TBF, George did name his son Fred. But there were a lot of options. Like Remus for instance. Or hell, come up with his own name. Not everyone has to be named after someone Yes. Or Sirius, the guy who spent years in azkaban for trying to go after the guy who betrayed his parents. But also yes, a little originality would have sufficed over greaseball and dumblejerk 😂 miawallace I'm totally using your names now He did use Sirius, as a middle name of his first born. James Sirius Potter, who lives up to his namesakes if I remember correctly. Harry probably wanted to use them both in case there was never another son. Then AL came and he was like, WTF do I use now.... Albus Severus, that sounds good. Hope the kid doesn't hate me!

Albus Severus was a riot in the Crused Chikd. Not surprised. Lol Cursed Child sucked. IT was like a really really bad fanfic. I refuse to see that as canon.

He could have had a James and a Sirius. And McGonagall would have cried. And retired the day those kids showed up to be sorted. ETA: I forgot that the first kid was James Sirius. You know she peaced out. A kid named after two Marauders that is also half Weasley.

It truly was bad fanfic, right down to Voldemort has a secret daughter TEEHEEHEE. Just missing Harry's long lost twin sister Harriet and the beautiful A+++ student who is perfect at all the subjects and plays seeker for Albus to fall in love with.

Have not, will not read the Cursed Child. I read the summary on Wikipedia and that was bad enough.

Im always angry at the fact that basically the only person to give anything to Harry about his parents was Hagrid an the photo album. Like thats who he should have named his kid after. Im always sad when he doesnt get real recognition in fics. Its not a deal breaker but it hits me. Albus knew them and he should have told Harry about them. Made me think of this.

Regarding this, I saw some theory somewhere that while he was teaching potions, he did teach them his improvements. Something about how he always said the instructions were on the blackboard and never had them use their books. I haven't done a reread since seeing that, so I'll have to pay attention when I do. Obviously not an excuse for being an abusive teacher.

Because HBP was when Slughorn was teaching and Harry all of a sudden became a potions superstar and everyone else who followed the regular Instructions from the books were not as good

Rowling was a wizard tying things together I'm convinced she is. There was a meme that circulated awhile ago about how Rowling is really Rita Skeeter and since Hermione put an end to her writing in the wizarding world, she wrote about HP and sold it as fiction to Muggles.

At least when he was trying to out Remus.

I haven't read the books in a couple of years because I haven't had time to sit down and just read the way I know I'll want to.

The only reason why I can't swallow the Rita and Jk "theory" is that Jk wrote Rita's character in a very unflattering way. I don't think Rita's ego would allow that.
Maybe Jk is Dumbledore and Dumbledore is trhing to put himself in a good light? Or maybe I'm really high at the moment and imagining all the possibilities.

I am in the middle of rereading the series for the 2363746474 times. I am halfway through half blood prince which is my favorite. I own the cursed child but have not read it so I don’t know who it’s about.
However JK Rowling missed a huge opportunity for a new series based on Albus Severus. I was reading something and they pointed out that his initials spell ASP which is a type of snake. They could have created a whole new series and put him in slytherin house. The story possibilities are endless.
Also I haven’t read any fan fic or researched this so someone else could have brought this up. Also Dumbledore is indeed an asshat.

He's in Slytherin. And it's still terrible.
