We had sling for a bit about a year ago. It was great but we just didn't watch it enough so we cancelled. But if you like stuff on the channels they offer, it's a good service.
We've had an antenna for 10 years now and between that, and Netflix and Prime on the firestick there always seems to be something to watch.

We had it for a bit and it was pretty good. We ditched it this year when cutting costs, but we have Roku and we use the Netflix, PBS, and Amazon Prime apps.

I've done it for a couple time and have activated it for very specific reasons (NCAA tournament). If you think you will watch it, then it is a good deal. We don't watch TV enough, so I alway cancel it when I am done.

Also, we don't have super fast internet (12mbps) and I couldn't do anything else on the internet while it was streaming.

My first concern is when my mom is here. Lady is seriously addicted to the tv and I just don't want to hear her bitch for a month about it. Maybe I can negotiate having her pay for it! Thanks for the tip about not being able to do anything else's while streaming rockies. Do you have this problem with other streaming stuff like Netflix or just sling? We have decent internet I think but Verizon tells us we already have too many devices hooked up to it. We usually don't have any issues unless my family is in town and they are trying to stream to two TVs at the same time along with using their phones to browse the Internet.

Do you use AT&T for your cell provider? If so, look into DirecTV Now, it's super cheap if you have AT&T. Even without it's not too bad, the lowest is $35 a month. We have it for sporting events mostly, and it's nice to have, though it would be the first thing to go if we had to cut costs.
YouTube has a new live TV service that you can try for free.

We have used PlayStation VUe for the last 6months or so. It's $35 a month, and they have a ton of channels. Every once in a while they'll have a glitch where it acts funny for a few minutes to an hour or so but it's rare, and we've been super happy for the price. They don't carry local stations in our area, but they do in some bigger cities. We just use an antenna for those.
ETA: It's all live TV for the channels they carry. They also have some shows on demand, and you can record anything off line TV you want. The only catch is it deletes Recordings after a certain amount of time. A month maybe?
