DS2 dropped to the 1 percentile for his weight at his 4 month check up. His pediatrician talked with us about starting baby foods to try to up his weight. I smiled and nodded but have no plans to introduce baby foods until closer to 6 months. I’ve always thought food before one year was just for practice. “Food before 1, just for fun!?” But then she gave a handout that said that the APA recommends that babies have BM/formula exclusively for the first 6 months. I just can’t imagine a little baby food/cereal will help him gain weight. I don’t know. Our dr said the same thing. But the amount of food DD1 ate at first, I can’t see it helping much? That’s what I was thinking!

E turned 6 months on last Friday so we started solids over the weekend. I’m doing a mixture of purées and BLW. More like a baby guided experience. Letting her take the preloaded spoon and feed herself and safe whole strips of food. Right now we’ve only tried banana and avocado. She fell from 3% to 2% in weight and fell in height too...she is gaining but her percentiles dropped. Dr isn’t too concerned but is having us fortify her breastmilk bottles while at daycare w formula and starting solids to see how she does. She is definitely loving it and wants to eat.

DS is very interested in food but hates it when the spoon gets anywhere near his mouth. We’ve tried pears and baby oatmeal mixed with BM, which we started at 5 months (2 weeks ago). Hopefully he’ll get the hang of it with time!

L is super excited by us eating so we started some fruit purees last week. She loves pears and bananas while sweet potatoes are hit or miss.

oookay, I lied, I forgot. I made some sweet potato puree for myself a while back and gave DS a taste. It wasn't immediately rejected lol. Also, I gave him a few tiny bites of apple sauce this morning because I had no milk to give him and I was dry as a bone and he was crying for food. It held him over for an hour until I had something in my boobs to give him, and then his godmother brought us some formula tonight to top him up when that happens. My tiny child can drink 8 oz in just over an hour.
