IG. She posted pictures on her story from a costume party where her friends were dressed up as Native Americans (in full face paint) and there were mock war cries involved. Now this makes sense in the context of outing someone. She also admitted she did it. She didn't really try to mount a defense, just that she shouldn't have posted those pictures but her friends really are good people and not racists....

Not for nothing but if they were coming over here all worked up that I didn't see what they saw in that thread maybe they re read it and got mad all over again. There were more posters in that thread that were saying she is not a racist than saying she was. Just saying maybe you need to check your people and get a consensus then come over here trying to tell people what they need to think. Who? Where? What? Context clues, mcbenny!

I'm actually more pissed about the PPD comment than I am about the fact that she's a dumb cunt that can't get her facts straight.

Since this thread was drug up, I will say that I am glad out of this bullshit--we settled on a clear set of expectations on calling out racism on this board.
This will sound trite, but I was v uncomfortable with thisbitch's behavior after her shitty statements. I was upset that she gave lip service and then came back posting about facial masks like nothing happened. I felt like beyond her racist statements and obvious gaslighting, it was disrespectful to the people she hurt to not pretend it never happened.
I wanted to bring it up and not her skate by, but I was unsure if it was acceptable or would cause more pain for the people she hurt.So I just kept quiet and side-eyed from behind my computer.
That won't happen again.

I was wondering why they (GBCNers) were over here fighting the great fight about booby being racist when in the thread THEY gave as exhibit 1 there was not a consensus on their own board.

I tried to make an account. Under my real SN. So I could respond her her heinous post. But it's "pending staff approval." I am not holding my breath. She's too much of a coward. She would rather just keep talking to herself in her echo chamber of nonsense.

Since the thread was brought back to life, I'm letting you know one of the regs from gbcn was outed as racist, and they ripped her a new asshole. I should proof read before posting, are was supposed to say ate How do you out someone as a racist? Blow their KKK membership? Take pics of their house with white supremacy signs?
I am being a little sarcastic
Cowboys and Indians, complete with headdress and and the calling sounds. I reply to sarcasm too lol.

I do want to say something that I have been talking about with a friend - bear with me cause these are random thoughts -
I feel true racism (belief a race is superior) is in the heart.
I feel what is more common might be ignorance to things like microaggressions especially when you haven't had to face that. I know POC that miss these things too so how hard can I come at a white person who misses them?
How and when do I give someone room to learn something? Is this shown with their reaction? Digging in? Or listening?
I feel all of us have a little prejudices and things to learn about other races.

I have been thinking about this too because I know coming from a background that is white and privileged, I do and say problematic things. I like to think I am not a racist at heart, I mean well, and I am learning. I don't expect any grace. At the end of the day, none problematic words, actions, or thoughts are acceptable--regardless of intent or upbringing. And no one is expected to forgive me, teach me, or even give me a chance to do better. However, I do think it is easier to give grace on these kinds of things when the person is actually open to learning, does not dig in, and seems sincere. I think maybe thisbitch could have come back from her comments (in my eyes--again, no one is by any means obligated to give her another chance after that shit) if she hadn't behaved the way she subsequently did.

I rarely meet people that I feel are racist. I feel we can all have some racial insensitivities.
I also feel people here have made extending grace giving someone a pass. That's not what it means to me.
I admit to not reading what she said when she came back. I don't know how bad it was or was not.
The racists I have come in contact with are not trying to learn anything, hear anything, change anything. I just don't feel I have saw that on the board.
Again, I did not read what thisbitch said after in totality.

Honest mistakes do come from ignorance and lack of awareness. I extend some grace for that. I’m tired though and have very little grace to give these days. And this is also where my thoughts come from - some days I can be patient and explain but some days I am tired and exhausted and I have nothing to give

However TB's comments though weren't simply prejudiced or stereotyping . She wasn't saying some shit like "white girls like Hootie." ( I am old and I can't think of the modern equivalent of this) She was saying that she inherently thinks there is a way to act a certain race. And the way to act that race is to be articulate, smart, professional, polished... The opposite of that is the way that you act if you are not that race. That's pretty fucked.

McBenny , I am in the other side of this so let me share a different viewpoint. There are ppl running for office in my state who sincerely believe and run on a platform that most Hispanic people should be sent away, cops have never been at fault in any shooting of an unarmed black persons, and that all Muslims are isis. I just don’t know how to find any common ground with any of that when it all starts with a premise of some group being less than worthy. I get that. For me those lines are clear.
I was speaking to here and this group and when someone has to be told about this and that or misses something.
My comments are also about what can I do or not, what can I add or not, what is my role. I am looking within.
I am also saying that to clarify that I am not speaking to what anyone else should do or not. Not saying you are saying that. I just want to be clear.

I have just been thinking about what my role is in it all here.

I listened to a podcast talking about how people are more likely to do something terrible after seeing someone else doing something terrible and not facing any consequences for it. So I am afraid with Trump in office, things are going to be worse for a while before getting better.

There is part of this thought process that I relate to--actually, probably relate isn't a good word, but recognize from the environment that I was raised in. I have talked about the METCO program in my school which I believe is based on the idea that the kids are better off because they are going to white schools and being surrounded by white culture. Or how when you live these privileged bubbles--especially in the North--you think racism is in the past. Everyone should be colorblind. I believe I came from a well meaning--albeit harmful--perspective. I assume this is where thisbitch was coming from also. But when you get to a point that you refuse to let that version of reality go, that's where *I* think you are not coming back from that. You are not going to grow or change. And you are a racist at heart.

It was one post but I support protecting your sanity. I disengage strategically. I just have to do it for my own well-being because I am constantly pissed and it’s not good for my high blood pressure. I will read it but it's bumped down in priority for me cause she peaced out etc etc.

I think there is a group of white people who are relieved that it is more socially acceptable to say/do fucking awful things. They are thinking "Finally, someone is saying it." Their racism was always there, but they had to be slicker about it before. And I did not realize before Trump how large this group is.
