I see it's been about a week since our last GTKY thread, so I thought I'd start a new one, with a "favorites" theme. Here we go!

1. Best vacation you have ever been on.
-Eco-tourism trip (pre kids) to the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica...we stayed in a tree house, went waterfall repelling, salsa danced, hiked in the rainforest (saw so much wildlife), got woken up by howler monkeys every morning, ate amazing food, did yoga on the beach, climbed a huge tree and repelled from it, kayaked in the ocean and in a crocodile infested river, went horseback riding on the beach, got up at dawn to go birding, volunteered at a bird sanctuary, and went whale watching. It was....amazing....can't wait to go there on a family trip some day in the future so the kids can experience it.
2. Favorite gift/present you have ever received.
-Crimp and Curl Cabbage Patch Kid when I was like 8 yrs old - I wanted it so badly and was insanely happy when I opened the box.
3. Favorite fashion trend from your childhood.
-Neon everything!
4. Favorite Olympic event to watch (winter or summer)
-Gymnastics (although swimming is a very very close second)

1. Best vacation you have ever been on - Visiting South Dakota probably tops my list for vacations. Mpunt Rushmore, the Badlands, lots of hiking. It was just really fun.
2. Favorite gift/present you have ever received - my mom took my on a surprise trip for my 18th birthday. Woke up super early, told me to pack a bag, and took me to the airport. We ended up going to Kansas City to see the Hallmark Card Museum and second the weekend relaxing. Super cheesy but looking back it was so fun and I'd love to surprise my girls with a similar gift/adventure one day.
3. Favorite fashion trend from your childhood - hooded sweatshirts. I had a lot in middle school. I love a good hooded sweatshirt still!
4. Favorite Olympic event to watch - swimming.

1 - Best Vacation- St. John this past January. We stayed at a B&B type place and it was amazeballs. 2 - Favorite Gift - This makes me sound so old, but my mom gifts each of us kids meat for Christmas. Like, half cows and just shows up in your freezer. Since I live long distance now, she gives us $500 to our local butcher. 3 - Favorite Childhood Fashion Trend - Jelly shoes that I never got to wear. The curse of big feet  4 - Favorite Olympic Sport to Watch - Damn, maybe snowboarding halfpipe? I lurve the Olympics tho, so I'm not picky. Close second is gymnastics, speed skating and figure skating. |

1. Best vacation you have ever been on.
We don't travel much, but had a great trip to Orlando when DS was tiny. We basically spent days by the pool and then did Disney for a day.
2. Favorite gift/present you have ever received.
DH bought me a wooden map of where we live. It's awesome.
3. Favorite fashion trend from your childhood.
Hmm. I was really into neon colors. Still love them LOL
4. Favorite Olympic event to watch (winter or summer).
I am big into swimming. Not the most exciting, I know, but I just can't get enough. Former swimmer over here.

1. Best vacation you have ever been on.
H "deployed" to Sicily for 2 months (before DD) and I went with. After he was done we did a week long Western Mediterranean cruise and then went to London for 4 days. London is definitely my favorite city.
2. Favorite gift/present you have ever received.
We don't really do a whole lot of presents at holidays/birthdays. I like time spent together better, so any Birthday/holiday my H is home is my favorite
3. Favorite fashion trend from your childhood.
I remember wearing jellies and how my feet always stank after wearing them. Flare jeans were big when I was in Jr high.
4. Favorite Olympic event to watch (winter or summer)
I love watching indoor volleyball (I'm a jv volleyball coach) and I also love watching softball (I played for 8 years growing up) and can't wait to see it back in the olympics in 2020

1. Best vacation you have ever been on. If we don't count the two study abroad trips and only vacations, I would have to go with the recent trip to Ireland. It was so much fun to be with my friends and we had the most perfect weather and saw so many amazing things.
2. Favorite gift/present you have ever received. Probably a necklace H bought me for our second Christmas together.
3. Favorite fashion trend from your childhood. I was....not fashionable...so I only wore jeans & t-shirts
4. Favorite Olympic event to watch (winter or summer) Gymnastics for summer. Figure skating for winter.

