tinyjoys there's already a good chance we're OAD, especially if H gets his way (he wants to get snipped). And after the cholestasis and the trauma of Fs birth, I'm leaning towards agreeing.

I'm going to guess people are referring to the functioning on zero sleep with newborns because that's the hard part. Also if they scream for hours on end and you have no clue why. That's hard. Maybe I have less trouble because I have nothing else to do and I'm a good napper? Lol

I'm definitely expecting him to get worse. If he's like how he was in my belly, and especially if he takes after his dad, he's going to be wild. But I keep hearing how the newborn phase is "so hard" and I'm like "I don't get it?" Lol This is very baby dependent and person dependent. V was a tough baby and we never slept, which was very hard. He had to be held all night for the first month or so, and then never slept through the night until after his 2nd bday, and was usually up several times a night. L on the other hand is super content. He sits in the swing or RnP and just smiles at you. I can put him down for bed awake and he’ll just sit and look around until he falls asleep. He’s 8 weeks today, and sleeps through the night more often than my 3 year old. If I’d had him first, I would have thought all babies were a breeze.

Speedy, totally person dependent. I have horrible, painful pregnancies & I already want to do it again. OB & H both say NOPENOPENOPE octopus. I guess my hemorrhaging during delivery & OB having a ton of issues getting me stitched scared both of them.

Also, my middle didn’t hit no limit status until around 18 months. She turned 3 in May. False senses all around.

kiri (answering your question in here) I'm trying to do self care. I can start exercising next week, so I'm going to focus on getting back in shape. I've also bought afew clothing items for the in between so I don't feel awful about my bodyin this transition time. Thankfully my H is always encouraging me to do more for myself.

I also think I handle lack of sleep worse than the average person. Like one or two bad nights and I'm an emotional mess. I just know that about myself now.

Speedy in my experience every kid has something that is tough with them. My kid wasa great sleeper pretty early, but then started the witching hour at about a month old. Hour or two of crying for no reason, but not colic. He's the sweetest kid now (3 later this month) but we have speech issues. I say enjoy things while they're easy and take things one day at a time when they're tough.

I have to admit that getting back into exercising was a bit of a downer given how hard I’ll have to work to get back to where I was...hopefully you don’t have the same experience. Hope that you enjoy your new outfits!

But I keep hearing how the newborn phase is "so hard" and I'm like "I don't get it?" Lol That’s a pretty common thing to say for first time moms with newborns. The first 2weeks-ish all they do is sleep and eat, which is easy to handle, yes, if the baby does not have reflux or other tummy issues. My first was like that. As they get older, they have more awaken time and that’s when it gets tricky because they get overtired and get harder to settle down. So enjoy it while it lasts, really. Once he wakes up, you will treasure his real newborn days !

I am a sleeper, I need my beauty rest. And I can get very irritated to be the default parent 99% of the time while H sleeps happily through everything. It is easier this time, mainly emotionally, because I can anticipate my reaction.

So you might be used to sleep at randoms hours with night shifts and all, and used to falling asleep easier and anywhere. I know my cousins who are nurses had an easier time with sleep deprivation than me and they are good nappers too.

PDQ DS2 was born at noon today after 7 hrs of labor. He was born in a tub, which is what I was aiming for. He's a whooping 9lb 6oz and 22" long! He's been on the boob practically nonstop. MH just left with the kids. DS(14) was a big curmudgeon, nothing new, and DD was super excited

I know my cousins who are nurses had an easier time with sleep deprivation than me and they are good nappers too. I'm actually a care worker in a nursing home so I always worked the same shifts, and I've been doing early mornings for like 6 years (I would get up at like 5:30). But my sleep was all over the place when I wasn't working. Sometimes if I was caught up with something I'd be up until 2 or 3 and sleep until the late morning or early afternoon, and then reset my sleep for work. Not exactly healthy, but my brain refuses to follow a schedule for very long (I'm fairly certain that I'm ADHD)

I brought Gem to the pediatrician today because she has had a weird rash for a week now ... they said her rash isn’t anything to worry about and will clear up on its own but they did find she has an ear infection. She hasn’t had a fever or anything :/ ... our pedi had one of the other ones in the office double check because she’s so little and they didn’t want to unnecessarily give her antibiotics but sure enough she has one. Poor babe Aw poor babe. Crazy she has an ear infection already! Hope she feels better soon

mrsweasley you did it just like you had hoped! Congrats! He’s worth the wait. Yes I hate when you know trying to sleep is pointless when they’ll be in to wake you up soon anyway. Enjoy new baby snuggles.
