We are buying 4t now!!! 3T would still fit but she’s about to outgrow so buying fall/winter gear in 4t. She has really changed in the past couple months. Grown a lot, her hair is much longer and her language is a lot different.

Also, DD3 officially switched today from daycare to preschool!! I can't believe I don't have a daycare kid anymore! And the whole first week I have to pick her up at 12 to give her time to adjust, so that is cutting down the time I have to sort everything out with the taxes, adding to the stress level. That is so crazy!! First bc our babies are getting big and second bc daycare lasts soooo long here. I moved dd3 to 3t clothes today - whaaaat??
Well, to be fair I call it daycare and preschool but the only difference is the age group. They have one group for kids age 1-2 and then around their 3rd bday they switch to the 3-6 group. It's not like they actually have a preschool curriculum.

Also, Hi! 👋 I try to lurk, but stay mostly on GD. Although I end up posting on Nov 13,15, 16 and 17 late at night when I’m not paying attention. 😬

Just moved L into mostly 3t stuff. We leave for vacation in the Keys Friday and it can not come soon enough. I made a pumpkin pie from a pumpkin the other day and an apple tart this weekend also beef bourginon and last night pho. So I guess my fall cooking is in full effect. We had snow yesterday. Glad to see everyone's updates. I am fully staffed again starting the second week of November so maybe I will have time to check in more!

People always bring up how tall/big/etc Dd2 is and it drives me crazy.

It’s assumed she’s a toddler and less capable until I point out that she’s potty trained and very able to hold her own on the playground.

I just put DD3 into 3T clothes and they're still a bit big on her. A lot of her 24m stuff still fits, but the 18m was definitely getting too small.
We always get asked if DD1 and DD2 are twins. They're 22 months apart. But DD1 is really tiny for her age (negative percentiles).

I have to remind people a lot that M is only 2 because she's so big. They ask about her speech, wondering if she's delayed (I think she is, a bit, but not as bad as some people think) comment that it's weird she's not potty trained, etc. It's very frustrating

But seriously, a lot of people have no clue. I remember when DD1 had just turned one we were at my parent's church and someone was like, "She's 1?! Wow, she's really big for her age!!" And I was like... dude, she's in the 3rd percentile... Now she's around the -5th or so.
We also waited a year for DD1 to start school, so she's a year older that most of her classmates, but she's still the smallest in the class. :/

How is she doing socially? And yeah, people are idiots. I’ve had many, many people tell me dd3 can’t have arthritis “she’s a kid”. No kidding Sherlock. The numbers and rheumatologist say otherwise, but, yeah you’re right I’m sure the top medical professionals at our research based university are wrong. Clearly they can’t tell she’s a child. 🤦♀️ oh and I pretty much refuse to go to target on Sunday anymore...too many people who can’t navigate life.

While we are confessing...I struggle so bad with deciding enough is enough. Yesterday I worked a few hours, toured two homes, took my kids out to lunch, took them for group photos, showered them all, mowed my front lawn, emptied and loaded the dishwasher, order pizza for and attended my Nieces bday party. And it doesn’t feel like I got anything done. Today I hosted an open house, wrote a purchase offer for a client, raked/bagged the whole yard with dh, put away several lawn items for the winter, folded laundry, washed more laundry, prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner, changed my bedding, bathed 4 children (they rarely bathe two days in a row, tonight was more for fun and the fact they clearly had too much fun with markers today), sent an assortment of emails and other housekeeping tasks, and it doesn’t feel like enough! I still feel like we are falling further behind. I really struggle with this and idk what to do.

dizzycooks yup that sure is enough! I mean, I like to think I am fairly busy each day but you win. Try to give yourself some grace. I get the never ending task list that makes you feel like you haven't done enough. Sometimes it makes me sick to think about all the things. But it will get done and being exhausted and unhappy won't change anything so try to let yourself find the balance. We are on vacation, hubs lost his drivers license somewhere in the airport, he sliced his foot open today and got stung by a wasp. I may not let him out of the house tomorrow. We did see a cool shark in the harbor and made friends with a big bird that almost climbed in my lap. 🌴☀️🍻

kcrkcs, have you gotten any news about the lung thing they saw on your scan? dizzycooks, DD1 is ok with it. She knows she's small and whenever people look at her and DD2 and go, "Oh! Are you twins?" (happens I'd say around 2x / month), she just says, "No, I'm small for my age." And she totally identified with a unicorn book we're reading where the protagonist is just starting school and is very small. She said, "Like me!!" But she knows what she's good at (gymnastics, she's a beast at monkey bars - it's unreal, and drawing), and she has no qualms telling people she's good at those things. The main reason we held her back was for social reasons, and I am so so so glad we made that choice. Socially and emotionally she is at the same level as the girls she's in school with now.

