I burp him and then put him down, unless I feel like giving him a little cuddle. But generally he's drowsy but awake.

itsmemeg I keep L upright for a few minutes to try and get a burp, but that's it. +1.

My problem is when I nurse her in the middle of the night I always fall asleep with her on the recliner. I have no clue how to change that. As L has gotten faster at nursing this has gotten better for me. I can usually force myself to stay awakeish enough to get her back down before I really pass out. But if we're up 3+ times, we just sleep in the recliner.

I've started pumping and bottle feeding for night feeds, for a few reasons. He eats faster, which means that I can get us both back to sleep faster. H can feed him if he's up. And I find that he sleeps better after having a bottle. I'm pretty sure the lactation consultant doesn't agree with it, but sleep is precious. I need all I can get.

I find myself on my phone during MOTN nursing then I can’t go back to sleep easily. But I’m afraid if I don’t have the distraction I’ll fall asleep holding her and I just nurse her in my bed.
Also, I don’t usually change her diaper anymore MOTN bc she hasn’t pooped in a long time overnight. I did tonight though bc I couldn’t tell if she was dirty or not. She hasn’t pooped and was pissed I was unswaddling her and changing her. Learned that lesson

If it works for you guys that’s all that matters. And as long as your pumping to make up that nursing session it’s fine bc your supply will keep up.

We're still working to get my supply up because of his poor suction in the beginning so I would never completely skip stimulating milk production :-)

Ugh. Some nights it is so good. DD loves being held to sleep as soon as you put her down she fusses and wakes up. Last night was one of those wanting to be held all night.

I’m hoping that he stops pooping as much and sleeps longer stretches!

It’s started smelling too but my pedi is not concerned. Ugh, what happened to the sweet BF poop? I wonder if it’s something that I’m eating.

Often it’s watery with ‘stringy’ bits. But she’s not gassy, upset or getting a rash. It smells more too. Weird or normal? Anyone have experience with dairy intolerance? Could it be that?

They say mucous in poop is a sign of a food sensitivity. I’ve been dairy free for over a month now and E still has mucous in her poop. I watch my soy as well (like real soy not soy lecithin, etc). So I don’t know why she still has mucous poop and hers is more watery than I think it should be. It’s also orange/mustard yellow but mostly orange. Green poop is also a sign of a food sensitivity

My pediatrician told me that green can also be a sign or foremilk overproduction. This can happen if your baby is a) not eating long enough to get to the fatty milk or b) your body is over producing.

Unfortunately concentrating on feeding only on one side till I’m totally empty hasn’t helped and in the last few days she developed other symptoms of dairy intolerance such as spots on her skin, dry patches and recurring nappy rash that isn’t a typical type. The watery nappies certainly made me think dairy. The more I read about it the more it fits, especially given she started with bad reflux as a newborn which I immediately thought was odd. I’m so sad if it is an intolerance, such a burden for her. We’ll get her tested ASAP and see what comes of it.

L has a dairy intolerance. His poop was always watery, he had constant diarrhea. He also had projectile vomiting and severe eczema. I think green usually means an imbalance with foremilk and hindmilk.

For my doctor at least, they don't really test unless there is blood in the stool or a suspected allergy. L had mucous in the poop, but they didn't want to test for microscopic blood until we ruled out intolerance. For a suspected intolerance, I had to cut dairy for two weeks to see if symptoms improved, which they have dramatically, so I'm KOKO with no dairy and we're still monitoring for an allergy. I don't know if there is correlation between intolerance as an infant and then later in life, so it may not be a forever thing. I hope she doesn't have an intolerance, but if she does you're not alone!
