Just popping in to report that I picked up some awesome KAO Japanese Steam eye masks for super cheap the other day. There was a good sale and I got them for about $1 per mask, which is better than Amazon, so yay!!! In addition to the lavender ones that I normally buy, they had Yuzu and green tea. Going to try the yuzu one tonight and see how I like it. Will report back. Quoting myself...I love the masks. I've used them twice this week and they are so relaxing. I put one on and I fall asleep so quickly! I need to pace my use or they will be all gone too soon.

Taitai do you have a recommendation for a good blackhead mask? I have a little over $10 left to spend on myself after I buy a new hair milk.

Taitai do you have a recommendation for a good blackhead mask? I have a little over $10 left to spend on myself after I buy a new hair milk. I like to use a good clay mask to bring blackheads to the surface. One of my favs is the skinfood egg white pore mask. It's around $10, and I always have some on hand. Gets deep into my pores to remove the oil/clogs. theskinfood.us/products/egg-white-pore-maskAlso, if you are trying to minimize blackheads/pores/sebaceous filaments, try below post from fifty shades of snail. I use her method and the pores on my nose and cheekbones are noticeably better - not as clogged for sure. fiftyshadesofsnail.com/2015/03/28/how-to-shrink-pores-temporarily-plus-3-pore-myths/Hope this helps!

That's funny because I just read that article earlier. I got the oil cleanser you recommended and since it was all in Japanese I just used it like I would a regular face wash. I realized while rereading this thread today that I was doing it all wrong. I looked up how to oil cleanse and that article was the first to pop up. Thanks for the product recommendation, into the cart it goes!

I just started to look into K-beauty too.
The little book of skin care : Korean beauty secrets for healthy, glowing skin by Charlotte Cho is book I just borrowed from the library. The author is from Soko Glam, a K-beauty website. It gives good info and some product recs. Pinterest has some good links if you search for it. I search popular cosmetic stores' websites - Ulta and Sephora both have K beauty sections, I think, and I read the reviews. I also just started subscribing to Mishibox and Bomibag. (Reviews for previous boxes can be found on mysubscriptionaddiction.com)

Definitely a pleasant surprise that they have stuff like My Beauty Diary Sheet masks and Missha stuff. The Missha time revolution first treatment Essence is solid and much cheaper than the comparable product from SKII. 👍

I’m falling down the rabbit hole of Asian skincare! I’m going to start building a routine as I replace products I run out of (if that makes sense?), and I had some questions, of you don’t mind me picking your brains 😊
I was wondering if you can use rose hip seed oil for the oil cleanser part of the double cleanse, or should I go with an oil cleanser like KOSE softymo and add a few drops of the rose hip seed oil? I have acne prone skin
Can I start double cleansing every night right away, or is that something I should build up to?
Any good recommendations for an eye cream and a moisturizer? Should I do a separate day moisturizer and a night moisturizer?
I already have a few of The Ordinary products, so I figured I could use those for my actives, or serums in the routine.

Taitai thisbitch and anyone else. I’m ordering the Banila clean it zero purity cleanser and I already use Cetaphil for my face wash. I use CeraVe PM for my moisturizer. My skin type: fair skin, sensitive, combination skin with oily T-zone, cystic acne on chin and get red around my nostrils. I’m looking for a good vitamin C serum. I’m currently pregnant so I want to avoid any potentially harmful toxins/chemicals. In the past I’ve used (and still have some left) VIDI Vitamin C serum 20%, it contains vitamins c,e,a, alpha and beta hydroxy acids and matrixyl synthe 6 peptides. I stopped using it when I got pregnant because wasn’t sure if it was safe. And i also would love a good eye cream specifically for tired eyes and anti aging. If i can use something on my neck too that would be a bonus. Sorry so long!!

I have very sensitive skin and this does not irritated at all.

