Super tired today for some reason - the baby has been kicking my bladder all day and I swear I've almost peed my pants like 3 times. Eeeek!
DS had his first day of summer school today, and DH really likes the new teacher! What a relief. DS's previous teacher was such a special lady, and we were really hoping the next teacher would also be a good fit. So far so good! DS was also in a great mood when he got back from school, which is another positive indicator. We'll see how tomorrow goes!

Morning! Glad to hear day one was a success Taitai! It's only 10am here and I'm exhausted already. Lots of things to be done around the house. I'm about to go grocery shopping. I may start packing up the dining room this afternoon.

Hello! Feels like it'll be a toasty one today! I usually try to do open windows in the mornings and AC if needed in the afternoon... it isn't even 10am yet and I feel warm.
I plan to take DS to a free toddler art class at the library this afternoon. It is limited to 20 kids so will try and go a bit early. I hope the fact that it is in the afternoon works to our benefit, more kids that will stay home and nap!
Have a good Monday everyone!

So so done with today and I've only been up an hour... DD woke me up screaming like Jack Jack (at the end of the Incredibles) and then again at 6:15 and it took her a while to calm down.
She chewed the end of my iPad/iPhone charger and now the iPad won't recognize it to charge so guess who's getting new charging cables today?

I have stuff to do, but I don't want to do any of them! I also am ready for lunch but it's only 11.
Does anyone else get 50/50 excited about movement but also kind of creeped out? Baby has started moving so so much and I can feel my belly rolling like a wave. It kind of gives me the heeby jeebies.

Morning, dropped DD at daycare so I could get some stuff done today. Currently waiting to get my usual thyroid blood work done.
I just got swindled for $40 plus $4 in parking when I did my hospital pre registration. Gotta love the Canadian health care system. The hospital no longer covers giant pads( they gave me 2), peri bottles, mesh underwear (1)or those giant blue pee pads (pack of 4) they put under you. I also got a hospital instruction book (which I got the last delivery and I imagine hasn't changed in 2 years) and $10 bucks covers the babies hospital security bracelet. Basically they give you a bed and access to doctors now which I mean is great but still those things are dirt cheap and they don't give you the option to buy the bracelet separately which is the only thing I would really need. Ok my rant is done, this is basically my only complaint about our healthcare since I've basically had a good experience getting access to testing and specialists.

I told hubs, it's like an alien inside me! Yes kinda creeped out too! You're not alone. It's like the most bizarre feeling having something alive moving/travelling under your skin. Now that it's the 2nd time for me, it feels creepy and cool all at the same time. SaveSave

Don't get me wrong, I'm constantly amazed at the miracle of something wiggling in there. Most of the time it makes me grin like a fool, but every so often I draw my hand back because I'm so taken back by the movement!

Hi all! Short work day because I am leaving early to take DD to her 18-month checkup this afternoon. This is the first day live on our new system and it is exactly how we expected it - a mess! I feel bad leaving my boss on this day of all days, but I'm so ready to be out of here today.
Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes! I don't want to quote a thousand separate times but you all sure made a girl feel special!

I have more questions, sorry! I've been thinking about birth a lot lately, which has me curious. I know if you have an epi you're stuck in the bed and in the same position but if you go med free can you choose the positions you give birth in?
Not just labor in, but actually push baby out. Something about on my back feet in the air just sounds not appealing.

