DD had her one month appointment. She is 8, 13oz. Up from 7, 13 two weeks ago. Her doctor heard a heart murmur so we have to get it checked out.
So as soon as we lay DD don’t to sleep she grunts and fusses. I get worried that it keeps DH up when he had work. She is really loud.

beersandweirs I’m confused now about the dairy thing. My dr took stool samples of W today so I’ll know on Monday if she has any inflammation. It wasn’t an allergy test though. And she told me because W is settled and gaining eight well I shouldn’t cut out dairy until we know it’s that. So now I’m confused: do I cut it out anyway in case she’s uncomfortable while we’re waiting, or do I not cut it out so I don’t mess with anything unnecessarily that might throw off my supply or her tummy? I’m thinking I’ll just cut it out and see what happens while I’m waiting for the results? It’s not going to hurt to cut it. But just know it can take 2-3 weeks to leave your system and hers. Also FWIW, E had her stool tested too but came back negative for blood. But she still definitely has an issue w dairy. The stool test is not definitive but it’s really the only test they do for babies for food intolerances .

I was thinking I would just cut it and see if it makes a difference. Maybe I'll give his doctor a call today and see what they think.

This is timely. My pedi is super quick to cut out dairy. It's her go-to with any feeding issues. I cut it out from weeks 1-8, but then added it back in after her two month appointment when she was put on reflux meds (as needed). DD's symptoms during this time period were projectile vomiting, wet hiccups, and eczema. While cutting dairy, her rash and the vomiting went away, but she still had terrible hiccups and seemed to be almost choking on them. Our pedi witnessed it and said she thought it was more of a reflux issue, not dairy.
Since eating dairy again, I've noticed her cheeks have broken out again. Her diapers are fine, weight gain is fine, and she sleeps well. I just can't get her skin to stay clear. I'm going to cut it out for now. I've read conflicting information about it, but I feel guilty every time I see her cheeks.

I keep trying unswaddled naps and they do not go well. I’m getting worried for daycare even though it’s a month away.

H and I might be going to look at a house this weekend. We had been talking about moving in the spring. Am I crazy to move voluntarily with a smaller baby?

I’m thinking I’ll just cut it out and see what happens while I’m waiting for the results? My doctors were much less concerned than I was because L is a big kid who is packing on weight like a champ, and he's generally a really happy and content baby and sleeps well. However, I couldn't handle watching my kid projectile vomit and be in pain every time I fed him. Because I was so adamant that something was wrong, the doctors agreed that cutting back wouldn't hurt anything. His severe eczema was the only thing that really concerned them, and that's cleared up significantly since I've been off of dairy. I just make sure to give him the vitamin D drops. I think if you think it will help, to go for it. Unless there's something I'm not considering, I don't think it would hurt anything to try it. Anecdotal, but I've had no effect on my supply since quitting dairy.

I'm doing an experiment today. When I was pumping last night I didn't get much at all. The night before I almost had too much for the bottle. I had had a beer with supper. So when I was out today I picked up a Guinness. It'll be interesting to see if it makes a difference.

The lactation consultant told me that too, but even if it's a placebo, more milk for baby isn't a bad thing

Soo, does anyone else forget their baby's name? I keep forgetting Fs name. Like not even calling him something else, straight up drawing a blank. I know it's likely lack of sleep, but I just wanna Gibbs slap myself every time.

H is slightly annoyed I am going to give up dairy. I know it's going to make dinners and communal things more hard, but I wouldn't do it if I didn't think it might help. I think he thinks I'm being overly concerned because DS is way easier and happier than DD was when I tried giving it up for her, so I don't think he thinks it's necessary.
He's not an asshole, just being kind of rude about this and I'm venting.

beersandweirs I’m worried foregoing dairy will be hard for me because H doesn’t eat wheat. Like, what’s left?

Giving up dairy is hard. Sometimes DH and DS eat something different from me but we try not to do that. Lunches when I’m home alone is the hardest bc i need quick and most things to be dairy free requires cooking

I know every state & daycare is different but most don’t allow blankets before 12 mo but you can do like a sleep sack since it’s like “clothing”. I’ve worked in daycare a long time that’s the only reason I ask.

I call DD2 as DD1 or the cat all the time, lol. The same thing happened with DD1 when she was born, it takes a while for your brain to add another name into the usual daily mix 😂

I spent so many weeks trying to get DS to nap without a swaddle at home I almost went insane I’m definitely not going to let him lose too much sleep in the process but I need to find a happy medium. I can’t just let daycare figure it out and then deal with the evening/overnight consequences of a baby who didn’t sleep all day while still having to go to work in the morning. I just ordered a Merlin sleep suit to possibly use as a transition.

I’ve been stuck at the same weight for a few weeks and could t figure out why it’s not budging. I’ve been busting my ass exercising and moving since I was cleared to.
Today I decided to write down what I was eating. Welllllll that explained a lot.

lemons, DD is a Zipadee Zip fan. She didn't ever really like being swaddled once she was more than a couple weeks old. It helps with the startle reflex but doesn't completely stop it. Also, solidarity LT for out of control eating. Except I haven't really started exercising yet since sleep has been hit or miss.

My mom and I took a wander today up to downtown to check out a multicultural festival. While we were there, they had a booth set up from the province, asking people to write down what it means to you. They were asking if people wanted to then record it for a commercial and a chance to win a glamping trip. I said okay, and asked if I could bring F in with me, which they got really excited about. And then they also asked me an additional question about why I was happy to raise him here, and they really liked my answer. So there's a good chance F and I will be on a commercial in the near future :-)

DS1 was diagnosed with what they suspect is hand, foot, & mouth. Send wine my way but more importantly send good thoughts that DS2 doesn’t get it. It’s gonna be a long week/weeks 😫
