Going into hour 2 of trying to get DS to go to sleep. For the second night in a row. How do you get your babies to sleep and then do shorter MOTN wake ups? It’s like he doesn’t know how to eat efficiently. The only advice I have is that I only swaddle at night. That is how I have got all of my babies to help (in my opinion) to differentiate between day and night. I usually get a decent first stretch after this. As for MOTN, got nothing there. R often has stretches where we will be up 1-2 hours even after feeding.

It’s like he doesn’t know how to eat efficiently. Sheer luck couples with an oversupply. He doesn’t poop at night, and eats crazy fast b/c my milk basically pours Down his throat. I agree with only swaddling at night, and I keep regular lighting and noise until bedtime. I don’t always put him all the way to sleep. If he’s full, dry, and content then I lay him down and let him be.

LO is now doing this awesome thing where he only sleeps at night in my arms. Day 3 of this. He will be completely passed out but the second I lay him down he starts grunting so hard and making all of these noises until he eventually wakes up crying. Bahhhh

typo31, I hope you got a drink or ten after that! Swaddling definitely helps keep E sleepy. She had a very grumpy night a couple of days ago, refusing to go back to bed and only sleeping in our arms so we started swaddling again and it seems to do the trick. We also had issues with her crying in the evening for a few days in a row and couldn't suss out what was wrong with her as she was fed, dry and burped. Turns out she just wanted to sit with us... we kept her on the couch with us last night and she sat there quite happily and fell asleep while we had Greek takeaway

Bahhhh We are having problems with this due to his cold and stuff running down his throat. Poor thing. But it’s so frustrating to have to do the dance to put him down.

First feeding I forgot to seal the milk saver and thought my boob was really sweaty until I saw my bra and his sleep sack covered in milk. 😒

Thanks for the swaddle advice. I started getting him to bed around 10-10:30 and every time I would get him close to asleep he would have a huge poop. Then we finally got him settled and he flipped his lid every time we put him in the RNP. I swaddled him and put him in his crib at 1 and he woke up at 3 and 6. I think I’m going to start transitioning him to the crib now for night sleep (unless he loses his crap) and stick to the RNP for naps. This is so hard because I’m sure tonight will be a different story.

rooskie LO sleeps in his bassinet until his 5ish am wakeup and then I usually move him to the RnP for a couple more hours because that is when he is the most unsettled. I still kept him swaddled and it helps me get a little extra sleep.

Who has introduced pacis?? 🙋♀️ Our ped said it was ok. B only takes it sometimes but he is for sure a comfort nurser and could eat for hours. Sometimes I just need a break.

Last night I feel like he needed to just pacify even though he had eaten an hour before bed. Trying to remember when I gave it to her daughter for the first time. I know we introduce the bottle at three weeks, so I’m sure the paci was around then. I think I’ll probably sterilizing get that ready today. Two days ago he was sucking his thumb , which my daughter never did.

Who has introduced pacis?? I did on night 2. He's formula fed though. I went to the nurse's station in the middle of the night because all he wanted to do was suck. The nurse asked if I was breastfeeding, I said no and was given one. She didn't seem thrilled about having to ask if I was breastfeeding, but I think the "baby friendly" hospital I delivered at looked down on pacis.

rooskie, we don't swaddle only because E won't keep his hands inside. He's very oral and likes to suck his fingers. N never liked being swaddled because he liked keeping his arms up over his head. If swaddling doesn't work, you can always try sleep sacks. They are swaddle like but not real swaddles. veganontuesdays, that's rough. We are definitely dealing with a baby right now who resists sleep. At the moment E has been up for three hours and he's beyond exhausted but having difficulty sleeping. N always needed to be held when he was a baby too. Waffle, we have a fussy time in the evening too. The witching hour. Basically I become a human pacifier. ldubhawksfan, we started using a pacifier the night we brought E home. He took it no problem and it's been a godsend for my husband because he can help sooth so it's not always on me.

rooskie, ds doesn’t like his arms in the swaddle either since we’ve been home. Neither did DD. We still use the swaddle Velcro sacks (halo??), but I keep his arms out. I like that it still gives him another layer for warmth on his core, but I also think the tightness still benefits him in calming him.

Yeah even after we took E out of swaddles we had her the transition swaddle sacks with her arms out. It helped calm her.

Pulled out the boba and at first he hated it. Now he seems content but still doesn’t like his head tucked it. Thinks he’s stronger than he really is.
This afternoon I have to run around to a fu appt for him and myself after my incision opened last week. His is just to check his weight gain, which I’m sure is fine. But I also noticed his head started to seem a little mishapened in the last few days, like one plate is raised more than the other. Going back through newborn pics it was perfectly round. So now I’m worried something is wrong. Fx my dr will take my concerns seriously, but also I hope it’s normal. I’ve stayed off dr Google.

I keep hearing about this haakaa. I have a medela and since R only eats on one boob I try to pump the other one. My success is not the greatest and I have a little over 2 weeks before I head back to work.
R has had a bottle once. Thinking about doing it once a day and trying to double pump to hopefully replace. Ugh.

Oh and passing along info I got at pedi today. R is so gassy and a horrible burper. He suggested giving her gas drops at the end of each feeding waiting 60 seconds then burping. She's been burping like a champ. Hopefully this helps us!

+1 to the 3 week growth spurt. B was on and off the boob from 8-1:30 and it started again at 3.
One of my aunts wanted to come over today and I said no. Between no sleep and the cluster feeding it’s not like she would have gotten to “meet” him anyway.
