This year has been crazy fast! We still don't have a tree or anything up because it feels the weekends fly by, too.

Our pup passed away yesterday. This is hard. Especially that I had to pick up DS from school with a fever that afternoon & we had to wake him up from sleeping to let him know. He's home today because he has to be fever free for 24hrs & he's still coming to terms with everything.

I also have to write an email to his gym teacher. Apparently she's been making them practice tying shoes on some wooden shoe thing & is giving them a test where they are supposed to be able to doubleknot with their eyes closed according to DS. He's been having such high anxiety about this he said yesterday that he wished he was sick on Thursday bc that's when gym is. I guess they're having a "test" on this & if they can't do it, it's going to be on their report card. Like wtf. Isn't gym the time to run free & let loose? He said they haven't done any fun activities in a couple weeks since she started this whole shoe tying thing since a lot of kids can't tie their shoes. Okay but doubleknot with your eyes closed?? You need your eyes open to do that you snatch!

NamasteBirches did you write the mail? Get feedback? To me, gym time lets the kids get rid of energy so they can go back to class and focus. It shouldn’t be something to stress kids out.

I volunteered all last week at my son’s school book fair. It was actually fun. I bought a lot of books lol
Next week I’ll be back to help out with the school store. Volunteering at the school wasn’t something I thought I would be into but I’m enjoying it and have made a few new friends.

Hugs for losing your pup NamasteBirches. +1 also for gym class being for energy release, not learning to tie shoes.

This weekend DD saw Santa and we put up our tree. I love helping DD put the ornaments on and hang the stockings. She'll be 8 in the spring and I know the magic of Santa only has a couple years left.
I'm scheduled for a pneumonia shot tomorrow. Then I get to go to physical therapy with a sore arm. As much as that will suck, my future self will thank me for being proactive with all the vaccines.

NamasteBirches did you write the mail? Get feedback? To me, gym time lets the kids get rid of energy so they can go back to class and focus. It shouldn’t be something to stress kids out. I did write it. She never wrote me back but DS had gym the next day & when he got home he said did you write an email to my gym teacher? I said yes why? What did she tell you? "Just that you emailed her." Um ok. Why are discussing adult things with 7 year olds? I have a real problem with that. So they did their stupid little test & he's supposed to practice however many times a day she said with his eyes open & then closed. Yeah okay lady. His shoes aren't ever untied during gym. If you're having issues with kids, GO TO THOSE KIDS & THEIR PARENTS. they're so scared to confront/single kids out these days so they just punish the whole class. Something like this happened at his old school too where his teacher sent out a snooty email about something that didn't apply to us & we're like wtf only one or two people could ever do such a thing. Just call them out on it!! Ughhhh so I don't know how to approach this gym thing especially that she felt the need to tell DS oh your MOM emailed me. Okay & what?! But then she doesn't write back

I went to the book fair this year to meet DS there & prior to his class coming, the volunteers were there & ALL they were talking about were their kids gungho in all.the.sports. Sports.sports.sports. That's all I hear here. Like I wonder if these kids are actually into it or are coerced by their parents being so into it. While my kid over here just tolerates soccer, wants to take a break next season anyway & what he loves to do (art) we have to travel to other towns because there's not enough art programs anywhere for his age. 😔

That sucks that there are no arts programs nearby!

I'm waiting for some Amazon deliveries today. Most of DD's gifts and some of Dh's. Hiding the gifts might be a challenge, though.

I just had to pick DS up again. He has a cough & they called saying he threw up. It was due to his coughing, not because he has some kind of stomach bug. I am annoyed because he is fine. I am sending him to school tomorrow so they better not call & be like "you were supposed to wait 24 hours before sending him in" bs. He was super pissed because today is art & last week he missed because he had to stay home because of his fever & missed it as well. Poor kid. Last year he was never sick. Idk what's going on this year. It's not like he's sick sick. He just has one damn symptom. Gahhhhhhhh

That sucks that there are no arts programs nearby! I'm kind of missing our old town in this regard. We had a really nice art association that had a joint gallery thing that also had community programs that included adult & kids classes. It was barely a mile away & right next to the school. It's where he did his summer camps. It would be a trek to do their afterschool program & I don't even think we'd make it there on time anyway. There's another similar place a couple towns over closer to the city here that we're on a waitlist for that starts in January. I hope he gets a spot for their winter program. If he doesn't, I really don't know what else is there besides going way farther & if we're going to do that we might as well just head back to our old town so he may have a few familiar faces at least so I guess we'll see.

Aside from a Skittles candy cane, shopping for DD is done! I picked up stocking stuffers from the dollar section today. Now I'm eating pretzels & hummus, and waiting to pick up DD from school. We're taking her to a cookies & milk with Santa event tonight.

I am slightly annoyed. I sent out some things to my parents & my brother + kids for Christmas. No response from anyone. Like gee, is a thank you text asking for too much? Are they expecting me to ask if they received it? I know they did. I got tracking.

hey girls hey!
it's been a bit! I'm terrible at message boarding.
I told my partner in October that I wanted to separate (we never married). We'd been together almost 14 years. I've been unhappy for a loooooooooooong time (6/7 years) and felt it was time to take the leap.
It's still tough and an adjustment, but I'm happy. I'm ready for my future.
DS is 9.5, in 4th, and adjusting to the separation well.