kcrkcs, thank goodness!!! I'm headed to the US for business tomorrow. DDs 1+2 were freaking out today - DD2 has been acting out for a few days, but today she clung to me. DD3 doesn't really get what's going on, but she'll probably freak tomorrow morning when my boss picks me up to take me to the airport. And while I'll miss them, I'm also really looking forward to it. And for the first time in my life, I get to fly business class.

I will say, my kids have been awesome about dhs new schedule. They 100% get that he’s working even though he’s home. Not to say they’re quiet or I don’t shush them a ton, but they know it’s not playtime for him. They also know life goes on while travels and they don’t change their behavior. I’m not sure what that says. I am sure it relates to how many hours he use to work out of the house and so it doesn’t feel much different...

Another week comes to an end.
Have we discussed Halloween costumes? DD3 is going to be a bunny. I also have a unicorn, a mermaid and a honey pot. If it's not freezing cold, it should be fun. It's looking cold so I'm a little worried. Last year was awfully cold.

It's looking cold so I'm a little worried. Last year was awfully cold. I'm having a neon rainbow fairy and a necromancer. It's been suggested that we make the fairy undead to match the necromancer, but I don't think we'll go with that lol.

lollipop, My unicorn is technically a rainbow unicorn fairy kitty. Don't ask me how that works. I just showed her picks of costumes until she agreed that this was what she was talking about.

dizzycooks, no I don't have to travel too frequently, but probably about 2-3 times a year I'm gone for 1-2 nights for business. This is the first time that I've come to the US by myself, though. I fly back tomorrow.

I'm exhausted. I only work 2-3 days a week usually. Despite that fact, I'm exhausted. I don't have energy or motivation to do anything when I'm at home, and all I want to do is sleep. I think it's my super fun combo of mental illnesses messing with me. Being "on" at work is so draining mentally, and physically spending 6 hours a day on my feet on concrete floors is killing me. It sucks, and I really need to get past it, because I like my job, and I really need it, but I can't keep letting things slide at home. H has been amazing this week, he's cleaned the living room, kitchen, and entry and made the kids clean up the playroom and the lego and stuff in the dining room.

I’ve heard that working pt can be more challenging than ft because it’s hard to give yourself the grace you’d have if you were gone 8-10 hrs. Ft you expect to be tired and overwhelmed by to dos at the end of the day. Pt you think you’ve only worked “a little” and the expectation is that you keep o with all you did wen not working. I’m struggling with this too. I’m sure it’s more difficult when you’re an introvert and have other mental health challenges. You’re doing a great job!! Can you get inserts to help your feet? My feet take weeks to adjust when I go back to teaching after a summer off.

dizzycooks I have inserts and they help a bit, but I think the biggest part of the problem is we have bare concrete floors in the store. I think I need new shoes to go with my inserts lol. H cleaned most of the downstairs while I was at work last week, and that's helped a lot with my stress. And I've nostly been keeping it tidy.

I really need to cut back on work. At the beginning of the year I agreed to do something at the end of the year, and now I'm regretting it. I also did some thinking about where I want to be in the mid-term to long-term and came to the realization that this activity won't really be beneficial to what I think I want to do. So I'm going to keep up with it until the end of 2019 (that's how long I've committed so far) and then I think I'm going to bow out.

You wouldn’t be able to give some notice and cut back sooner? How do you teach someone balance? Dh is working from home now and he literally only works and sees the kids. Never stops to go for a run, won’t go for a bike ride after work, just starts in on the house and kid stuff. There is no way it’s healthy or sustainable.

That is basically our life here now, too. I keep telling myself that it’s just the season of having little kids and we will get more “free time” as they get older. It’s really tough having no balance, though!

Anyone else have a super accident prone toddler these days?
Dd2 split her chin open last month and had to get it glued back together. Today she fell down the concrete steps in our backyard and bruised/scraped her whole face up. 😓
