Has anyone listed to the podcast a Slob Comes Clean? It's inspiring me to start picking up the tornado that is my house again. My bf went back to work after 10 months on parental leave!!! I'm happy to have my house back, and hoping to get on some sort of routine again l I might check it out. I feel the same after this never ending winter. My motivation is gone. You know how everything looks fine and then one day you wake up and it’s like, wtf? How is that shelf so dusty? Where did that sticky handprint come from? That’s where I’m at right now. I started deep cleaning the kitchen today, wiping down the cupboards, cleaning out under the sink, etc. It’s tough doing it during naps but hopefully I’ll finish it up tomorrow. I think my biggest problem is distraction syndrome. I'm always doing something but it seems like I never finish anything. Between that and the two toddler tornados I give up. It would be easier to move. The dogs and mud don't help. I'm not a fan of tiny homes, but I'm starting to see the appeal.

I also made some egg muffins for E yesterday she gobbled them up this morning. I hope soon she gets used to a fork and spoon. Be careful what you wish for lol. B is in a new phase where he prefers to eat with a fork instead of his hands. Dinnertime takes ages now as he struggles to stab things like noodles and grains of rice.

I’m doing okay with the clutter and purging but the cleaning! One thing gets done and there’s two messes behind me. I just finished the backsplash, counters, under cabinets, etc. All that’s left for the kitchen is the fridge. Oh, and the floors again because you can’t tell that I vacuumed and mopped them yesterday 😂

Dd refused to put her diaper on in order to copy ds and she actually pooped on the potty! Meanwhile, ds peed his pants twice. At this rate I’d probably have better luck potty training her first 😂

M is doing this too and it’s driving me nuts. She is more willing to try new things from a fork than if she has to pick them up but it takes foreverrrrrr. And based on what I’ve seen with DS, there is still plenty of mess involved in meals even if a fork and spoon are on the table!

When do I start potty training? We started with DD1 two months before her 3rd birthday. It was a pretty smooth process for us, and it's probably because she was a little older. We follow the "Oh Crap!" method very strictly. But according to the author, the sweet spot is between 18-30 months. One of the very important skills the kid needs to have, is the ability to push their pants down.

We started at like 2yrs 9 months with DD peaseblossom55. She was ready and initiated it pretty much on her own. We didn't follow any sort of method. I was going to try the Oh Crap method at 2.5 yrs, but I felt like we never had enough time to strictly devote to it.

Ds just had a three hour play date with no accidents! 🎉🎉 peaseblossom55 When I first tried a couple months ago he did really well when he was naked but when he switched to pants (but no underwear) he’d pee in them. No poop accidents thank god. So after a few days of that we took a break and just started up again. He’s doing much better this time. I don’t know if he wasn’t ready the first time or if I should have stuck with it but for my own mental health, the break was key. Our #1 preschool choice requires them to be potty trained so hopefully this is it! Of course there’s a giant box of size 6 diapers on next weeks subscribe and save order so that guarantees he’ll stick with it this week 😂

peaseblossom55 we started potty training at 2 yrs 3 months and it took around a month for him to be consistent and another month for it to feel like we were completely done. Followed Oh Crap! pretty closely. I’d say don’t even think about it until they’re 2 then read the book and have it on your radar for signs of readiness (and most importantly for when you are ready). It’s the worst.

Lakes we definitely ended up with a giant box of size 5’s. Based on our girls’ peanut status they’ll probably stay in size 4’s until they’re potty trained and we’ll never get to use them 😂 Congrats on making good progress! We pushed through once we committed and while I’m glad to have it behind us, I also feel like it could have been a lot less painful if we had waited until now.

I just moved B up to size 5 diapers lol. He's a chunker! Dd is solidly in size 3. My friend brought her three week old over today and her thighs were larger than dd’s are. Slightly jealous I’ve never been able to experience all those baby rolls.

E is in size 4 diapers we jut switched last week. Our plan is to go away next March so she would be 29 months so I debate potty training before or after that vacation.

I pushed potty training until dd was ready. She was ready at literally the most inconvenient time in my life but we made it work. I was super hesitant because I had so much on my plate but she was so ready that it was not any work at all. E will let you know when it's time. ETA. DD was 31 months when she trained, had to do the math on that one.

We're moving from size 3 to 4 with the next box. peaseblossom55, The thing with PTing, is that you can have a fully trained kid in a few weeks, a few months, or a year. So, it's tricky to find the sweet spot of "when" to start. It'd be great to be potty trained before the trip, but you'll need to consider pottying in the airport/on a plane, or stopping while driving, etc. Something that is really important while PTing is making sure that you, the parent, or logistics are not the reason they have an accident. ie- if she tells you she needs to pee, but you can't get her out of the car seat fast enough, etc

It will probably be a wait and see approach as the time comes and seeing her readiness for it too.

Once you're in the middle of PTing, you constantly have to worry about how close you are to a bathroom lol.

My reaction when judyblume14 mentions it can take a year to potty train... We just had an accident free grocery shopping trip though! 🎉🎉

Lakes, i mean, i don't have experience with it taking a year. But I have a friend whose son took...longer... to poop on the pot.

Speaking of it taking forever...
DD was potty trained before B was born....but still needs a pull-up overnight. No end in sight because she wakes up wet 75% of the time. Nothing we do seems to help. ::sigh::

Nothing we do seems to help. ::sigh:: I’m pretty sure my almost 3yo will sleep in a pull-up until he’s 8. He wakes up with a completely full overnight pull-up every morning. Our Dr said the overnight peeing is hormonal and at some point our bodies start producing a hormone that suppresses overnight peeing. I’m holding on to that bc dnw to follow the Oh Crap method of waking my kid up multiple times a night to pee!

First night in a big boy bed for DS. M is obsessed with climbing in so I’m sure she’ll demand her own shortly 🙄

I’m wondering if I should think about it for dd soon. She’s sleeping fine now so why rock the boat but I’m also a glutton for punishment.

Finally some nice weather! We’re at the playground already. Both kids are in shorts and t-shirts for the first time season and it makes them look SO big. 😭
