dizzycooks, have you gotten the diagnosis for your DD3 confirmed yet? Wow on the potty-training, btw!! I've started to hint at DD3 that maybe she could start using the potty (as soon as she poops she comes and wants us to change her diaper, so she knows what's going on). The other day we had this conversation as we were walking upstairs to the changing table: Me: DD3, maybe you could start using the potty like a big girl! DD3: No. Me: But your sisters use the potty. DD3: DD1, potty. DD2, potty. Mama, potty. Papa, potty. DD3 - no. Ha! Glad that's cleared up. But really, I love diapers and am cool with this taking a while longer. No way would I start before our trip the US in a few weeks anyway. But when we come back we'll get out the potty chair and see how it goes. I'm pretty sure she'll be like DD2 who just up and decided one day that she was *not* wearing diapers anymore and had maybe a couple accidents and then that was that.

I'm going to start cracking down in potty training when we get back from camping in a couple of weeks. Gonna make a sticker chart and try bribery.

crimsonandclover we have confirmed JIA. Currently that means cortisone as need (every 4-6 months), monthly rheumatology appts, and quarterly eye appointment plus pediatric check ins for growth. The potty training at night was totally by chance. I got lucky 😂

crimsonandclover your dd3 is hilarious. That statement would crack me up! My dh starts a new job on the first. It involves gravel which should be interesting. His first trip is on the 4th for 4 days. I’m trying not to overthink it, but we also need to get serious about moving and my words to him the other night we’re “I feel like I’m drowning”....so I’m clearly doing great!

crimsonandclover I was wondering if you’d be headed to this side of the pond soon!! 😊 dd3 cracks me up. Sound like my dd2 when it comes to potty training too though we are finally making some small strides. dizzycooks congrats on the baptism! I hope you get some rest now. And kudos to dd3 on potty training at night!! That’s incredible! Dd3 is doing the best if we just keep her naked around the house. She’s figuring it out but only with lots of incentive (I.e. sugar) 😳

dizzycooks , we went back last year, too. And yes, the kids are already counting down the days! The first week is always just getting over jet lag, during the last week there will be a family gathering, and otherwise we've planned a couple of little excursions to water parks / zoos in the area. Plus all of the regular not-so-fun stuff that needs to get done when we're back like finally getting my mom on my credit card, buying clothes for the kiddos, renewing my library card, etc.
ETA: Oh, and dizzycooks, for the first time I'll be flying through your home state. We're flying there from Amsterdam and then it's about a 1 - 1.5 hr flight to our final destination. I've never gone through customs there, so it'll be a new experience

I told S to get ready for bed, and I'm pretty sure he wasn't listening, because instead of brushing his teeth and using the bathroom, he just went straight to bed.

crimsonandclover I’ve never had a problem, but don’t have a lot to compare it too. I wish we could meet up!

dizzycooks, it occurred to me that we could meet up, but the layover is just under 4 hours, which should be a comfortable amount of time to get through immigration and customs, change terminals, go through security, and go to the gate for the next flight. Coming from international it's definitely not enough to leave the airport :/ I almost always fly through Chicago or Atlanta as my first point of arrival, so I'll let you know in a few weeks whether this was any better!

I'm loving getting more hours at work, but holy crap do I need to wear better shoes for long shifts. Yesterday was 7 hours, today was 6, and my feet are killing me. Concrete floor + not so great shoes.

I managed to lock my family out of the house last night 🤦♀️ we were running a quick errand right before dd bedtime..... she didn’t get to sleep until 11 because he whole thing took so long to get a locksmith etc.
I am now taking dd for a drive if I want to get her to nap, lol. Good times.

I picked the wrong week for a cleaning spree. It's been above 30°C since like Saturday. It is way too hot in here to be running the dishwasher, dryer, and scrubbing. But there's a new babysitter coming tomorrow evening, and I'd rather her not see the mess we usually live with. Plus we're going to camp next week and I'd rather come home and only have to deal with the camping mess.

And to be a total PW.... tinydancer - how are you doing?? How’s the sweet babe? How are you and the rest of the family adjusting to the new addition? Thinking of you and hope you are well! Thanks for checking in guys, sorry I've been absent. The transition from 1 to 2 kids is...tough. I remember you all posting about that back with our J16 babies, but it's one of those things that I think you can't really understand until you're in it. (But don't worry @kelltothekell, it gets easier, I'm told!) Fortunately, the littlest is a really, really great baby so far. She sleeps well, she eats well, and she's generally pretty happy. It's just juggling the two that's hard. MH went out of town for a couple weeks last month and managing bedtime was tricky. This month we've started leaving the toddler at preschool for aftercare, so he naps there now and I pick him up around 3. That helps tremendously! I felt guilty about leaving him there since I'm home on leave now, but it just makes everything easier.

I always looked at it as a way to get 1 on 1 time with the new baby just like you had with your first! 😘
