Still sick but recovered enough to be up and about and complaining about being sick 🙄. Thanks for asking.
Oh, reno hell, that is a special place. But I am sure it will be worth it!

AFM, things have been kind of hectic with DS. His private speech therapist said a couple weeks ago we might want to look into getting his tongue tie officially looked at (in regards to getting released.) It's very small & since he didn't have trouble with feeding as a baby, they didn't push for it to get done with him being in the NICU. Then through the years, we'd ask about it & it'd always be a wait & see if it effects his speech but the problems he has wasn't caused by the tie but now we're to the point that it just might be prohibiting him from reaching some markers on sounds that come at this age. He's mostly having trouble with Rs. so we had an appt with an ENT yesterday & he basically said let's do it. It's not a guarantee that it'll be the cure with his speech but it'll make him more comfortable with having the tongue completely free even though he can stick it out all the way but he can't lift it up if that makes sense. BUT once DS heard surgery when he said it'll be at the surgery center, he started getting teary-eyed & all yesterday we had to talk him down because he thinks they're going to cut his tongue off. This is going to be tough. It's a 5 minute procedure but I'm pissed that we didn't do it sooner or any of the countless medical professionals we came across/I asked didn't recommend it prior to this age of him being more aware of stuff because he's having some serious anxiety about it & it s.u.c.k.s.

Are you doing a full bath reno or just updating some things bellatrix? We are mostly doing a full renovation, minus the tub & tile around it, which will come later. MH ripped out the floor, walls, vanity, medicine cabinet and lighting, so all of those will be replaced.

I hope the surgery helps, that stinks that they didn't suggest it earlier. Thanks. We have asked every new person we've come across through the years but because it's "not that bad" & he was functioning, it just wasn't on the "you should/need to do this" so we felt like okay, we're asking medical professionals & if they seem to be chill about it then ok. It sucks that we reached this point now at 7 where it's become kind of a last ditch effort for speech when he's aware of stuff. I'd much rather him be younger & oblivious but I know once it's done then it's done & he'll be fine. It's just the waiting part leading up to it & how we're going to deal with him not eating/drinking the morning of. 🤔

Who is doing what this weekend?
I’m currently at DD’s swimming, drinking the weakest coffee in the history of coffee. No real plan for the rest of today. But I am excited for tomorrow, we are taking DD to see the Moscow Ballet Company perform Sleeping Beauty.

There is a ToT event this afternoon at a huge outdoor shopping mall here but the weather is iffy today for rain so that is gonna suck. Rain has been getting in the way of everything lately, such a bummer. So we'll assess the situation when the time comes since the weather says on & off rain/drizzle. I hope it works out because it's always one of our things we do.

I ran some errands this morning & we went out to dinner for MH's birthday (it's not until Wednesday, but we'll be trick or treating). Otherwise it was a super lazy day & I'm not complaining.

We ended up going to the ToT event yesterday. It was drizzling the whole time but DS fandangled his mask on top of his glasses somehow (don't ask me how) & said it's like an umbrella! So he was okay with it. The only thing that was a little rough was he wanted one of us to go in each & every store that was set up inside with the candy. I really feel like he's regressing in this dept of his social skills. I remember last year we just had to wait for him while he'd go happy along. He's very clingy & always looking for us. For being 7, it's kind of concerning especially that he wasn't always like this. Just another anecdote we have to bring to his dev pedi in January.
But anyways, there's another ToT at an actual mall today. We may go since it's indoors. It would be nice to make up for yesterday's weather. We'll see.

bellatrix it'll be worth it once the reno is done! NamasteBirches sorry it's taken so long for a doc to say something. This age is tough for medical stuff. FX your DS goes in and it's NBD.

We've been busy all month. This weekend was household work and beginning to button up the house for winter. We also carved a pumpkin that DD designed. She got her report card this past week. Her teacher told us she's a super good student and her reading/comprehension is off the chart for her classroom. She struggles in math with timed testing but she does know her math facts. She gets so nervous when she's under pressure and at home she'll start crying. I've been trying to help her with her fear/pressure for years but I just can't break through. It's not just math. There's random everyday things that involve acting quickly that she'll get scared of. It's gotten better over the years but it's still there.

bellatrix I was just curious how your DD was adjusting to a new school? Thank you for asking! She was super hesitant before starting, but ran out to MH after her first day yelling "I love my new school!". How's your son doing?

He likes the school itself, loves the teacher but he's having a hard time in the making friends department. I kinda don't know what else to do. We've already reached out to the guidance counselor.
