Our one neighbor to the side we found out bought the house just a few months ago & are going to be renting it. 😔 So they've been having people back & forth doing repairs & being annoying looking over at our house in comparison like wtf. There's only a chain link fence separating us which we had plans in the future (we were thinking spring) to replace or affix panels up to it to make it easy but I found these tutorials for putting bamboo fencing right on the chainlink itself & it looks so cute so we may just do that sooner rather than later now that we know they have plans to rent it out. I'm also annoyed that every time they're out there they just stare us/our stuff down. Like go away. We just moved in 2 weeks ago FFS.

Also apparently on Friday DS went to the wrong school & then this morning we missed the bus so school has been going great over here!

Oh man NamasteBirches sounds like a but of a rough start. But hopefully those start of the school year hiccups and all smooth sailing for the rest of the year? DD’s school starts on Monday, need to figure out logistics now that I also have to head out to an office and not wfh anymore.

We've gotten back into the school routine surprisingly easy. DD is excited every day. I'm already annoyed with her attitude with the homework, though. She gets a small packet of worksheets for the week to complete. She's been asking to do only one worksheet each day. Kid, no. That's not how this works.

DS hasn't gotten any homework as of yet but part of it eventually will be reading for 20 minutes & doing a reading log. On the first day I was confused whether or not he had to bc he didn't write anything down in his planner so we did it anyways. He barely made it to 10 minutes. It's like dude. Things are going to be different this year, it's second grade.

I placed our first order for walmart's grocery delivery program since it's free with a promo code. I can't believe we're finally at an address that participates. Much excite! It's super hot today & we are desperate for groceries so it's gonna be nice not having to go out & get them.

I’m always amazed on here with homework for young kids. Around here kids basically don’t get homework in primary school. Maybe a bigger project here or there in the later groups but for the younger ones, nothing.

I am so ready for school to start tomorrow. We are just relaxing at home today since it is so hot out. My son has a haircut later and I’m not looking forward to leaving my air conditioned house.
My son turned six yesterday! His party on the 19th went well, minus Big Y forgetting to make his cake. (We had scheduled to pick it up early so they were able to make it in time and they gave us a discount) A handful of people didn’t rsvp but they also didn’t show so whatever I guess. The woman who sent in the rsvp for five kids responded to me late the night before his party saying the one kid we invited couldn’t come unless they all came because she was a single mom with five kids. That made me feel like an asshole but if the people who didn’t rsvp showed we would have been over room capacity, plus we had to pay per kid. I don’t know, it was a weird position to be in.

Writing and adding and shit.

loveswaffles last year DD had worksheets too, but they were completed in class. It seems like kids here are started with "homework" at a younger age than when we went through school.

yellowwallpaper it's not your responsibility to make arrangements for her other kids. It sucks being a single mom, but it's still not your responsibility to her. Although, I'm a cold hearted bitch. And happy birthday to your DS!

I agree with @threegiraffes on this, yellowwallpaper you have no reason to feel guilty, the other kids aren’t your responsibility. It was your kid’s party, you weren’t running a day care. Hope everyone had fun at the party!

Hope everyone had fun at the party! I know you are both right but I still feel a little bad. Everyone did have fun at the party! The parents that were there told us they liked that it was something different (we had his party at a children’s museum rather than the local bounce place that most parties are at) They got to go around the museum, meet two animals up close and do a science experiment (slime). I would do a party there again but definitely not invite as many people because $$$

It’s the first day of school here. After getting my son on the bus, I went to Target. Solo shopping, how I’ve missed you! I wanted to go early because less people and also it’s supposed to be super hot again today. Some of the schools in the state are planning on early dismissal because of the heat, thankfully our schools have ac.

Did someone say 7 was easier? Bc I hope so. I can't stand when people ask if DS is our only like it's so easy. He's been as hard as 3 kids lately, it's been insane. Idk what gives. The attitude, laziness, sassiness. I'm over it.
Oh yeah.. today's his birthday. Lol

Like yesterday. DH volunteered to be coach of soccer here so DS is on a new team obviously. DS was excited at first. You'd think well oKay this will be great. Newwwwp. He's literally the biggest sourpuss ever. It's embarrassing. People are probably like why would this guy volunteer with a kid that acts like he's not into soccer at all. I don't understand it. He says he wants to play & then when it starts, he finds every excuse in the book to complain about & usually walks off the field whining about something. I told DH last night I'm not doing this in the spring if the season continues like this. What's sad is that he really has potential & knows the sport but he's just lazy AF or unmotivated like idk what it is. I don't really care if he does sports or not, it's not that. It's just the flip flopping & now we're committed this year with DH being coach, we can't just quit. Ughh

We're trying to find something fun to do since it's a three day weekend. There's a children's museum an hour away that we haven't been to yet. We might go there. I just don't want to sit at home the whole time.

Happy birthday to your DS NamasteBirches! I hope soccer gets better for him. It could be emotions from moving and he'll settle down after a while. what's weird is that moving has been all positive with him. School has been going great (besides that bus hiccup), he hasn't complained about anything about it. He was all excited about it & now that it's done, it's just like the new normal so I'm glad at least it hasn't had an impact. Tomorrow is our second game so hopefully he's fired up to shoot some goals now that he's got his birthday presents. Lol

DH has a 4 day weekend, DS has only 3 so we had the day together. Too bad it was just a whole lot of work around the house trying to be rid of all.the.boxes. That & we also bought a couch. We have a big open space with nothing in it & not enough furniture so since we finally cleared the area, it was actually starting to echo so DH is picking it up now.
