I have been randomly lurking the General Discussion board lately and have noticed that many of you are successfully working on your health goals. Congrats! I really need to do this too. I had my son 8 months ago and need to lose this weight and get fit. How did you all do it? I need details (what do you eat and what workouts do you do). I don’t want to reinvent the wheel. I did Isagenix a couple years ago and that worked great but don’t want to spend the $ and drink shakes all the time again. I am a total yo-yo dieter but really need to make a lifestyle change. Thanks!

Hi! I will respond to this by tomorrow but wanted to quickly say that you can do it. You’ve got this. I’ve been where you are and have been slowly working to a place I am happy with and I feel I can reasonably maintain.

Hi! A lot of us have done Bikini Body Mommy 90-day challenges. They are free on YouTube and her website, though you can also pay for her meal plans. I’ve done 5.0, 6.0, and 7.0 and like 6.0 the best.

I’m a fan of the latest version of WW. I have been dealing with joint injuries for the past year, but I regularly walk and ride a stationary bike for exercise.

I calorie count with MyFitnessPal. (I also did isagenix a few years ago before I was familiar with MLM structures and nutrition, sooo glad I never picked it back up again!)
There are so many approaches but really all you need to do is consume less calories than you burn. Small lifestyle changes over a long period of time are proven to be more effective and last longer than a sudden lifestyle overhaul, so to speak. Do you have any goals in mind?

Clean eating and lots of running. I also take my kids to my local baby boot camp a couple times a week so they can play while I work out.

I have lost about 40 pounds since Jan. 2017. I still have a way to go, and have gained and lost the same 10 a lot, but these are the things that have worked for me: Start small - I started by cutting way back on alcohol and committing to packing my lunch. I take a hour on Sundays and cut up veggies and pack lunches for the week. Once those things were habit I focused on finding easy / fast dinners that I can make through the week. I have a pretty good rotation now. I added in exercise about 6-7 months in, once eating healthy was second nature. I really tried to focus on one change at a time so that I could make it sustainable. Now I feel super antsy if I can’t get a quick workout in most days and I never thought I would be that person.
Eating wise - Find what works for you. A lot of people like WW/MFP tracking. I am a very “all or nothing” type and I struggle with limiting portions. Once I have a few bites of something I’m like fuck it, I want more. I have done a couple whole 30’s and try to stick to those principles 90% of the time. I allow myself a couple drinks or a ‘cheat’ meal every week.

I’m not sure if you are breastfeeding, but if you are, my experience was that I had a really difficult time losing weight while breastfeeding, so I just focused on being generally healthy and doing physical things that made me proud of my body (mostly running and training for races for me). I also like group exercise classes for the social and accountability aspects.
After focusing on the exercise portion, I got more serious about the losing weight portion. A combination of tracking what I eat via MFP and sticking to a mostly plant-based Whole Life Challenge style plan (similar to Whole30, but less restrictive) has been working for me.

Thanks all! I will have to look into WW again. I did it a long time ago and liked it at the time. My first focus will be getting my food in check so I can feel comfortable in my pre-pregnancy clothes again. I still wear some of my maternity work pants and I just want to get out of them and donate them. Exercise will be added in gradually since DS is still not sleeping through the night so I really try to catch up on sleep when I can.

If you can, get yourself some new clothes that you love on your body right now. I love using new clothes/ the idea of fitting back into a beloved item as a reward for weight loss, but you still deserve to look and feel good about what you’re wearing while you get there.

coconutbacon - You are so right! I have gotten a few things but should probably get some more. I bounced back so quickly after my daughter but not so much with my son. Doesn’t help that he was 10# at birth lol.

first welcome! I am in the Noom thread on here where we post encouraging things, accountability meal plans for the day, recipes, advice, etc.
Here are things I have done: 1. Meal plan 2. Meal prep breakfast, snacks, and lunches 3. Drink a ton more water. I am down to one small glass of coke zero with my dinner vs all day 4. Log everything in MFP no matter how bad it makes me go over 5. exercise when I can, but hope to get more into it

It is a calorie counter that no one actually uses anymore in that thread. We are either using MFP or WW

Welcome luckycharm! Feel free to join us in the noom thread mentioned above. A bunch of us check in there daily (or whenever we can, no pressure) with our food plan for the day and activity. We share recipes and tips that are working for us. I also meal plan and prep breakfast, lunch & snacks. I try to prep some dinners too. I like Skinny Taste for recipes and the You Tube channel: Fit Couple Cooks for easy meal prep. I track my food in MFP, but had done WW in the past and have had success. When working out at home I love Jessica Smith's YouTube channel. I workout either at home or the gym 4-5 times a week. Good luck! I hope to see you checking in on the noom thread
