For those of you who have experienced this and/or had friends experience it, how was it discovered? Does your doctor do cervical exams this early or were there other signs that prompted them to check? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk My doc checked my cervix at my AS, which I know is different since that's not the case here. But either way, it was reassuring to me to know that my cervix was doing it's job.

Good morning, I'm just seeing this and I'm so sorry for the scary appointment yesterday! I hope all is going well with your placement and that baby keeps cooking for many many more weeks. Hang in there!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I think they usually check the cervix at the 20 week ultrasound. Otherwise, if you are not high risk I don't think they check unless you have symptoms. For me, since I did have a 17 week D&E procedure, they did check me with transvaginal ultrasound every 2 weeks starting at 16 weeks. If all still looks okay at 20 weeks, they won't check anymore.

Ladies! Appreciate so so much all your good wishes! We left around 6 this morning and just got back a while ago from the hospital just in time to have dinner. It's been a long day and my procedure had to wait a bit cos they were apparently dealing with other emergencies too! Scary, I caught a convo about a someone at 25 wks going into labour. Yikes! Hope all went well with that one. Well I ended up needing 2 stitches and my water bag is right behind the stitches Both Drs are confident that nothing is coming out! Will have a followup appt next Monday or Tuesday to see how it's holding up- still waiting for scheduler to call back - thats the really annoying part about the MFM office and I already called twice.

thatgirlrachel, so sorry if my post scared you. It's commonly routine for them to check your cervix during your first U/S and at your AS if you don't have a history, symptons or any other concerns prompting an incompetent cervix. If your Dr hadn't mentioned anything and if you already had your AS which I believe you did, nothing for you to worry about esp. if you're feeling "normal" with no symptoms. thecatsmeow, I had 0 symptoms as well and no history what so ever so we're not certain what happened. Didn't occur to me to ask yesterday since I was in complete shock and decisions had to be made rather fast yesterday. I will ask at my next appt. though.
