Expecting in November and we will not be finding out the sex. Just wanted to get some thoughts on the name Bea for a girl as a stand alone name.
Thanks!

I love Beatrice and Beatrix. Not a big fan of using a shortened version of a full name as the given name but Bea is adorable.

I don’t like it - sorry.
I like Beatrix, but I would shorten to Trixie before Bea.

I like Bea, but I prefer longer/more versatile names. Still, would love meeting a little Bea, and if you don’t like any of the “full” names, just name her Bea.
For reference, though- my girls both have longer “formal” names that they never ever use. Most people don’t realize they have these names since the names we call them are both given names as well.

Having known many older relatives/friends with the name, it's one of the "old-lady" class of names to me. I can't see anything but old ladies playing bingo when I hear Bea. Sorry.

I like it! I agree with prior posters, I would prefer it as a nickname for a longer name but it's cute. Go for it if you love it!

For me it would depend a bit on how you planned to pronounce it. If it were Bea like BEE, I do not like it at all as a standalone. If it were Bea like BEE-a, then I like it. Still prefer Beatrix, but Bea is very lovely.

Not a big fan of nicknames as names, but it's not that bad as far as those go. I'd probably assume it was short for Beatrix or Beatrice if I heard it.

I love Bea on its own. I could see a little girl quickly and easily making it her own. It may lend itself to easy teasing, though. The annoying kind, not the offensive kind. (Not just bumblebee references...but also "Be ...")