Sorry I missed your post! Definitely come in here and ask questions - I love chatting about this stuff. Okay, so a lot of people like rose hip oil and I think it is a great thing to add to your skincare routine. However, I wouldn't use it as an oil cleanser, just because it probably will not emulsify well (as in, break up and rinse away when it comes into contact with water). As you have acne prone skin, I would definitely use a designated oil cleanser, like softymo or Banila Clear it Zero. You can start double cleansing right away, imo - no need to work up to it. Double cleansing should gently get your skin really clean, so it shouldn't be something that your skin needs to build an endurance for...if that makes sense. For when to apply the rose hip oil, you could add a few drops of it to any ampoules or moisturizers you are using later in your routine. For eye creams...I am searching for a good one too! Lots of people like the Whamisa Organic Flowers Eye Essence. It's on my list, but I haven't tried it yet. Benton also makes a good one, but I tend to avoid that brand, because there have been reports of it spoiling early (due to a lack of preservatives). Might be worth a risk though? I saw one girl post before and after pics on Reddit Asian Beauty (using the Benton stuff) and the results were definitely noticeable. The price is great too. www.amazon.com/Whamisa-Organic-Flowers-Brightening-Moisturizing/dp/B01MR3BSTIwww.amazon.com/Benton-Fermentation-Cream-types-1-05oz/dp/B01EHO26HYSome people like to do separate day and night eye creams, just because they want something lighter for the day that plays well under makeup, and something heavier at night to do more "work." A lot of the eye cream/essence recommendations I have seen are sooo expensive though...like Sulwhasoo and Amore Pacific stuff. I just haven't been able to justify that. Finally - I love The Ordinary! Let us know how you like those products. There is a lactic acid one I've been meaning to try.

itsmemeg I really like the T'iam My Signature C Source for a vitamin C serum. I swear by it actually. m.ebay.com/itm/TIAM-My-Signature-C-Source-30ml-O-S-T-Original-C20-Pure-Vitamin-Serum-/111115643456I've mentioned it up thread a few times, so you might want to read more about it, as there are some storage/use recommendations I have for it, in order to make it more effective and last longer before oxidizing. I used the T'iam one throughout my pregnancy. My OB reviewed the ingredients and said it was totally fine. I am still using it while breast feeding now. Regarding the eye cream - see my post above to sakura. I'm also on a hunt for a good one, so if you try something and like it, lemme know! For your neck, I recommend a product with lots of hyaluronic Acid. Hado labo makes a good toner like lotion that I put on my neck every day to minimize lines and signs of aging: www.amazon.com/Hada-Labo-Hadalabo-Gokujun-Hyaluronic/dp/B00BSNBO9O

Taitai I’ve been eyeing the Benton Ferment eye cream! I had thought about maybe getting the high concentration steam cream for a sleep pack and using it around my eyes, too. I haven’t pulled the trigger because I’m not sure it’s heavy enough for a sleep pack. I was also considering the Mizon snail eye cream. I’ll check out the Whasima one. I’ve been patch testing Mizon snail repair serum and I haven’t had any reaction so I think I’ll be adding that into the line up soon. As far as The Ordinary products go - I’ve been loving the caffeine and EGCG eye serum. It really reduces the puffiness under my eyes, but I’m not sure I’ve noticed a reduction in dark circles. The Salicylic Acid has been really effective for spot treatment; it definitely makes my blemishes go away quicker, and I think it may keep them from getting huge? That’s hard to tell. I recently (the last week) started using the Azeleic Acid at night and I think I’ve noticed some reduction in the dark spots recent blemishes have left behind. I think it may be helping clear blemishes quicker? Again, that’s hard to tell. I think I may add the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc to my AM routine. I just received a package with HA acid and alpha arbutin, so I’m excited to work those into my routine. Right now I’m mostly focusing on clearing my skin up, but I also need to add hydration and focus on anti-aging.

Just a heads up, my friend that tried the Whamisa eye cream said she was meh on it. She’s pretty well versed in K beauty and she’s tried a lot of product, so I trust her reviews.
I am currently using up some R+F eye cream that I bought from a friend. I have a sample of the belif eye cream that I am going to try next. I definitely did not like the Origins Ginseng eye cream, and I usually like their stuff a lot. So if anyone falls in love with an eye cream, please report back.
And for Vitamin C serum, I love the Klairs. I felt like I saw/felt a difference in a few days.

