Where does the time go??
Once again, I have no idea what to get my H for Christmas.
J is getting a play kitchen and various play foods and such from family members, which I am really excited about. We haven't bought him anything but H is planning on making those curved balance boards and I am planning on making him a play tent. Hopefully we can get our acts together and actually get them done.
We got our tree up and decorated this weekend. I am excited for Christmas.

J has been waking up from his naps SUPER cranky. He's snuggly, which is nice, but also very very cranky, and I have to be very delicate or it turns into a full-blown tantrum (a la Thanksgiving Fiasco of 2018). It started just before Thanksgiving (hence we didn't really know how to deal with it, unfortunately). He was a happy as a clam after naps before then. Yikes.

I'm stuck on DH also. We just do stockings for each other, but I feel like I've maxed out my fancy shaving cream/coffee/booze ideas. But he always likes it, so maybe not..?
DS is getting a ride-on Batmobile from us, which I am excited about. He was on the neighbor's Thomas ride-on last week and thought it was the most amazing thing ever. So they'll be able to cruise the sidewalks together. Not sure what grandparents are getting yet, but I gave them pretty specific ideas. So FX.

Also, is it weird to use his Amazon credit card to pay for his gift? 5% cash back though...

DH and I generally haven't done gifts for each other since DS1 was born. Mostly because from November-April there's our wedding anniversary, Christmas, Valentine's Day, and both of our April birthdays. It's just too much gift giving so we just do our birthdays.
I'm so much fun I can barely contain myself!

gingy , the things on my H's wishlist are very expensive. That sucks. We do a small budget for stockings, so neither of us even asks for anything big.

Also, is it weird to use his Amazon credit card to pay for his gift? 5% cash back though... No judgment here. I just used MH's account for his work's website to order his Christmas present just so I could use his employee discount. Even though I have a card to use his discount in-store, for some reason I can't use it on my account for the website.

I can't post what I'm getting H in case he reads it. Knowing my luck he'd happen across this thread. He asked for a ridge wallet so I got that and something special.
We only started doing stockings for each other last year and this year we finally have enough cash to give each other gifts. I asked for Legos because I'm an adult.

MH is getting a new phone for Christmas since I got a good deal on an unlocked one. It's the only thing under the tree for him because it maxed out my budget, but there will be a case, screen protector, and one of those wallet multi-tool thingies in his stocking.
DS is getting Legos, board games (Trouble under the tree and Santa will be giving him Chutes and Ladders at a family Christmas party this weekend), a Wonder Crew doll, that remote control BB8 I posted about before, and a stuffed Chase with a Santa hat because that's the only thing he's consistently asked for. I think there will be cars and maybe some new bath toys in his stocking.
Now I just have to figure out when I'll be kid-free for long enough to sew the Santa hat to the Chase. That would be so much easier if he still napped regularly.

We don’t, but we also won’t make them do gifts to one another. We want them to decide if they want to give someone a gift, not to do it because they have to. I hope that makes sense. It’s early and not enough coffee

I'm not planning on it until he's older. Maybe she can make a card for him or some other craft project like that? I have labeled a gift or two for his cousins as from my kid if I take him to a store with me and ask him "should we get this for so-and-so?" and he nods his head yes.

I make a shutterfly calendar "from" the kids, then they each pick a gift for him. My oldest made him a keychain from polymer clay, the little guy got him an emoji pillow.

Teacher gifts... I have no idea what to do this year. DS has one FT teacher and 10 student workers/student teachers who work in his room. What do y'all think of a collective gift of a basket of treats for them? Some are only in there an hour a week, while some spend hours a day. I wish I had the cash to get them each something, but that's just not happening this year.

Our daycare actually does "teacher appreciation day" where parents are asked to bring treats/breakfast/whatever for the teachers. 10 student staff is A LOT to buy individual gifts for. Maybe a card and a gift card for the one FT teacher, if that can be given to her inconspicuously?

We usually do movie night bags for DDs teachers: voucher for Redbox movie, package of popcorn, movie box of candy, glass bottle of soda (like the old coke bottles) and a nip. Because they deserve booze for dealing with my kid 9 hours a day. I think with the gift bag it comes out to $10 a person. The teachers love them since they are different than the gift card in a mug. Also everything is consumable so they don't have to find room in their house for something.
However this year I just got all the stuff to do the bags for the 6 teachers in the toddler room and today they move her to the preschool room. Do I also give all of them gift bags too? Or do I focus on the teachers that she's been with for most of the year? I think one or two of them are floaters and would overlap but it would be like 10 total teachers which comes out to a lot of money after all is said and done.

@shielathetank I did them all last year when that happened to us.
This year, the kids are just making them cards because I have 11(!) to buy for between the teachers and all of DS1’s therapists. That doesn’t count the two teachers from DS2’s old room that he moved from last month (they had him for 15 months)

DS's lead teacher is 36 weeks pregnant, so I was trying to think of something that could be enjoyed on maternity leave too. I always forget about Redbox.

She would probably really enjoy that nip on maternity leave too! I think you can do Redbox completely digital now? I know last year they only sold the gift certificates in packs, but it still worked out to a reasonable amount.

I am so lazy though and that seems like more work than a GC in a card. But for TEN teachers?! J's daycare talked about moving him up towards the end of the year but I'm hoping I don't have to deal with that change until after the new year. Although ours is just on the other side of the divider and there are only two teachers and floaters in each side.

Last year she had approximately a billion floaters and part timers so I spent a small fortune in teacher gifts. Plus you have a lot of the teachers rotating for end of day so she's really cared by almost all the teachers. They really do a wonderful job and I do appreciate them so much. $10 for an entire year of my kid does not seem enough. I really wish I had more disposable income. I'd be in there like Oprah "you get a spa day, and you get a spa day, everyone gets a spa day!"

sheilathetank I tend to do one thing for all the teachers at the preschool, because they all interact with him at some point in the day. I'll have him make cookies, or hot fudge, or cocoa spoons or something. Then for the one or two teachers that are actually "his" I'll add in something larger/gift card. In your situation, I would probably just do a smaller thing for all the teachers, like bagels and coffee or doughnuts.