I haven't caught up from the weekend yet and tried avoiding checking/posting cos I didn't want to make y'll feel alarmed or worried about yourselves since I think my last thread made some of you worry. Let's just say we are so glad hubs didn't get the privilege to be a 2nd time dad yesterday! We spent practically the whole Saturday night/ Sunday morning at L&D. I was having mild contractions Saturday night. Felt uncomfortable all day Saturday and went to bed earlish and was half awake asleep when I started feeling waves of pressure. Finally decided around 130am that we needed to go to the hospital. At which point I didn't care if the diagnosis was paranoia! and I rather get sent home labeled crazy than the alternative. Turns out I wasn't paranoid and was having mild contractions. Luckily they weren't consistent but doc on call came in anyways to check and my cerclage still seems to be holding. Have a follow up in a little bit this am and I feel a little better so should be able to take myself to my appt. I feel bad for hubs. he had to deal with DS and any house chores he can squeeze since last Wednesday and also had to work all day Saturday to make up for Wednesday. I am so blessed and grateful for hubs to be such a trooper and to be my life partner. Anyways I was thinking of all you O17 ladies and especially Taitai , and thecatsmeow , I hope you both continue being stable until term!

cythe, You don't have to go totally med free. They can let up the epi some so you can stand and have some feeling if you needed to - if hubs is going to be there with you, he can help support/hold you. I would say keep your options open for sure and know about them too. You may decide you can handle the pain but decide to also not. Things can progress differently from what you imagine it to be. We have many 3rd time moms here and they can prob give you more specifics.

cythe I know how you feel about the movements. I remember with DS,I would lie on my side and there would be this elbow or knee or something that would pop out and swing around. It was weird and cool to see. This one is hanging out so low. He keeps stomping on my cervix. For birth, I not only had an epi, but I was hooked up for pitocin, so there wasn't any moving around for me. By time I was pushing I didn't care about the position, but I didn't like not being able to tell what I was doing. The nurse said my pushing was good, but I really couldn't tell.

cythe I think it depends a bit on your doctor and where you give birth as well. We have a midwife this time at a birth centre and I can pretty much do whatever I want in terms of positions etc as long as it's safe. We are planning a water birth but are open to change if I'm not feeling it at the time DD was born in a hospital with a doctor (not an ob, but a family doc who does deliveries) and I did feel "stuck" in the bed even though I was med free with her and could have moved around no problem or done whatever. The hospital doesn't allow water births and basically the bed was my only option Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

thecatsmeow, hope you have a great time! That sounds like so much fun. I cant wait to get our patio done and give DS his bday present. It's an easel and I still need to sew him an apron lol! I know he would love to throw paint around on the it. He loves drawing or chicken scratching at this point - I just hope he doesn't follow my footsteps and make it his profession!

duskymonkey - I'm so glad they were able to stop whatever is happening. I care about you and find you to be a supportive and energetic force on the board! Unsolicited advice warning and this may be the most controversial statement we've had on the board but here it goes. If your situation were mine, besides the well being of my current DS, nothing would be more important than keeping that baby inside me. This is one of those life before and after situations. A development could happen where your life would not be the same after that event. I'm not saying your H is complaining about cleaning or the like but I would let my house go to shit before I would potentially lose a child. I would risk losing my job. Literally whatever it took because I can only imagine the pain of losing a child would be worse and would last my whole life. Way longer than my irritation that the floors are dirty or someone doesn't want to unload the dishwasher. ETA dusky I reread my post. I didn't mean to insinuate you are prioritizing house order over your pregnancy. All I should've said was don't sweat the small stuff. This time is going to suck for you but keeping your baby inside will make it all worth it in the end.

With DS1 my practice was very old school. You get the epi, you lie on your back, that's it. With DS2 practice I got the epi but I could move around. I was all over my bed throughout the push by process. He was sunny side up and coming down a little transverse so if I couldn't move I dont think I would've had my VBAC. I'd pose your question to your practice and see what the day.

I cashed in my Mother's Day present from my mom today. A full top to bottom deep clean of my house (she hired cleaners for me, not doing it herself). DD and I are hanging out on the deck with tea and books and they are cleaning away. It's the best

I got an epi but could move all around the bed. I pushed on all fours, squatting, sitting up while holding onto a bar, on my back, and probably other positions I don't remember. It was a long three hours.
ETA: My hospital has the option of nitrous oxide now (they didn't when DS was born). Anyone have experience? I want to try it but I'm also not ruling out an epi.
