Also XP in AL since I know this place is not super active these days.
I'm currently 30 weeks and have just started twice weekly NSTs and weekly fluid monitoring. I'm officially high risk because of age and weight bracket and past loss (unexplained stillbirth at 33 weeks, but had a subsequent successful pregnancy), though generally this pregnancy is currently uncomplicated. My OB has recommended NSTs 2x a week, and weekly fluid monitoring b/c of a very slightly dilated kidney on baby. She did say it was up to me if I wanted less monitoring because it is a lot.
I thought that these regular appointments would be reassuring, but after wrapping up the first week of them I am kind of a wreck. It turns out it is triggering AF to go through this constant monitoring. The time commitment of 2x weekly appointments for the next two months is also a lot, but honestly, it's much less of a big deal than the emotional toll it seems to be taking, and is worth it if it we end up catching anything concerning.
So, my question for you guys - should I continue to suffer through these appts because of the potential that they may be medically helpful? Should I talk to my dr about cutting down to once a week? Should I give it a little longer and see if I can figure out how to cope a little better? I basically feel that I don't have any ability to think about this decision objectively, and would love to hear other people's thoughts as I try to figure out what to do.
Thanks if you got through this and thanks in advance to whoever is still here and willing to engage in this convo with me
