more. SO is somewhat functioning today and comes to pick me up and sign the birth certificate. I showered and headed to the other hospital. It was such a crazy couple of days. DD2 is still in the NICU. She is doing well but can't keep her body temp up and needs to gain some weight back before she will get to go home.

tngrl3 sounds like the last few days has been quite the rollercoaster for you. Glad you’ve been discharged so you’re able to relax in the comfort of your own home. T&Ps for baby girl. Hope she’s able to gain some weight and regulate her temps soon so she can join you and the rest of your family at home soon. Hugs.

Oh my goodness, tngrl3 - with your DH down and out, too, though nothing in comparison to what you were going through! I'm so glad you had the chance to see her before they moved her to the other hospital and your OB was awesome about letting you go visit but still remain inpatient. You're amazing, Abby is amazing (such a darling name!) and I hope she continues to improve rapidly so she can go home with you! I hope you're utilizing all the help you can as you recover, glad your parents can be there. Huge hugs!

With DS1, I was so fortunate with a very uneventful labor and birth. It was a bit different this time! Things started off the same as last time with the loss of my MP throughout the day. I was scheduled for induction on 2/4 thanks to IUGR and an overly calcified placenta, but I commented to MH that I didn’t think it would make it to Monday. Sure enough, my water broke around 4:30 am on 1/30 (37+3). Contractions were irregular before fizzling out. We headed to hospital around 8:30, started pitocin a few hours later, and that’s when the fun started.
Epidurals...they’re so great when they work. My scoliosis caused no issues when I had DS1, but this time was different. After TWO failed epis, it was clear that the only pain relief I’d be getting was slight one-sided relief in my pelvis. And even though my nurse had turned off the pitocin, my body had caught on and was well on its way to birthing this child. Benj.amin Col.e was born at 2:35 pm after three pushes and more pain than I’d adequately prepared myself for. I’m so thankful that things at least moved quickly. He’s 5lbs 4oz of snuggles, 18 3/4 inches long, and nursing like a champ. Blood sugar is still a little on the low side, but I’m hoping that we can work that out soon.

CharlieB oh my he is perfection! Love his name. He is a good size too for IUGR! Hoping his blood sugars sort themselves out quickly. It took both my IUGR babies about 24 hours to get things regulated.

CharlieB oh my, what an absolute sweetheart, he is perfect! I'm so sorry the epi didn't work, especially when on top of the pitocin! I'm glad it was at least somewhat fast. Hope his temp and BS regulate quickly for you, you did awesome mama! <3 Soak up the snuggles, I'm so glad he is here safely! Big hugs!