1. Best vacation you have ever been on.
The family trip to Oahu 4 years ago. We stayed in Honolulu, and toured around the island for almost a week. It was gorgeous! My favorite part had to be when H and I rented a moped and rode to the North Shore for a day to ourselves.
2. Favorite gift/present you have ever received.
The coffee maker I received as a high school graduation gift. It's still going strong today.
3. Favorite fashion trend from your childhood.
Hmmm, I wasn't the most fashionable child. I do remember loving my light up sneakers though...until I sadly out grew them in less than a month.
4. Favorite Olympic event to watch (winter or summer)
Figure skating!

1. Best vacation you have ever been on.
St. George, UT. We like to go in the winter, so the weather is perfect, everything is gorgeous, the hiking is great, and my O17 baby is my latest souvenir from a St George trip.
2. Favorite gift/present you have ever received.
Probably an easy bake oven as a kid. That started me on the winding road that led to my career path and really the rest of my life.
3. Favorite fashion trend from your childhood.
Jellies. I still have a pair of jelly gladiators that are my favorite. Also flip phones from high school because of the one scene from She's the Man. (Gif will be added when I'm at a computer)
4. Favorite Olympic event to watch (winter or summer)
Gymnastics or curling. I actually looked up all the rules to curling 3 years ago and now that i understand it, i get really into it.

1. Best vacation you have ever been on: Honeymoon to Jamaica.
2. Favorite gift/present you have ever received: when I was younger, maybe middle school, my mom gifted me glass blowing classes for Christmas. It was a ton of fun!
3. Favorite fashion trend from your childhood: flare jeans. Still love them!

1. Best vacation- Tie between Iceland and Costa Rica.
2. Favorite gift/ present- DH got my a ring for our 5th wedding anniversary to wear because my engagement ring and wedding band not longer fit.
3. Childhood fashion trend- Don't really have one since the late 80's early 90's have some truly heinous fashion.
4. Fav Olympic event- Swimming and downhill skiing

Taitai I have been all over Costa Rica and yet to have visit Osa. It was next on our list before we got pregnant with DD. It sounds so amazing!

1) best vacation - our one year anniversary trip to London, Paris and the Burgundy region of France. DS1 was our European souvenir.
2) Fav present - my Samantha American Girl doll I got for 2nd grade Christmas from Santa. My mom still has my collection boxed up for a potential Bunch baby girl.
3) fav trend - Kelly Kapowski was my life idol so pretty much poofy bangs and a side pony tail.
4) Olympic event - I'm not a huge Olympic person but I'll say woman's figure skating

Taitai I have been all over Costa Rica and yet to have visit Osa. It was next on our list before we got pregnant with DD. It sounds so amazing! The Osa is the best! It has everything - rainforest, beach, ocean, wildlife...I wanna go back right meow! We saw quite a few families when we were there too. I can see DH and I retiring to Costa Rica some day - we've been to over 60 countries between the two of us, and CR is always a stand out. |

1. Best Vacation: Hawaii, hands down. So much to see, plus time to relax. It was perfect.
2. Favorite Gift: Probably my engagement ring. I'm not a big jewelry person at all, but I love my ring. Plus, sentimental value and all that!
3. Childhood Fashion Trend: I was not a trendy kid at all. I remember wanting a "No Fear" shirt and light-up shoes, but never got them. I did get a pair of black calf-length leggings with lace around the bottom. They were super popular at one point.
4. Favorite Olympic Event: I don't really watch anymore, but used to really enjoy the women's gymnastics, figure skating, and luge.

danvers, I love that your favorite vacation has been South Dakota. The "fly-over states" are under appreciated! cythe, the meat gift is awesome! DH hunts and raises some cattle so most of our meat is acquired that way, but we've been gifted butcher shop certificates, grocery gift cards, and Hutterite chickens before. In my opinion food is a great gift!

I haven't really travelled anywhere else so it's nice to hear from someone so well travelled as you are that I may not be missing out on that much by not traveling elsewhere. I totally want to buy a place down there but can't decide where I like best! we tried to convince the in laws to buy something when they retired but they decided to move west instead of south 😥

August Blooms That is awesome you are able to travel to CR so often! I think one of the things that makes CR so special are the people - they are so friendly, laid back, and warm. The country doesn't even have a military! Hope you have a fun time on your next trip 😀
