Slight issue found at our anatomy scan this morning (so much for no surprises). Baby's kidney's are slightly enlarged so will need to be monitored closely. The doc reassured that the issue could resolve itself before the baby is born or early in life. Worst case scenario is that baby would need surgery to correct the problem if there is one. I'm glad to know the issue is mild and won't be life threatening but we have just been through so much already I really just wanted a perfect scan so I wouldn't have to worry. But now I have to worry the rest of pregnancy and until the problem is resolved.

AYA - After Your Appointment
How was it? Good! Short and simple like I assumed it would be. We had a different midwife covering for ours today because our midwife was at a birth overnight. Baby is super uncooperative with the Doppler haha, you can actually hear it moving away as they try to capture heartbeat. Last time it wouldn't stay still enough for the Doppler to get a measurement but the midwife was fine with that. We did manage to get it today, but as soon as she put the wand on my belly baby immediately moved way up and to the side, it was kinda funny!
Learn anything new? Not really. They are going to re check my haemoglobin because I ended up on iron supplements with DD and have had issues numerous times over the years. I also got the requisition for my glucose test to do before my next appointment. I also confirmed that they will give me an oxytocin shot post delivery to manage bleeding as my bleeding with DD was deemed excessive (not a hemorrhage but more than normal). I was pretty sure my midwife mentioned it last time but I couldn't remember for sure
New feels/vents/etc.? Nothing!
When is your next appointment? Regular midwife appointment on July 13. I'll do the glucose test the week before that but just at the lab

kinipela7 crap, I'm sorry for the news. I friend of mine had the same findings at her AS and everything resolved itself and baby is perfectly healthy now. Hang in there!

We were told that it's pretty common with boys (not sure if that's what you're having or not) and MFM explained things in a comforting way. Prayers that your baby's resolves quickly!

kinipela7 So sorry to hear about the enlarged kidneys. I hope the issue will resolve itself before baby arrives. Like what mommabakes said, I've also heard about this issue is relatively common among boys...I think one of my nephews had it. Also resolved before birth. The stress is still horrible to deal with while pregnant though - hang in there!

kinipela7, just saw this, sending you lots of hope it will resolve by itself. I think an M14 mom on the other board has had a similar issue? I think I am not too certain what it is but her M14 or one after that had some kidney issue.

kinipela7, sorry just seeing this! My DS (now 3.5) had bilateral hydronephrosis that was discovered at his anatomy scan. Much anxiety over it, they did another ultrasound when he was a few days old, it was still there but not worse. They had us repeat the ultrasound every 6 months from then on. By about 18 months IIRC, one side had totally cleared up, the other side was a little better but not completely. They dropped us to once per year after that. His next one is Friday, so FX it has cleared up. Anyway, for us it turned out to be NBD, but they warned us too it could mean surgery if it gets worse. That said, it's a fairly simple surgery (as surgeries go) and as long as it's not causing any problems, they'll leave it alone. I hope it does clear up, but if not don't worry too much. Keep an eye out after baby's born for symptoms of a UTI which can be more common in kiddos with dilated kidneys.

@bootsorhearts - thanks for sharing that! It does seem like not a huge huge deal but the stress of it is just about killing me. The waiting and not knowing! I'm glad your DS is doing fine - good luck at the scan this week! Fingers crossed it is gone!
