I’m going to put in a jolse order soon, and I think I’m going to start hunting for something that could replace my Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum. I’ve been addicted to that stuff for so long, and I really love it, but the price bothers me. Anyone here have a first/prep essence that you really like? I’ve tried Misha’s Time Revolution The First Treatment, as well as Secret Key’s Starting Treatment Essence, but they’re just so-so for me. Not like the Sulwhasoo I love.

My friend is living in Seoul right now and is coming home for a visit and offered to bring me cosmetics or whatever. It’s overwhelming 😆 do any of you have any top pics you would ask for?

Oooh - how nice of your friend to offer! So, you can get pretty much everything from South Korea via Jolse or other online outlets, but if your friend doesn’t mind bringing some stuff…I would say that you can get better deals on the higher-end brands if she buys them in South Korea (particularly if she can easily get them via duty free). I love anything Sulwhasoo, but it can get super pricey. Another idea is to ask her to get you sheet masks or whatever seems fun and trendy from the more mainstream brands, like Etude House, Innisfree, and Laneige. Are there any skincare goals you have or things you’d like to work on? That can help narrow products down too.

I like the masks/something trendy idea as well. Thanks for your thoughts as always! I guess my skincare goals are evening out tone, increasing hydration as the air is dry here.

You can’t go wrong with Sulwhasoo - I still am so addicted to the first care activating serum and I wish I wasn’t. If you are looking for hydration, I would say that doing a “7 skins” type thing, where you get a hydrating toner and layer it on 7 times, might be a good idea. Innisfree and Etude house have hydrating HA toners which could be an economic option, since using all of that toner up can make you go through product quickly. I feel like skinfood also makes a nice hydrating toner…the cucumber lettuce water one if I am remembering correctly. It’s available at any grocery or drug store in Korea.
