Dd2 went from waking up every three hours two nights ago to sleeping 12+ hours straight last night. My boobs hurt so bad when I woke up and I was so panicked that she didn't wake up at all. My boobs still hurt after feeding her and pumping, I hope I don't have any clogged ducts. The uninterrupted sleep was well worth it though!

Well now I'm stressed out. DS2 took his bottles no problem from my MIL Wednesday, but my mom just texted me saying they haven't been able to get him to drink more than a few sips in 2 hours. Due to some family shit my mom now has my nephew with her too and I was already a bit worried how it was going to go with it not just being her and DS2. This is not helping those worries...

P has been napping in the swing like, her whole life... she starts daycare on Monday where everyone naps in a crib. So we that is what we are going to try today. I honestly donāt remember what I did to get M to nap. I think I put her down and walked away..
The past 2 nights at bedtime she just starts screaming when I try to pat her to sleep. The only way to calm her is a hard fast pat with a ton of shushing. Itās very stressful.

I'm very grateful I don't have to go back to work because dd2 has never taken a bottle and refuses to even have one in her mouth now. Hopefully since he's taken bottles before he will start taking them again soon!

Dd2 was much more chill with it but I remember with dd1 it was super stressful for me. I've heard the people at daycares are amazing at getting kids to sleep in cribs so hopefully they can get her to sleep fairly easily.

Nymeria I hope your DS starts to eat with your mom. Going back to work shouldnāt be so stressful.

brenna I'm sorry you're all sick. I feel your pain cause we're still in that boat too. Nymeria I'm sorry for the bottle stress. I hope it improves quickly so that you don't have that worry on top of the newness of going back to work. akwild I mainly try to lay DD down in her crib after nursing/burping and walking away. It's working more and more frequently with little to no fussiness. She's been sleeping in there at least part of the night too, so she's getting used to it. If she totally freaks immediately I just abandon the task of a crib nap and go with whatever works at the moment.

I'm in a bad state of sleep deprivation here. It's affecting me in so many ways. Apparently DD is 15 weeks old today..... an app informed me of that fact. I feel like I'm missing everything with her lately and I'm not enjoying anything right now. And it's not because of the infant, but because of the toddler and the sudden onset of his sleep issues.
Everything was surprisingly so much easier than I'd anticipated in the beginning. And now I'm in hell.... I didn't see this coming at all.

Huge hugs tbirdlove. I'm sorry sleep is such a struggle still. Have things gotten better with him at all?

Huge hugs tbirdlove. I'm sorry sleep is such a struggle still. Have things gotten better with him at all? Not really. Sometimes something will help for a night, but then it just gets worse again. We're so frustrated and tired that it's really hard to be consistent with what we're doing. We kinda have a plan of action in place, but we're having difficulty following through in the middle of the night because it's just too many wake-ups and we gradually lose our cool throughout the course of the night.

tbirdlove Iām sorry itās the toddler giving you sleep issues. Our only wake ups typically are P, but I still canāt believe she is also 15 weeks. I feel like I followed Mās milestones much closer, P is just kinda along for the ride. Like when M was a baby our lives revolved around her schedule. Now we just drag P along and hope for the best. So hopefully this girl will learn to nap anywhere. M would only nap in the car or her crib.

tbirdlove I'm sorry you are struggling with your ds still. Hopefully something will work soon so you can get some sleep. Talking about our second children just going along for ride with our older LOs, dd2 had a bath today with dd1 and ALL of dd1's play kitchen food. Like the entire top of the water was covered completely in floating food. I think at one point dd2 had some grapes, pie, and pizza all sitting on top of her, she loves baths thankfully and didn't seem to mind at all. I wish I would have gotten a picture, I was cracking up! š

Dragging the baby along for the ride - DD has been to see two movies in the cinema already! š Here 2nd kid, you can just have your midday nap today in this noisy movie theater auditorium with my boob in your mouth.

Ugh. DD is pooping up out the back of Pampers as well! It's not even that much poo, it just seems to come out and go directly up the back. Could it be the fit of the clothes? The girl leggings are quite snug fitting. Although, I feel like she's pooed up the back of looser fitting pants as well.

tbirdlove how did last night go? What have you tried with your ds so far? (I'm sure the list is long!) I'm just trying to think of anything we've tried with DD that you could try with your ds.

Today I went to a process group at the birth center for those who had hospital transfers. I was just me and another couple and a doula who ran the group. It was really nice to think of different ways to think of my birth and helped. I may try to go again.

brenna - we actually had our first good night in nearly three weeks last night. He only woke crying once around 6:40 am. We've tried so many things....! What worked last night is as follows: yesterday evening I took him to the playground to wear him out, I put him to bed later (had him in bed at the time I've noticed he's actually falling asleep the last few days, around 9 pm, trying to minimize the amount of time he's laying in bed before falling asleep so that his mind doesn't have time to wonder to things that frighten him), I told him where I was going to be and what I was going to be doing when I left his room, told him I would come back to check on him a few times and followed through in doing so, and then slept on a mattress on the floor in the playroom directly across the hall from his room with both bedroom doors all the way open. Plus extra night lights and the sound machine volume lowered. I Primed Ferber's Sleep Solutions book this week, particularly for the chapter on night time fears and anxieties. That has helped me a lot to understand what I think has happened. We're pretty certain now that it's all fear related and of course it started the night of the dinosaur exhibit. But since then things have spiraled more and more because of our inconsistency and the times that we have been responding to him negatively (not on purpose - we're just so dang tired and frustrated ). He may very well be having some nightmares. I'm not certain because he doesn't understand when I try to ask him. He seems to now be fearful of the dark, of being alone in his room (at night), of having the door closed (day or night), etc. I tried to recreate everything I did last night again tonight. So hopefully it's not just another thing that only helps for one night. It really was a drastic improvement over all of the previous nights, so we'll see.

tbirdlove I've noticed that telling DD exactly where I'll be and what I'll be doing, and telling her I'll check back in with her helps a lot too. Lately she has been getting upset when we close her door but she wanders and comes out of her room if we leave it open so I'm not sure what to do about that. DD also switches where she sleeps (rarely her bed, sometimes her chair, and mostly the floor by the night light) and I think giving her that choice makes her feel a little better at night. Is your ds back in the crib or in a bed?

brenna he's in a crib. We tried a night with his crib mattress on the floor and he just kept walking out of his room. I'm too tired to deal with that so we put him back in the crib. If he's afraid, we also felt like now doesn't seem like the best time to make such a big change like that. We'd have to gate him in and I don't see that going well.
