Fox appears to have turned on Pruitt, so maybe the mattress was the final straw.

Have we talked about this? Senate approved a resolution allowing the Intel committee to work with DOJ on a pending investigation, and committee is cooperating, per Burr and Warner. I have no idea what to do with this. It could potentially be yuuuuge or it could be some nonsense like SSCI have run out of Dixon Ticonderoga no 2 pencils and maxed out their budget Well they better not ask Betsy for any pencils. Because she expects taxpayers to supply those.

Joe Hagin is leaving after the summit.
He was H.W. Bush's Charlie and W's Josh. He's practically part of the furniture. And he was one of the last people who knows WTF they are doing.

I take the Speaker's point that Trump will never sign it, but with that many Republican cosponsors I wonder if they could eek out a veto proof majority. It's red States that are getting hit the hardest.

I don't NFL so Malcolm Jenkins has been totally off my radar but he is an American hero. Bless him for using his platform.

Rep Kennedy r-la was asked about how he felt about Canada burning the White House. He came back with everybody knows it was the Russians. It was pretty funny

Here’s an amazing tweet/gif of Trump and Pence.
Why is Pence moving his water bottle for no reason? 😂

Thoughts on the Persky recall?
On the one hand, see you never, asshole. How about we have consequences for sexual violence? Kthanksbai.
On the other hand, judicial independence, but then it's an elected office anyway so that's not really an option.
Am I searching for two sides in something that really is clear and obvious?

I see where you're coming from, but for this one guy I'm ok with leaving it at "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out." On the one hand I like being able to remove a judge who is clearly not doing his job. On the other, a judge seems like a strange position to leave open to... anyone... you know?

I'm almost MORE comfortable to a degree with elected judges at local and state levels. Lifetime appointments bother me. If its a truly bad judge there needs to be a way to remove them. as an aside our local judges are elected and NEVER have an opponent. you are basically just confirming on the ballot you're ok because even if you arent there isnt anyone running to replace

I think what is missing in the dialogue about Persky (not here, but in a broader sense) is that it is not just about the Brock Turner case. He has a history of going easy on abuse and sexual assault perpetrators. Turner's rape case got a lot of national attention and that sentence was rightfully ridiculed, but it also turned a spotlight on the judge and his history on the bench. Turner was the catalyst here, but I don't think it's the sole reason for the recall. It might be why a lot of people voted for the recall and I'm okay with that, in this case, though. This guy has no business being a judge. ETA: From a site dedicated to his recall: www.recallaaronpersky.com/judge_persky_s_other_cases

I do feel like lifetime appointments are problematic. I remember hearing about a push to limit the Supreme Court Justices to terms of something like 18 years, but I don't think that will ever get off the ground.
Of course, I also don't ever want RBG to leave the bench. So, there's that.

Does this imply he doesn't think the summit will be successful? That he's tired of this BS? Or is he just retiring, b/c he's been doing this for a long ass time and maybe he thinks this will be his crowning achievement? The latter. And he wants Gina Haspel's old job.

President Crybaby doesn't want to go to the G-7 Summit because he doesn't want to be lectured by our allies.
I hope they hand him his ass.

The G7 is going to be tense bc Merkel and Macron are PISSED at Canada for building a new pipeline. The focus is supposedly going to be on environmental issues. If they're mad at Trudeau, imagine what they think of Trump.

I really hope the Caps win tonight so we get a pic of pTrump with Ovechkin I hope they win tonight too, but my ILs will get tickets to the next game in DC if it makes it that far, and they are such die hard fans/season ticket holders that I almost hope they get the chance to see the game.
