First day of sitting on my ass! So not my style. DS is out on his morning walk with grandma and will come back to play on the water table soon so I will join them to sit under the porch. I don't have to be on complete bedrest but told to keep off my feet as much as possible which in my case is going to be such a challenge. Like if someone gave me a bag of money to sit still for an hour - I will lose!

britt , DH made fun of me for nesting the other day. I was restuffing my pocket diapers with the newborn inserts. It was my first nesting activity. My last pregnancy DH made me virgin pina coladas with coconut cream, frozen pineapple and pineapple juice all whipped up in the blender. Those were good. This time I'm liking virgin moscow mule: lime juice and ginger beer. Also like cranberry juice and soda with lime. I am thinking about getting one of those sodasplash machines. Anyone have one? Last pregnancy, virgin pina coladas got me through two beach trips. I'll be indulging again when we leave for the beach next week! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh hey britt. Come on over girl, you can nest for me! We really need to get started on a few things because we need to get everything in order before football season starts (8/1) since DH is mostly gone after that. I get overwhelmed just thinking about it. I don't drink a lot normally, but I've really craved soda (I haven't had any for like five years) and alcohol this pregnancy. So weird. We're going to a wedding on Saturday and I'm sad I can't have a couple drinks. DH is excited to have a DD though. Same about my H. He definitely doesn't complain about having a DD. I remind him that I he's just going to owe me after October. 😜 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I need booze so bad. My toddler is being such an asshole lately. I snapped and yelled at him last night. He just won't listen and I'm not sure of the best way to discipline a two year old. Standing in the corner doesn't work, and putting him on the couch for time out would just be a reward. This is a tough age. There is no reasoning. We've moved on to the defiant stage now ( DS just turned 3 ) and....sorry to report that;s even worse! All the whining and whimpering and fake crying when DS doesn't get his way is out of control. It sounds mean but have you tried taking a toy away or something he's playing iwht at the time he's not listening? That seemed to work for us. Still does. We've also sadly resorted to tv restriction based on behaviour. +1 with what august blooms said about redirection too. SaveSave

britt today is the first time in a long time I haven't napped when DD is because I have this sudden overwhelming urge to nest! So much organizing I want to do and such a little nap time to do it in!

"If ABC, then XYZ" "If you throw the toy, then I will take it away." And follow through. Is she going to cry? Sure, but she's learning my words are not empty and there are consequences to her actions. Then I redirect with something else. I use these statements for actions too. "If You dont hold my hand in the parking lot, then I will carry you." Does it suck to have to carry her, especially being pregnant right now? Sure, but I'm trying to show her we make choices and each choice has a consequence. That consequence can be happily walking while holding my hand, or being upset because I'm carrying you when you want to walk.

Perhaps I am the odd one out but I have not had the nesting bug yet this pregnancy. I'm sure I will get there eventually, but haven't felt motivated to work on anything for #2 yet!

I love a fauxijto. Muddle mint/lime/sugar (or sometimes I use simple syrup but I like the graininess of the sugar), add ice and fill with soda water (I have a soda stream) yoginikiki introduced me something similar which is delicious. Basil, lime, sea salt, and grapefruit seltzer. It is amazing! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The no nap for me is coming back to bite me now - can barely keep eyes open....
Also: Heartburn. I had it with DD and I've gots it now. Same symptom - just feels like something is caught in my throat. No pain or anything. I downed a lot of Tums last pregnancy but am trying to show some restraint this go around. I feel like my 1st Tri symptoms and 2nd Tri symptoms just added together instead of replacing each other... Im waiting for my 2nd Trimester glow and there's only a few weeks left of 2nd Tri!!!!

Taitai , I love grapefruit too and that sounds delicious and so glad you had a good appt. today too! Yippee! I saw your other post and you're in Thailand. I concluded that Thai people are the most hospitable people I have ever come across! I love Thailand. Hubs and I spent our honeymoon in Ko Samui. How do you get grapefruit there? OMG! I am so jealous of all the tropical fruits you get to eat there. So so jealous! One of my favs on a hot day is this Not sure what it's called in English lol! We love it here so much....been here 3+ years and have no plans to leave! Whenever we travel to go anywhere (even back to the states), we immediately miss it here and are so happy to come back home. I think that's a sign this place is a good fit for us! We all love the fruit too - DS was asking for dragon fruit, rambutan, and mangosteen the other day. He's basically Thai on the inside...everyone tells us he speaks Thai with a perfect accent too (sounds just like a Thai toddler). Hilarious. We use pomelo instead of grapefruit for the mocktails...it's a little sweeter, but still tastes good. You are right - everyone is so friendly, warm, and hospitable. They love children. We're so lucky to live here. Samui is great - we took DS there when he was around 4 months old and we had a blast. I love Chaing Rai, Hua Hin, and Krabi too I've been to Malaysia quite a bit for business - probably over 15 times...mostly to KL. We went to Langkawi for vacation once, which was beautiful. Love Malaysian food...I could eat all the Nasi Lemak, beef rendang, roti, satay, char kuey teow noodles...I also love hainanese chicken, although that is more of a Singapore dish. If you are ever back in the area - let me know!

Right there with you. It started this week for me - feeling like my throat is "full" after eating but no pain. I didn't take anything for this with my pregnancy with #1, but I definitely thought it started later in pregnancy... either I'm remembering wrong or this came earlier than expected!

Casa duskymonkey is a disaster now! Not sure if it's nesting but we have multiple renos going on now out of necessity and time. I dread getting our basement started I hope at the end of the yr. Maybe a good project to keep me busy with my feet up drawing up plans for that.

Taitai, so glad you're loving living there. Also dying of cuteness of your son speaking Thai! And you did not say those fruit names! That's something I really really miss. Food I miss but I can cook them in fact we had friends out of town a few wks ago and they haven't had Malaysian food so I made nasi lemak and rendang and it was a big hit 😋 I am bummed though cos I wanted to make satay for DS bday party after the patio is finished. Landscaper predicts mid July but I don't think I'd be in any shape to prep all the food. Even sadder that I won't be able to make his deep sea cake that he wanted 😭. I assume it will be a couple of yrs before I head back home. Maybe before DS starts kindergarten 🤔 So much has changed in a decade in SEA. Even my tiny town now has 2 traffic lights now!

duskymonkey I am sure your DH will understand about the birthday food! You can make celebratory satay and deep sea cake once you get the all clear to come off of bedrest. Will be something to look forward to Also, I don't blame you for putting the trip back to SEA off for a few years. 18+ hours of flying (not including layovers) with little kids is pure hell. It wasn't too bad when DS was a little baby, but ever since he could walk, we now avoid long haul flights like the plague. ETA: tag
