Did you use one? Did your physician know? Was s/he supportive? I have looked into the literature a bit and it seems that there isn't any evidence that it is harmful but, like so many things involving pregnancy, it hasn't bee fully tested so most physicians caution limited use to be safe. Of course, I'm sure my elevated stress levels are also not good for baby, so I am thinking using one every few days for a few seconds at a time sounds like a reasonable plan. Any advice?

I've used a doppler with most of my pregnancies (starting at around 9 weeks). I have no clue if my doc was supportive or not, because I never mentioned it. I know they can cause some anxiety if you can't find baby's heartbeat, especially early on. For me, the good outweighed the bad and it helped ease my mind throughout my pregnancy.
I use the Sonoline B doppler and watched plenty of YouTube videos before I attempted to use it.

I started using mine at 8.5 weeks with DS and this one. This one was AL so I used it a lot more. Sometimes twice a day. I used it every day until I started feeling kicks consistently. I had to. Like, not using it wasn't an option because my anxiety would drive me insane. I decided the risk of the Doppler was better than the anxiety and stress not hearing the HB would cause me.
I also watched a lot of YouTube videos in the beginning to make sure I was hearing the HB. The $40 I spent has more than paid for itself.

I used a Doppler with both of my successful pregnancies and I know I told my doc with the first. I do have a medical background so felt comfortable using it. It was a stress saver for me many times.

I extra-love this because I am 8.5w right now so I am going to try when I get home tonight!
