Allelu. It's a 3 day weekend for DS due to staff development. We have a game on Saturday. So far that's all that is planned. Would love to plan that trip to Ikea but we need a truck to do so & still not sure if DH is working again on Saturday so I guess we shall see.

It's a three day weekend for DD, too. There's a local fall festival setting up for Saturday and we're all wanting to go do different things. The plan is DD will head over with me, then we'll meet up with DH.

Next weekend is my long weekend. DD doesn't have school, so I took off work for a mommy-daughter day. We all have that Monday off as well, so it'll be an extra long weekend for DD & me.

DD had some big feelings tonight. Out of nowhere she started crying and talking about missing people she's cared about. Specifically family that has passed away. We talked and had hugs and I think that put her mind at ease. Being a kid is hard.

So DS' new school does this A.R. testing for their reading skills. They set a level for each kid & all the books in their school is marked at its level & then they go online on this program & take a test on basically their comprehension of what the story was about. Each test is worth .5 points & they have this thing that once they get to 5 points they make it a big deal & they get a prize which DS told me is just candy or something like that. His old school had nothing like this.. like, at all. So when he first started, he was kind of in the dumps about it. I was a little confused about what the heck it was. I thought it was legit tests but really it's testing for fun kind of to actually gauge how they are reading. The other week, with the help of DS, we were able to log into his account from home so I was able to see firsthand what these tests are because being a 7 year old he doesn't quite grasp decimals so he was getting questions wrong & thinking you have to get all of them right to get points not knowing you still get credit for right answers even if you get let's say 3/5 right. So anyway, what I noticed with this thing is that sometimes it will read the questions to you if you click voice on & other times there's no option I guess depending on the book & DS is not at the strongest level of reading just yet so my concern is if he can't read the questions fully, how is he going to answer them? There hasn't been anything that came home saying we weren't allowed to do this at home or where we can access practice tests so this morning we logged in & he took a couple of tests to up his level since he came home saying there was a kid that was already at 5 & he was barely at 2. I wonder if his teacher will notice or say anything but like what's the difference? I didn't do it for him, he did. He just usually takes one a day & every time we try to do one when he gets home, it won't allow us to go on because it's already after 4 before we get on it & they're so stickler they know they're out of school then. It just sucks his old school set the bar so low so now it's kind of like a shock value we're getting adjusted to while everyone else is used to all of this, it's just been a transition academically.

NamasteBirches DD has an AR program too. It's a little confusing for kids just jumping in. She loves getting points and this year her school will give a party at the end of the year for a certain number achieved.

Poop. DH is working tomorrow. I can't wait until the spring. We have decided to skip soccer for a season. DS has asked & I am in dire need. He has been going nonstop since he's been 3 (the first few years were just instructional though.) I mean, there is winter break between fall & spring seasons but it'd be nice to not have commitments when the weather is nice. I just can't handle the whining & more times than not complaining. He claims he'll pick it back up in the fall but hell to the naw of agreeing to DH coaching again. This last practice I saw DH finally admit to getting flustered with the kids. He kept saying he would do it one more time even though I kept saying we're not doing the spring but he's on board now. Lol

Ahhhh we finally won a game!! Second to last game of the season & two of the players were late. I just really can't stand the lack of caring. One girl said she's not going to be at next week's game (& she has snack next week) & I heard another parent holler at her kid that this is the last time he may ever get to score a goal this season. Like wtf. Gee, thanks. So we'll be short next game. Ugh