And I like the Banila cleansing oil better than the Etude House. I’m not sure why, I just do. I think I may have even gotten a few grits one night.

sakura Thanks for The Ordinary eye proudest recs! I'm going to try the caffeine and EGDG eye serum you mentioned. I was using a deluxe sample of the Kiehl's powerful wrinkle reducing eye cream, but after using it for a month, I didn't see any difference at all. Good thing I used the sample first, bc the full size was $$$. I also have below ginseng eye cream samples from Sulwhasoo on my wish list. I might pull the trigger on that when I am back in the states, because Sulwhasoo always does amazing things for me...and buying samples is a much better deal price-wise. It's still kinda pricey though...but I am 99% sure I willl love it. Sigh. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B013SLGBRI/ref=mp_s_a_1_7_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1520399391&sr=8-7&keywords=sulwhasoo+eye+cream&dpPl=1&dpID=51TsZN%2BeB6L&ref=plSrchInteresting about the Azeleic Acid! I've never used that one, but I am adding that to my list too. My skin loves Niacinamide, and I've used the 10% + Zinc. I really liked it, but found I liked the T'iam C20 better (for similar function), so I dropped the niacinimide out of my routine. I read there can be problems if you use Vit C and niacinimide too close together in your routine, so I opted for an either or use on those two. Have fun with the HA! My neck skin loves that stuff.

The first time I got them, I wasn't sure that's what they were either. Then as it happened more frequently, I got better at identifying them 😅

Taitai a lot of people mention the EGCG dries the eye area out, but I always use it before my eye cream, so I haven’t noticed that much. The Azeleic Acid is in a silicone suspension, so I’ve been using it last in my line up. It can cause pilling earlier on, and I also read that because silicone molecules are so large other products after it don’t absorb as well. I used the Mizon snail intensive ampoule on my whole face this evening and it made my skin really smooth! I’m not sure it added a lot more hydration, but it improved the texture right away. I need a hydrating toner rec, if anyone has any suggestions. I’ve been looking at 3 so far: - klarins supple preparation (I only hesitate because of the lavender. I’ve reacted to lavender in the past, but it was almost pure EO and this is pretty far down the ingredient list) - Hada Labo Gokujyun HA moist (it contains methylparaban. I may get this anyway for my neck) - Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner I’m open to any other ones, too! I’ll use it in the morning and alternate nights with The Ordinary Glycolic Acid toner. I’ve been using Pixi Glow Tonic, but TO GA is MUCH stronger, so I don’t think my skin can handle daily use. Where do you ladies patch test on your face?

The hada labo gokujyun sadly gives me little bumps on my face, so I only use it on my neck. I also love the Klairs supple prep toner, but I am a huge lavender fan and it never bothers me. I love the Pyunkang mist toner too. I think it has licorice root in it, which has a subtle pleasant scent. I spritz it on my face throughout the day 😀. So nice. ETA - I patch test on my lower cheek. Not sure if that is the best place, but I figure it's a less noticeable location in case there is a bad reaction. 🤷♀️

From my understanding sleeping masks/packs are super hydrating/thick moisturizers that go last so that they seal everything else in and add extra hydration (sometimes with actives) during the night. So it’s not like a sheet mask you wear all night.

I do put mine on like 20 min before I actually fall asleep though, just to give it time to absorb.

I don’t know if I reported back or not, but I am loving the Mizon snail repair intensive ampoule! It makes my skin feel so smooth; it has improved the texture already. I don’t think it adds much, if any, hydration, but it goes on light and sinks in quick. It’s a bit sticky, but it does soak in quickly so that hadn’t been an issue for me. It’s supposed to also help with acne scarring, and I can’t really speak to that because I’ve been using The Ordinary’s Azeleic Acid and that really does fade acne scarring pretty quickly.
