Any bassinet recommendations? I’d been looking at the Halo, but we have a chest bed with drawers underneath, so I’m not sure it would work. Have any of you used the Halo? Thoughts? We have the Arms Reach Clear-vue co sleeper. It can be stand alone, or be up connected to your bed. It was good, but I admit I just ended up with the baby in bed with me (was sure to follow safety recommendations) most of the time.

courtniko, I originally looked at the Arms Reach, but wouldn’t want to connect it to the bed, since I still want to be able to get to the drawers underneath. I like the swivel part of the Halo, since it seems like it would make getting out of bed easier, but still have the easy access of the Arms Reach.

Lurking... bonzo I'm planning on getting the Halo as well. I like the swivel as well as the pull down side. If the legs don't fit under your bed you could just position it beside your bed. Because of the swivel baby could still be close to you. I've had a friend tell me that 2 or 3 of her coworkers used it and loved it.

I’m probably way overthinking this...I do that 😉

So this is baby #3, but we'd given away all of our baby stuff over the years so will be starting over. Thankfully, my family members have offered up some of their items, including a Britax infant seat. (I know normally that's something you buy new, but I'm certain this one is not expired and was never involved in an accident).
Any stroller recs to go with that car seat? I'd like something that could handle gravel driveways.
Also, does anyone have a rec for a breastfeeding book or other resources? Due to a variety of reasons my milk supply was lousy when I had the twins, and I just felt very unprepared. I'd like to go in this time knowing what else I can do to help increase my chances of being able to breastfeed.

bearfootzcontinued I really like our City Mini- super easy to maneuver. It does gravel /dirt okay, depending on how smooth it is — it’s just bumpy but still not horrible to push. You can get adapters to work with the infant car seat.

bearfootzcontinued I do not have any book recommendations, but my hospital offers a free breastfeeding class pre birth, so you could look into any classes offered by your hospital. Post birth they have weekly meetings at the hospital to help with breastfeeding. You could also attend a LaLetche Leage meeting before hand, and asked for book or other recomendations. My LLL even has online meetings once a month on facebook, so I can ask questions while in bed in my PJs.

Just to clarify - this is the one that you can’t do forward facing with I believe. It is their essentials and not the complete.

If you are serious about making it work I would find an IBCLC in your area to work with, not an LC.

I’m thinking I might want a “real” high chair this time. We have one that attaches to a chair (like the fisher price space saver) but it didn’t actually sit well on our chairs because of the way they curve. What high chairs do you have and like?

I was thinking the same thing and am curious to see responses. I read good reviews for the Joovy Nook.

mamabear02, a bunch of friends have recommended the Graco 4-in-1 (or 6-in-1 is the new version I Think?). It reclines for a small infant, then sits up for a baby who can eat, then converts to different configurations for toddler, whether you want a booster or whatever.

mamabear02, I have so many friends who love it! It’s the one we decided to register for, but we might end up with a barely used Peg Perego hand-me-down courtesy of a friend of an aunt.

I'm debating if I need to spend the $$ on this swaddle set from milkmaids - or if I need one of the matching robe/swaddle sets. That site looks dangerous to me. I like the headbands better than the hats but we're team green. Maybe I'll send DH the link with a suggestion for a mother's day gift.

bearfootzcontinued, I've trying to decide about the swaddles as well. They have such cute ones! I can't decide if I just want to get a gender neutral one. But I really like the super floral and girly ones for a girl so I'm also thinking about getting one each for either gender. I'm probably making this way more complicated than it has to be lol. It would make a really good Mother's Day present though!

That's the problem I'm having - logic tells me get gender neutral or the rainbow one for our rainbow baby - but then I think how do I pass up a super cute girly one if it's a girl? I do have two other family members due after me that perhaps I could re-gift if we don't use the girl swaddle...

I think I have officially finished all my baby shopping. We didn't have much to buy but I wasn't planning on getting anything until after 30 weeks. But then I found some sales....

sammysam, sales get me too! We have two baby showers coming up though (one where we grew up, one where we live) so I’m restraining myself from buying anything but decor for now.

bonzo Yes! If you have showers coming up you definitely want to wait. I would be the worst. I'd end up buying everything on my registry myself:/

sammysam, I haven’t been too tempted to buy anything off my registry yet. Mostly it’s been slowly collecting cloth diapers, buying drawer organizers and that sort of thing. And at this point, I feel like we’re all set for diapers for the newborn stage, I’ll just need to get more prefolds for the next size up, but we have plenty of time for that!

So...I decided to buy myself a 40th birthday gift (because not only did I turn 40 last month but I'm pregnant and I do all the parenting alone...so I feel I deserve it). I was only going to buy the Halo swivel bassinet for this baby (which I did a while ago on sale). Then I changed my mind on only using a convertible (since we have an extra) and bought a new infant seat. Then I decided to buy myself the stroller to go with it (since I always hated my stroller). Then I bought the bassinet attachment to go with it. And the stand. I'm really excited to get/use all of this. But I'm laughing at myself now that I was so sure I wasn't going to make any big purchases this time around.

sammysam what kind did you get? Especially parenting solo I can definitely say you are justified in getting a new infant seat and nicer stroller! And basically anything that will make your life easier in any way!

mamabear02 I got all Peg Perego stuff. We have that brand for our convertible for DD and she LOVES it (as do we). So I figured I'd get the infant seat. My mom got an old Peg Perego stroller from a yard sale years ago and DD LOVED it when she was little but HATED ours. So I figured go big or go home. It was a huge splurge but I think if it's something I like and that baby is comfy in then I'll use it more and it will be worth the cost. At least that's what I'm telling myself!

We completely splurged and bought a Snoo. It was on sale, but still, a lot. DH was determined we need one, I am not as convinced, I am (probably stupidly) nervous it will hurt a feed in demand breastfeeding relationship. I am hoping that when we are done with it we can resell it for a good price.
I really want a nice double stroller. We never had a nice stroller with the other 2, but I feel like with 3 it could really come in handy. They just all seem so huge and clunky.

courtniko, my sil is giving us her old city mini double stroller. We have the single and a friend of mine also has the double and it’s pretty easy to push. I think the prices have dropped too because they are coming out with new models. I’m honestly not sure how much we’ll end up using the double (DS will be almost 4 when baby is born), but for free we will certainly see!
