Oh and passing along info I got at pedi today. R is so gassy and a horrible burper. He suggested giving her gas drops at the end of each feeding waiting 60 seconds then burping. She's been burping like a champ. Hopefully this helps us! Our issue isn't burping. It's the farting.

I pretty much assume there is always a growth spurt or leap. This is how I roll too. My H makes fun of me for it. With the toddler my go to is molars. He's cranky? Molars. Rosy cheeks? Molars. Lol Totally! 2 yr molars have been our culprit for a lot of things the last few months! Lol and still no teeth through.

I hope his head is ok ldubhawksfan. I know how difficult it is to stay off dr. Google. Thanks. Dr took me seriously and noticed it as well. Going in for a skull X-ray tomorrow now to rule out fusing. On the positive, ds is now 1.5” taller and 2 lbs heavier than at birth, which means he gained over 2 lbs in the last 2 weeks. Dr said to keep doing what I’m doing and once he’s healthy we can stretch night feedings since he will be 10 lbs any day now.

ldubhawksfan - I hope it's nothing. Our daughter got this crazy fluid (blood) filled lump on her head at about 8 weeks old. It really freaked us out (we went to CHOP) and it turned out to be totally nothing and resolved on its own. So even super scary looking stuff can be nothing. Also, we introduced paci around 3 weeks. She doesn't hold onto it long, but it helps. I tend not to feed her unless it's been at least an hour since she's last eaten - otherwise she gets the paci, even if I have to help her hold it. jenn83 - the haakaa is good to provide a little extra suction on the breast than a milk saver. I don't think it'd be as effective as a pump but if you use it more often it might work out. I tend to get twice as much from the haakaa as from the milk saver. My toddler has been a terror all day. I want my sweet kiddo back. Instead I have a cranky banshee. 😔

They gave him a paci at the hospital, so pretty much right away. He’s bottle fed since bf’ing directly wasn’t working for us, but it’s breast milk (with formula supplement). It helps when he still wants to comfort suck after we give him his bottle.

Oh my god. I nursed E nonstop until about midnight. He gave us two good stretches after though. I was just making a comment to my mother (she lives with DH and me) about how much I nursed him and she said "maybe you should keep him awake longer during the day." I told her that's not how it works. And then she said "why don't you get him on a routine like you did N". On what planet do you try to get a 3 week old on a schedule?

Man. Sounds like we all had similar nights. Like sarahandben108, D was on my boobs ALL night (every hour on the hour from 5:30-10:30), and then for the love of God would not stay asleep. I finally rocked her continuously for 20 min with white noise to make sure she was in deep sleep and put her in the Bassinest with the white noise going. She then slept from 12-4:15!! 😳 So no boobs from 10:30-4:15, AND I got the longest stretch I have since she was born from 12:15-4:15. Woooooooo. Then of course the toddler woke her (and me) up at 6:45 when I'm sure she would have slept until 7:30ish, but oh well. Can't win them all.

Give me strength, MIL is arriving in the next half hour and she has already irritated the shit out of me by being so fucking cheery.
I was told yesterday that my mother's not going to improve and I should make arrangements for palliative care and now I have to spend the weekend with MIL, who likes to paint herself baby whisperer and thinks the world revolves around her.
It was her birthday yesterday and we're supposed to be celebrating. There is not much I fancy doing less than that. The cherry on top? It's my mother's birthday tomorrow. I know it's not her fault but I resent her for being here when my mother is close to brain dead in hospital. I wish I could just wallow in my sadness instead of having to go through the motions.

Waffle I am so sorry about your mother. My MIL was very sick when my DD1 was born. She was in a vegetative state by the time DD was born and died about three weeks later. It was fucking terrible and MH had a really difficult time with everything. This is supposed to be an incredibly joyful time, but instead you have to go through such an awful thing. While your MIL might be overly cheery, she probably would understand if you are aloof and choose to wallow in your sadness instead of celebrating her birthday. Could YH explain to her that you really just need to be alone right now?

Seriously dh needs to stop that shit! E doesn’t want to come to our bed. She wants us to sleep in hers. It’s become a thing. I don’t know how to ST a toddler, it just feels like a battle of wills with a 2 year old.

We still have her in a crib, so it is falling dokey on dh since I can’t lift her in and out yet, and he clearly would rather just give in for any amount of sleep, so yeah. Into our bed she comes. I woke with her hugging my face this morning. 🤨

V caught DD1s horrible cold. I’m just hoping she doesn’t develop the fever, too! DD1, poor thing, has been so whiny. I know it’s bc she’s not feeling well, but I’m so tired that it’s getting difficult to not lose my patience. I’m gonna need both of these ladies to get healthy and stop making me worry!
V has her ultrasound of her head next Friday to look at the cyst the MFM saw in my US when I was pregnant. The pedi is not concerned, but I can’t wait for it to be over!

X-rays were quick this morning, though he was squirming. I went right when they opened, and got a call from his ped just after saying not to get the X-rays, but instead a CAT scan for more information. Since we had gone in already, he is going to look at them first before deciding whether to still order the scan. This, of course, worries me. I hope everything is ok with my baby boy.
