I'm about 6 weeks out and we're still struggling with this. I've found coming up with a same sex sibling name super hard. Like we already used our favorite girl name, where do we go from here?
Anyhow, second girl, DD1 is Miriam. So we like classic (old lady-ish?) names but nothing too popular. Outside of the top 200 names definitely. DD2's middle name will be Joan so it needs to go with that. Our last name is 2 syllables, fairly bland. We want to avoid names that start with M, A, or R. We don't do nicknames, so I'm looking for a name that has no clear nicknames. We do sometimes call DD1 Mir affectionately so that sort of thing is okay. I also lean towards easy to pronounce. Clearly my pickiness also might have something to do with this struggle...
Right now the top contender is Fiona. I've been going back and forth with it. DH isn't completely sold. He really likes the name Wendy, which I hate. My very long list that he vetoed included: Fay, Sylvia, Darcy, Gretchen, Cordelia, Sybil, Lana, Laurel, and Simone. The only other one we've both agreed we like is Tess, but sadly it sounds horrible with Joan.
Any other suggestions given my many conditions?

We do like Tessa and I agree, Tessa Joan is pretty, but I have my nickname hang up and I’m afraid everyone will just end up calling her Tess. I can’t do the M or Rs and Cora/Hazel/Lydia are all lovely and were all on my list but too popular but I like Felicity! I will try that one on MH too.

ETA: Fiona is a great name and I love it. I also love Tess(a). My other suggestions would be Ivy, Wren, Poppy, Carys.

Since you like Tess anyway, what if you think of it more as Tess is to Tessa as Mir is to Miriam? Plus I would hope if you tell people it's Tessa not Tess they would follow your lead. A guy at work named his kid Zachary and made it clear from day 1 Zach was not acceptable. No one calls his kid Zach.

I also love Fiona. It was top of my list for a girl's name before I learned #2 was another boy.

Don't worry, I'm aware the nickname is pretty silly. I just have a thing because my parents gave me a formal name they never intended to call me and used a nickname from day 1 and I wish strongly they'd just given me that name.

re: nicknames.
The oldest is named Lucas and were clear that that was his name. We have never called or referred to him in anyway as Luke, however my aunt (that likes to pretend she's super close with us all, but really is kept at arms length) called him Luke once when he was 3, maybe 4, and he looked her dead in the eye and said "my name is Lucas, not Luke" and that was that. She never did it again.
ETA: A's name is Adelyn and I've mentioned before that we went in with the idea of calling her Ellie for short. It hasn't happened yet. She's Adelyn.
Similarly, on our list of names for #3 are a couple that we'd shorten for nicknames, but we'd plan on doing so from the beginning this time around, I think.

I love the name Gloria, it’s my second’s middle name. I think Gloria Joan sounds awesome.

For what it’s worth I knew a Tessa who never went by Tess. How about:
Fern Tabitha Mavis Delia Elaine
